Apple Store Warranty

I purchased a Belkin Dock for an iPhone 5 at Christmas from the Apple store. Now it is faulty and they have said I have to contact Belkin to get it repaired or replaced. I am not getting any response from Belkin. I thought all shops were obliged to replace the item if it is within the one year warranty period. Can anyone offer any advice on this?

They should deal with belkin, not you.

that is a load of bs. under australian consumer laws apple are obliged to handle warranty issues. insist that they handle the warranty. otherwise complain to accc

Within the warranty period, they are obliged to repair or replace the item if it is defective due to a manufacturing fault.

pao2x is right. Apple as the retailer is obliged to deal with Belkin on your behalf or replace the item. Apple have insisted for a long time that they are not responsible for third party product warranties, but that stance is against the law.

Tell them you know your rights under the law and that they must deal with the warranty return and if they do not, a formal complaint will be lodged against them.

Let us know how that goes.

I love Apple products and for their own gear they usually go above and beyond what is called for, but this kind of nonsense just burns the hairs in my nose.

  • Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it goes
