Click and Collect - why bother?

I have noticed many people complaing about click and collect orders not being acted on by some stores. I have had it happen to me at dse and supercheap.

I wonder if the stores are ignoring these orders because too many people do not claim orders?

Anyone work in a place where click and collect is used? Some feedback would be interesting?

A couple of recent samples from here… http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96151
"Placed a click and collect order for these yesterday at Springvale store, was phoned by store today and told they are out of stock! Maybe they should change it from "click and collect" to "click and forget"…not a happy customer."

"yes same happened to me..they said the click and collect order didn't come..should be complaining to dick smith HO about this..not sure if they will do anything.."

"I placed a click and collect order and that store said they never received click and collect order from me. so they sold the last one yesterday"

  • DSE will send you an SMS only when ready for collection so you probably need to wait before picking up.

click n collect at dse has always worked for me

hn i've heard a lot of problems with it

      • Worked for me at DSE thrice and HN twice.
        Hasn't not worked for me.

  • it's worked for me most of the time

  • have done many click and collect orders.
and very happy with the provided service!

  • only once had a store tell me they didnt bother to "collect" the click and collect orders and were just selling them to whoever came first, not happy, but not gonna crack the shits over $5, i try my best not to go there now

Stores don't seem to have the hang of it yet, usually takes quite some time for them to find the order when you pick it up or otherwise just processing the order.

Last week Supercheap Auto processed the order quickly but had no idea that I had collected it and called me a week later wondering if I had or not…sure…I haven't collected my things yet!

  • I've never clicked and collected. Do u usually pay first online or in store?

    • you pay in store

  • Worked for me at HN, but not at DSE. With HN, I had someone from the store call back within a couple of hours with a confirmation that the stock had been put aside. With DSE, the request just disappeared… I went to the store, and the item was still on the shelf.

  • i used it with dicksmith 3-4 times.

with harvey norman 2 times and also once with supercheap auto.

    always worked for me.

  • It took over a week for my click and collect to become available at HN. It was in a courier box though so I assume they had it sent from another store or their depot. At the time I bought the item, their website did say in-stock. I won't bother with it again.

  • Has worked well for me at DSE, HN fail 2 of 2 attempts - as many OzBargainers would attest, they are useless at most things!

  • Never had any issues click-and-collecting many times from DSE, JB or HN.

  • I've only used it once at DSE. I went in store to collect my order and they guy just picked my item off the shelf. Aren't they supposed to hold the stock so that no one buys it?

    • depends on the item, ive had that before, when i atleast they had a big stack near their registers
