The TV is also not a Hitachi, its a china made TV that has put the Hitachi logo on. Somehow Hitachi Australia doesnt really care.

    • +1

Really? How do you know this? I'm curious.

"Now Hitachi is set to close this plant in September and outsource all of its TV production to third-party manufacturers"

      • +5

Hitachi got out of the Australian market in 2007 or so. In fact, they left consumer electronics altogether in Australia as CE sales only contributed to around 2% of their bottom line.

Just one of many Japanese companies who licensed their name to sub-par Chinese manufacturers. Not saying all Chinese made stuff is of dubious quality, just the equipment behind your Sanyo badge and others is. Chinese made Sony/Panasonic gear is made to Sony/Panasonic standards and is really just assembly - all the R&D is still proper Sony/Panasonic.

        • Well said, that is what i ment to say regarding Chinese manufacturing.

        • Hitachi has been outsourcing for some time, the Japanese plant closure has little relevance to Australia as those sets were for Japanese consumption.

Japanese made products are expensive, outsourcing production is a way of making them more competitive, this has happened with many brands.

Hitachi withdrew from DISTRIBUTION in Australia, distribution of Hitachi products was taken over by http://www.tempoaustralia.com.au/tempo/our-products whom also distribute a number of other brands, Tempo is not the manufacturer Hitachi still oversees the manufacturing process, Tempo just distributes it in Australia (distribution/importation).

In regards to this TV it's a 2011 model.

TV + Hitachi logo = Hitachi TV

      • TV + Hitachi logo = TV licensed to use Hitachi trademark, made by any number of manufacturers.

    • most of the TV you buy is made in china , Vietnam , Thailand so what is the big deal

  • I've seen this tv. Screen looks faded..not a best quality..

  • Not fullhd. No deal.

    • Agree. For this price a Full HD can be purchased elsewhere.

3 star energy rating, not full HD: FAILED.

    • -7

Full HD on a 32" or less is pointless.

      • -2

the 5" screen on a galaxy s4 is full hd

        • … You are closer to it.
If you sit more than 150 cm from the tv the difference is not noticeable.

        • +3

Maybe u watch SBS only or read article from years back. Try with bluray or other HD quality, it is noticeable.

        • Even if the difference is minimal.. Why buy this when you can get a Full HD one at around the same price ?

  • Has the Hitachi brand gone the way of Teac, Akai, etc… (just a sticker that can be stuck on anything now?)

    • Yep. Happened a while back, unfortunately.

  • hey guys , take it easy . i never said it was HD . thought would help , so people who dont like it dont bother . with the specs its a good Price .

    • $278 32" High Definition Digital LED TV @ Officeworks

Yeah you did! Well technically Officeworks did…
Actually that resolution is WXGA, which is still classed as high definition.
      Carry on :-P

      • Thanks muncan :)

This TV and the deal is garbage. No deal.

      • +6

Better than any of the deals you have posted. Oh wait.. You haven't posted any…

    • It's like when I buy a blu ray… If there's a regular edition and a special edition version with extra stuff and they are both the same or very similar prices. Even if I don't care for the extra stuff I will get the special edition.
I haven't negged the deal, but the reason you're getting the hate is because this is ozbargain. People want the "special edition" tv for the same price you're posting the "regular edition" tv.

  • Thanks guys for the positive reviews :) and to people who appreciates
