A few days ago I was on the hunt for a second monitor and was considering another of OzBargain's favourite S2722QC, when I found out there is a new model for 2025.

List price was $499 when I first checked. I've been watching the price and today saw it dropped to $449.90.

With the DNCPAU11 coupon and a rounding adjustment in cart, this brings it down to $399.41.

Thought I would share in case anyone else was interested in this monitor.

Great deal, thanks! And bonus points for not typing "First post, please be gentle" 🙄

If you don't need the integrated USB hub it's $354.38 delivered for S2725QS @ https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/cty/apd/210-BQVS

    • +17

Also loses the USB C (DP Alt) connectivity, which is big for anyone looking for a 1 cable solution.

    • +4

It's more than a USB hub, the USB-C connection is to connect the PC to the display and extend the DP signal over multiple monitors, while also acting as a USB hub.

      • So basically what you are saying is that you can connect 2 extra monitors (3 total) via just 1 USB-C

        • -1

1 USB-C from the PC to primary USB-C display, then use DP out to secondary monitor DP in and so on.

          • @ohgee: Checking the specs, there's no DP on this monitor at all

            • +1

@Buy2Much: Interesting, looking at the specs, you're right. Kinda surprising, what's the point of it being a USB-C monitor without DP in/out. Please disregard my prior comment, it doesn't seem to apply to this monitor.

              • +1

@ohgee: There is actually. There is one USB-C DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode port in this monitor.

          • @ohgee: *At least this is how it's done with a capable monitor. Doesn't seem to apply here, apologies for any confusion.

  • what’s the difference between this and the old model? 120hz?

    • +6

Theres also a cute USB hub popout, though it isnt as 'hidden' as the old one. It is also now USB C + USB A rather than 2 x USB A

      • +1

        ^Actually theres 2 USB-A + 1 USB-C, one of the USB ports are hidden behind a panel.

    • +7

      Appears to be:

      2x5W speakers (S2725Qx) vs. 2x3W speakers (S2722Qx)

Addition of AMD FreeSync Premium which is:
      * Low framerate composition (LFC)
      * 120Hz refresh rate

      • Freesync is a no brainer for anyone planning on gaming even casually on this. If it's just an office monitor, it doesn't matter.

        Same brought down to $381

Mine 15% off working ending upto $381

        • ah yes, not stackable I see. Works when DNCPAU11 is taken off. Either way 15% is better for sure.

          • @bag: Does anyone have a spare code they'll be willing to give me? Just tried my work account and it didn't work :(!

    • can't stack the 2 codes.

Wow great deal. If I didn’t have a 27” already and a m32u on order I’d pick it up

When 5K $399 for Mac users?

    • +2

Maybe 5-6 years away due to low 5k monitor sales volume.

In the meanwhile this may help to make Mac display without blurring/issues on 4K monitors:

      https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mac-mini-4k-120hz.22670…

      • Still not native and gets slightly blurrier.

      • Thanks for sharing!

I’ve done limited research, but will this help for this monitor being usb-c … or only relevant to 4K monitors using HDMI?

      • Yeah I don't understand how one can be so picky. I've ran 4k 32" Samsung monitors with MacBook airs (m2 model) over USB C and they look great.

    • Easier to not be a Mac user and not have to pay extra for everything.

      • It's wise to remember MacBook Airs are a fantastic buy for many. For students, nothing comes close in battery life. From a longtime windows user, not having to worry about charging it throughout the week outweighs the learning curve of MacOS. I just need a web browser and Microsoft office, and it does just that flawlessly. No doubt I'll sell it as soon as my degree is finished, but it's still a perfect machine for its purpose.

  • Does this replace Dell U2723QE?

    • No. That would be U2725QE.

  • +2

Anyone have any recommendations for something similar with a touch screen monitor?
    Thanks!

  • +1

    I wish it was 32"

    • +3

      Same. I'm waiting for a 32" IPS, 4K with 100+hz

      • +1

So was I I ended up picking up a m32u should be coming next week maybe. The m32up is basically the same thing and will be in stock in just over a week as well.

