Can also check coles - every time i have looked for AGES they have been $7.99 or less
EVERY kitchen should have one - that goes double for caravans

Edit - they make a fantastic house warming gift imo, as do 1st aid kits

  • Seems a good price.

I'm interested in the LED bulbs they have. Has anyone used these type of bulbs before? I am wondering whether they'd put out better light than compact fluorescents.

Yep, we've just filled our new house with 9W GU10 240V LEDs. They're really really good but still not perfect as they can't flood a space with as much light as a CFL or especially the good ol' power-hungry, fire-hazard halogens. I tested many other LEDs in the lead up to the electrical fitout of our house and most 'warm' LEDs throw an awful pastey, wishy-washy colour but the ones we ended up going for have a very rich & warm colour… but I can't remember the name of them now sorry. They were from Beacon on the North side of Brisbane and cost around the $17 mark (but that's probably because we bought nearly 100 of them so don't expect them to be as cheap if only buying a couple). I tested many 12W Chinese no-name GU10s too but the 9-Watters from Beacon actually threw a brighter light so be careful as there are SO many out there to choose from.

So yeah, the ALDI ones are only 5W and I assume they'd be the pastey colour but for that price it's probably worthwhile giving one a go for a week or two then going back and getting a house-full if you're happy (& if they have any left).

      • Thanks for that. It's just 'regular' type bulbs we're after, not the GU10's though, so a bit more variety in wattage

    good find. ty.
they also have confidence toilet paper which is hypo allergenic and 4 ply!
    innovators.
read recently that unlike wollies and coles they do not force suppliers to compete on international pricing and do not gouge them with delayed payment terms and interest charges. [lifechoices/accc report] more ethical than the 2 big bullies who are driving manufacturers out of business in oz
    led lights look good too.
    ty sir

I've read that they're just as bad as the other 2.

I didn't say you were lying, I said I've read something that doesn't agree with what you wrote. So the lesson is, you can't believe everything you read. And also not to use newspaper articles as your personal opinion.
