I've used MAP hot chocolate pods in my Aldi Expressi before, why wouldn't these work?

Had a google myself on this very question. The MAP pods and KFee (Aldi) machines pierce the capsules differently. The MAP system machienes pierce the pod at three points around (but not in) the centre, whereas the Aldi/KFee machine pierce the pod with a single spike in the centre. The pods have an internal filter to stop coffee grounds escaping, and that filter is constructed differently in MAP and KFee. Apparently when a KFee machine pierces a MAP pod it lifts the filter up so that coffee grounds can escape around the sides of the filter and into the cup. I'm not sure how big a deal that actually is.

It's not an issue with the chocolate pods 'cos with those, there's no 'extraction' going on, the hot water just dissolves the powdered chocolate, so no filter is needed.

      filter placement in the pod.

it doesn't matter for hot chocolate, and for some reason Map Decaf worked for me, but for black, red and green map coffee pods you will get coffee grinds in your beverage. I am still slowing working through my map stash from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88410

We have not tried on Aldi machine ourselves but others on whirlpool have tested and find some grinds in the coffee when they use MAP coffee capsules with their Aldi machine. Possibly due to the different filter and piercing position.

  • +1 for the product's reference to American Pie.

  • Surprisingly quick, we have all sold out of Pink Tornado capsules. Thank you all Ozbargainers for clearing out our close to best before date stock.

  • Good deal. Managed to grab a few. Nice to see a variety of Caffitaly pods.

Looking forward to more Drinkable OzBargain specials…
