the ones from aldi periodically sell for ~$20 are supposed to be pretty good according to choice.

    • +1

I bought one of the aldi ones and it was terrible. A button sprung out on first touch, spring never to be found again. and the strap shipped with a dead battery. Maybe I was very unlucky but I won't be buying of those again. Had fun answering the "Why are you returning it sir?" question. Ended up making the guy laugh when I'd finished explaining my reasons.

  • Ordered one but I clicked on image, sorry I missed the referral link in my haste to check it out.
Didn't even notice it was there to be honest. May have been added later?
    Cheers.

Bought this 2 yrs ago for $90 on eBay
    Great Intermediate HRM
    TIZ with alarms + usual
    Occasional sensor pickup issues

  • Seams interesting, any other watches for $50-$75 as i can see me using it but i doubt i would ever want to upgrade. Any other noteworthy features to aim for in a more expensive watch that this lacks?

    • Yeah I upgraded for computer connectivity & gps functionality (for way more than this)
      Maybe better waterproofing ?
Had most of the features I was looking for

I don't understand why people need products like these…

    • +4

Because of the heart rate zones when it comes to fitness and exercise
For example, if you want to burn fat, then you have to be in a rate zone that's appropriate for your age

        NVM I cbb, neg away.

It was a good question to ask, with a great answer given.

Because by "feel" mostly isn't correct. PRE might be ok for a while, but this tells you what you are really doing. Proper HR training benefits need more than PRE. These let you really know whats going on.
And gives you something to play with when you get bored :)
and this one has more than just the basic HRM features

  • Just out of interested as i hardly ever use Amazon what do affiliate links give you? Still tossing up whether to buy this but if i do ill go through your affiliate link, just curious thats all.

    • It gives the poster some commission from Amazon directly, at no cost to you…. and during April only, one unicorn sticker per sale.

      • Is it a decent amount, like is it worth his time? Like i said i'll go through it as i know it costs me nothing, just wondering if its like 0.00002 of a cent or something lol

        • Isn't a pony enough ?

        • No idea for sure, but its probably given as a function of total profit made by amazon on the sale. Seeing as how deals posted here only get rated well if they're at their all time lowest ever price, its probably safe to say he gets less than a $1 per referred sale. Given how many deals easternculture posts, either hes spending a lot of time searching amazon or he has some pretty amazing automation scripts running.
Either way, imo he deserves whatever he gets from it.

        • It varies by type of item and number of items sold per month. I'd say it averages approximately 4%. The pages are public on Amazon if you ever want to check them out.

  • Tried to buy - won't ship to Australia.

    • Just ordered with no issues shipping to Perth.

  • Cheers mate, just ordered one with your referral link.

  • So what other functions does this have apart from heart rate monitor. I cant seem to see any specs on the amazon page. Does it have a stopwatch and alarm?

  • Can you tell me how I can order one blue and one orange watch? I've tried to order two watches but there's no option to nominate colors when I do. I tried to make two seperate orders but it then charges me postage.
I'd like to order two, blue and orange and pay for them as one transaction.
    Thanks

  • Ta, ordered one using the referral link :) I have no issues in helping out a fellow cheapskate when they find me good deals :D

I've just started exercising again (as of last week), so this will definitely come in handy.

  • Have been looking for a running watch for a while, and this one seems really good! Could anyone tell me if it has a lap timer/counter function please? Or any affordable HR monitor watches with the lap function please?

Thanks OP, now I am ready to train for my first Ironman :)

  • Are these any good for using with the fitness apps such as Runtastic? I guess those require you to buy certain brands to work :/

  • might be a dumb question but does it show the time as well?

    • The two different branded ones I've owned did :) Though using them purely as a watch looks a bit cheesy.

  • just to use at work so i don't wreck my decent watches, cheers click-it.

    • No worries. Yeah looking at it that way, it's a cheap 2-for-1 buy for you.

  • ol gils going to be up and running again

  • Just ordered on amazon for AUD$38.15. Youtube review seems like it is a good value model, tells time also.

  • Why doesnt it give the time on the same screen?:( Thats annoying

  • Ordered! Thanks.

  • Now US$49.19 + US$36.99 postage = US$89.18 (from MrWatch)

  • Arrived today. Should do the job.

  • Hi,
I'm looking for a Timex HRM which has a user replaceable battery and chronograph with lap /split. Is the Road Trainer the most appropriate? Is there any other which are lowish cost with these features?
