My old house mate had one of these. They are seriously comfortable. They use a memory foam instead of beads, so no back pain. However… as comfy as it was, it is not worth $500 for a bean bag!

    • They use a memory foam

How does the foam know who is sitting in it ?

      • +1

Once bitten, twice shy. If you have passed serious wind into it, it remembers and moves from beneath you.

  • These are pretty nice, but damn that's an expensive bean bag

  • i remember lovesac having a retail outlet in indooroopilly. they are reaaaallly comfortable and I'd love to have one but at those prices it's not hard to see why the retail shop closed down soon after. saying that though, the big bag has 40kgs of foam inside which is $20/kg if buying that straight from a foam / rubber shop. that's 800 reasons why i didn't bother making my own imitation..

  • What would just the cushion in a moviesac cost?

Trying to work out if I buy inserts now. Then a suitable cover later.

The 40% off was tempting but the cheap colours were ugly and I only wanted the inserts. Didnt think to ask tho.

Actually it's still about $110 more than when it was 40% off.. but I'd still like to know the split of buying the inserts vs the cover.

    • Hi. The Insert for a Moviesac is $410. Cover is $240 for Microsuede. That's the split. Let us know if we can help you further. The insert is the heavier component. Moviesac Inserts weigh roughly 25kgs.

    Yeah…it is.

    • Hi. It doesn't contain polystyrene beans, so you are technically incorrect. More information is listed on the website. Thank you.

The Deal is for free shipping, the argument around if the product is worth it is up to individual consumers, some brands charge more because they can. So either you can find the same product for cheaper or all you're doing is recommending an alternative. People will not buy a suzuki over a BMW because it does virtually the same thing.

Having said that, I agree that this is an expensive product and not for me.

    • -1

So either you can find the same product for cheaper

Just because nobody else sells this cheaper does not make it a bargain…

A bargain is value for money…

      • +2

        value for money…

        depends on personal opinion….

Just because nobody else sells this cheaper does not make it a bargain…

True, as that would be considered 'normal' pricing….. The 'bargain' here is that it currently costs less than anywhere else, and is less than 'normal' pricing, due to the free shipping.
Whether or not people personally feel the item is too expensive, has no relevancy to this post…

hi JV, i am not suggesting people vote positive for it being a bargain, I am saying to people not to down vote because they deem this as an expensive bean bag as per voting guidelines - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

        • -1

Any bean bag selling for ~$500 has well and truly forgotten its place in the world!
A $500 bean bag is self-evidently not a bargain and, as far as I am concerned, should be down voted. Incidentally a BMW is a well understood luxury item, but paralleling these beanbags with a BMW is a little implausible however I could easily buy a second hand Suzuki (to mutate you analogy) for the price of a couple of these. :p

        • A $500 bean bag is self-evidently not a bargain and, as far as I am concerned, should be down voted

And you feel that you should impose your opinion on all?
Expressing your opinion is one thing, but by neg voting, you are attempting to remove the post from most members view…. who may, or may not share that opinion.

Any bean bag selling for ~$500 has well and truly forgotten its place in the world!

Tis probably up to the market to decide this….

        • Well that is what the Neg/Pos votes are for! To show agreement or disapproval. Of course I am not trying to "impose my opinion on all" - that's more than a little over the top. I do however NEG this deal as a crappy non-bargain.

        • Well that is what the Neg/Pos votes are for! To show agreement or disapproval.

          Nope……

The FUNDAMENTALLY wrong Negative Vote TEST
While you’re more than welcome to express your personal opinion against a deal, this alone should not be used as a reason to vote negative.

"Many people dont like a deal, and want others to know about some issues they have with the deal, as evidenced by the comments made about a deal when they negatively vote. The IRONY for you to consider is that if a deal gets a number of negative votes, it is removed from most visitors screens. So your considered comments go as well".

Absolutely. Not everyone will see the value in this product. Also, not everyone understands the costs of making product locally - but that is a different matter. A Ten Year Warranty justifies the cost in my opinion (and they are super comfy ;). That said some will spend thousands on rims for their cars because they see value in it; whereas I don't. Each to their own. I simply posted here as a way of sharing information. All the best.

Shipping an overpriced product for free doesn't make it a bargain.

A BMW is priced significantly higher than a Suzuki for reasons of brand prestige earned over time, components, performance, and its ability to hold value.

Maybe these bean-bags have fancy beans in them and are worth 10x more than your average bean bag, but I still don't think it's reasonable to say that ratings on the supposed bargain should be restricted to the shipping component.

  • +1

As a side note, I apologise that this is not deemed as a bargain by some due to the fact that the item itself has not been discounted. I saw other posts by other companies listing products with free shipping and so I did likewise. Saving a couple hundred dollars on shipping is a pretty good deal IMO - despite what you think of the cost to value ratio of the product.

In regards to value: the company is attempting to maintain locally made product with excellent warranties in a difficult economic climate (granted). We acknowledge that a great deal of people won't see the value in the product - despite their knowledge (or lack thereof) regarding local manufacturing - and in the end it's just a matter of choice and opinion.

I will keep this listing on offer. Perhaps someone may find it useful.

If by chance I haven't replied to a query - please contact the store [email protected]

    All the best.

At least I appreciate the post mate.

As I'm in WA, the moviesac inserts with free shipping are tempting.

I just wish I could try before I buy, that's still holding me back.

I look forward to seeing what coupons you come up with in the future.

  • +1

I have 2 of these in my house (as well as a lounge) …. I never sit on the lounge, and when guests are over, the sacs are always the first thing people sit on.

these are super comfy sacs, and shouldnt be compared to bean bags, they should be compared to other sacs (sumo), or compared to lounges (since they are just as big as a lounge)

  • +1

Why is there always so much hate for lovesac? It's actually not a bean bag. It's similar but different, as with many other products. Surely some of those here are trolling?

At least this rep is nicer then the last one who posted a deal.
