      It isn't just normal for China however it is normal for almost any online shopping company to understate the cost of their products when declaring to customs….

      This is usually to avoid taxes.

      Not that it matters for our $1000 GST free threshold anyway. Regardless of what the value says on the package, if they open it here and determine its worth more they're going to charge you anyway.

    Rt3066 dual core is a bit underpowered for a retina screen tablet, cube U30GT2 uses the newer rk3188 quad core, and you can buy it for around $248 also with twice the ram

      The specs on the display of this tablet (Cube one) is not the same as the OP.
      I realise it says Retina then it also says IPS and the res is not the same as the expected 2048x1536

        The Cube is widescreen, this one is 4:3. Ultimately this one ends with a PPI of 263 vs the Cubes 224, not sure how much you'd notice that difference..

      The CUBE has slightly lower resolution. But makes up for it with quad core, a slightly bigger screen (10.1 inch over 9.7"), a better camera (5 megapixels with flash), Bluetooth support and ambient light sensor.

      Overall the CUBE would perform better since it has a lower resolution display to deal with.

      RK3188 specs wise looks good. Questions with these cheap tablets:

      • Build Quality (all my friends and I have issues with those tablets - every one)
      • So called wireless N is basically wireless N 150 (1T1R)
      • Will they properly setup the internal memory (or will it be 1G + 15 to 31GB internal SD card - which defeats the purpose of using ICS/JB)

        The Ramos W30HD with Exynos quad core also looks like a decent tablet.
