A Little Bit of Everything For Dummies [Kindle Edition]

Twenty years ago the very first For Dummies book, DOS For Dummies, was published. From that first printing of that first book came a series unlike anything in the publishing world, one that is global in both geography - we have been published worldwide in some 30 languages - and in coverage. No single volume can hope to summarize what thousands of titles have meant to millions of readers over the years, and we don't claim to do that in this e-book. Rather, this e-book celebrates the breadth and depth of the For Dummies series, offering 20 chapters - in honor of our 20 years - from a list of books compiled by our global colleagues. We are confident the chapters we've included give you a representative glimpse at why - no matter what the topic - our products have meant so much to so many by Making Everything Easier.

Unclear when this ends so probably best to try sooner rather than later.

Thank you. Another reader made it to "edit" before me. I ticked the "freebie box" thinking that would show but apparently not. Lesson learned.

So i guess this is targeted for the all-round dummy?

  • So this is an advertisement of the for dummies books? Anyone downloaded and given it a read?

    • I did. Its got a bit of this and that. Some computing, french language, meditation, music, cameras…

Perfect gift for a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None"?

I'm waiting for "Using ebooks on Kindle for Dummies" - Kindle ver.

    Downloaded and skimmed.
While it has some old pointless info for things like DOS, it does have other more generic info like setting up a network and WIFI router etc. They do Win Vista & Win 7 (no 8 - you prolly need to buy that).

There's more mixed bag on other topics too.

So I guess for the somewhat clueless (my wife & daughter I someone say?) it's a good grounding.

Ultimately it's like all teasers, meant to get you to shell out for the usefull stuff.

  • So if you download it. its official your a dummy?

    • i'm a dummy…

    • It's official - I'm a dummy.
I wanted to check out the value for other members of my family

    • I guess so, and not just a ordinary dummy but a dummy on everything.

    • I'm a selective dummy :)

    • Unless you also download 'spelling for dummies'. Then you're a dummy.

      (sorry, just had to!)

  • Haa, nice way of marketing their other books I reckon.
