    Sony released an xbr45 and bdps550 blu ray pack selling at $2999
    It looks like the pack has been split and blu ray sold seperately.

    Cheapest I've seen pack for is $2799.

    Still a good deal for tv on its own if you dont want blu ray.

    i know I should never buy a TV based on tech specs alone, but why is it that the Sony screens have contrast of 2200:1 whereas Samsung screens like there older Series 6 which use the same panels have contrast of 50,000:1

    At least on this spec, doesn't this make the Sony far inferior to the Samsungs?

    I have to say I think the Sony's styling in the XBR is WAY better than anything Samsung have….

      samsung is quoting the dynamic contrast ratio whereas the sony is quoting the true contrast ration.

      sony is better.

      BBB's XBR is Sony's 1st gen, This deal here is the 2nd gen XBR obviously replacing the 1st gen with much improvement

        Hmm.. How do I tell if it's 1st or 2nd gen? (and not the other way around?) Both are "KDL40XBR"… any specific serials I should lookout for when shopping for it?

          One is KDL40XBR the other is KDL40XBR45 look for the 45 in the model number, you wouldnt get one cheaper than this tho!