Though it isn’t the most cost effective solution, albeit is all I could find that had a usb c connection as well.

If you don’t need usb c pick up the lg32gr93u

      • +2

        where's g3223q for $500

  • +2

Picked this up the other day after also owning the previous model. Only do office stuff so 120hz not really noticeable but the new USB hub is handy.

    • Curious about this - is your computer displaying in 120hz? I thought the difference would be as noticeable as on smartphones when you switch from 60 to 120.

      • +1

Yeah it is. Like if I switch back and forth between 60 and 120 and look for it I can tell, but day to day it doesn’t make a lot of difference for what I do. I spend most of my time on 20 fps zoom calls.

        • I spend most of my time on 20 fps zoom calls.

          😂

  • how can two of these two monitors connect to one laptop? like the hold daisychain?

    • +1

2 cables like 1 hdmi and 1 dp. or use a docking. 2 monitor connected to a docking

      • Or two dongles. My MBP can only do single HDMI per C port so I use two dongles for two displays. Single multi HDMI does not do it over single C. M3 Pro.

$381 with coupon posted on the link on the comments
    3x rewards too

  • I have Viewsonic WQHD. Thinking to use this as with Viewsonic together as dual screen setup. Will it work? Still thinking should i get it?

  • Can this be connected to a PC which has only DP output using a DP to USB C cable?

    • -3

Guys why negatived me that was my story

      • +9

Because your story was grammatically flawless and full of positivity and useful info.

  • Would this pair well with a Dell S2721DGF?

    • I knew someone would ask this exact question first, hoping for some insight on this too

    • Ooo my monitor too!

  • Hows the colour calibration? I am looking at selling my 5K imac and moving to a mac mini and a monitor like this. Application is photo editing. Wanting something in a reasonable price range that will get me close to the imac

  • +1

Bought, thanks for sharing, OP! Gonna replace my U2713HM (one of the premier colour monitors from 2013!)

The DisplayPort broke on it and I'd been using via HDMI, but it can't do QHD over HDMI so it was running non-natively at 1080p and looked horrible.

  • +1

People who have this monitor. Would this be a decent gaming monitor?. I don't play FPS.. Just forza and racing sims..

  • The tech specs say it has 2 HDMI ports but I can only see one of the picture of the back, can anybody confirm where the second HDMI port is?

Edit: All good, it's behind a panel on the back.

    • +1

The second HDMI port and USB 5Gbps Type-A downstream port are hidden behind a panel on the back of the monitor. You can see it on the pics if you scroll down or open the 3D view and click on ports.

  • After a year of use, I occasionally get screen flickering with this monitor.
Anyone have the same issue? I am using the same USB C cable that came with the monitor.

    • +2

This particular monitor only released in the last couple of months. I'm guessing you are talking about its predecessor, the S2722QC. Can't help you with that though.

      • Yes, S2722QC

    • I don't haev this issue

  • Can I use a couple of this monitor and connect it to a couple of MacBook and switch between them kind of like what you can do with a single ultra wide 49 monitor with an internal switch?

  • … and was considering another of OzBargain's favourite S2722QC

OzBargain's favourite is (was) Dell G3223Q, $480, 32" 4K IPS, 144Hz, no USB-C. Just fact'ing here. Happy owner, plugged in CalDigit dock with MacBook. :)

  • Tempted to get on to put next to my g3223q 4K as I have a pretty old 2715H there atm but white is a bit off putting

  • I've had this for about a month now. Happy with it for the $450 I paid. Use it mostly for productivity, bit of videos/movies and some 1080p gaming. Use it with a framework AMD 13, just plug in and go.

  • -1

Nice monitor for the price. But 4k makes everything so small. I prefer qhd at this resolution

  • +1

Now even a Dell basic monitor comes with 120 HZ but the latest iPhone worth $1500 has a 60 HZ display.

  • S3425DW seems like a better buy tbh. The coupon applies to that too
