Omniblend V Professional/Commercial Blender - Sale $211

40

Just thought that I had to post this bargain. Was recently in the market for a good quality, high powered blender but was reluctant with the prospect of having to part with nearly $1000 for the premium models (I kid you not, the ones such as the Blendtecs and Vitamixes). However, this cheapie was one of the alternatives I kept on seeing being mentioned in the same breath as the other blenders.

The Omniblend V isn't as well known as the other brands but from the reviews I've read they do a pretty well darn close job at a fraction of the price. I decided to bite the bullet and was even more stoked to find it's on sale for this week! It's been generating quite alot of discussion and interest over on Whirlpool forums (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1667336). The customer support were really helpful in explaining the differences between their models and stand behind their product with a two year warranty on the parts and five year warranty on the motor.

Haven't had a chance to put it through its routines yet as they sent me the wrong jug and I need to return it, but on first inspection it appears solidly built.

I realise not everyone might consider this to be a bargain, but compared to the alternatives I think it's great value for money and can already think of the savings to be had from making my own smoothies and the health benefits!

21/3: Now $211

  • Seriously looking into this -but on the web site the price is still $247. Did you have to call to get it for $200?

    • Looks like only the 1.5L is $201

  • Contacted them and confirmed, yes the grey omniblend V is the only one at $201, the others are still reduced, but not by as much. Sale has been extended for a few weeks so no rush.

I have one of these, and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. Two of my friends have Vitamix blenders, and tried to convince me to buy a Vitamix too. I did a bit of research and decided the Omniblend V was worth trying for the price. I paid $295 a year ago, and it's still going strong.

    • Can you tell a major difference to a regular high power blender say the ones you would buy from local electrical retailer like BIG-W?
      Why are these better?

  • For me, the biggest benefit is that I never worry that I might break it.

I often have green drinks which are based on Victoria Boutenko's Green for life book. http://www.greenforlife.com
When I've tried making similar drinks with Big-W type blenders, they've always ended up more like a food than a drink, with a whole lot of little bits of nuts, seeds and skin.
I've even used the omniblend to make flour from quinoa.
For everyday kitchen use, something like this might be overkill, but they're very popular with people who want to turn food into drink, or blend some of the tougher foods.

Just got mine delivered today (by rough postie, luckily it survived the trip).

Made a green smoothie - chucked in whole apple, bok choy, blueberries, banana and almond milk (kids only seem to like the smoothies when I add milk). It wasn't completely smooth and the apple need some thumping before it would process. Perhaps longer processing might get it smoother.

Smaller jug is big enough and is easy to rinse. Not dishwasher safe though but easy to clean.Pretty happy so far and recommend it at this price.
