  is this game of the year awarded based purely off its cinematic trailer? apparently, this game was so overhyped that the actual game sucked hard in comparison.

    Dead island was the sleeper hit of 2012, i.e, everyone poo-poo'd it but the sales figures said otherwise!

      I played it. Friend gifted it to me, even then I felt ripped off. It is one of the all time worst games is have ever played, boring story, repetitive missions and I didn't even witness any of the bugs that were so oft complained about.

      4hours into the game and I find my first gun, except I can't get it because there are guys standing on a roof shooting me, so I spend the next 15 minutes throwing oars and baseball bats at them until I run out, then it hits me; this game blows chunks. Why are there no flare guns or spear guns (for scuba divers) some resorts might even have one of those skeet shooting ranges. The only thing it brought to the zombie shooter genre was the removal of 'shooter'.

      An epic trailer will do amazing things for boosting sales….

      The new Aliens is doing well in sales in many parts of the world. Sales don't mean a game is great

  It is $10 during the Xbox sale, however playing online via Xbox gold will cost $40 per year, so PS3 version is better IMO.
