  • No USB3.0 is a bit of a bummer, but a solid CPU/RAM/HDD for that price.

      Too bad its from ACER.

and the winner for the pointless "not a fan of a particular brand" comment is…..

        • I am not disputing the reports you quote, iamjohngalt, just that if EVERY laptop from Acer was bad, people would stop buying them and they would stop making them. I think it is silly (that's my view, and you are allowed to disagree with me) to tar the whole manufacturer with the negativity.

On the other hand, if you know that this particular model is a known turkey, then that's another thing and your comment would be most welcome, especially if the comment was a bit more specific (like the info you have quoted).

dons flame-retardant suit preparing for the onslaught

        • I agree that flame wars are not productive. I hope we both find near flawless products to use. If Acer's overall reliability gets better I will include their products in my purchase choices.

        • Last time I got an Acer desktop, it was full of useless Acer crap. None of that crap on my Toshiba laptop

  • I wonder what prices they are discounting from? A notebook I've been looking at was $698 on Tuesday, its now $635 after supposed 15% discount, should be under $600?

At least the HP DM1-4018 (DM1-4108) is now back under $300.
