Stokke Sleepi Bed Display Model $779.40 Mothercare Chermside QLD

70

Mothercare is in administration and they are selling these cots, which I have to admit do cost at least over one thousand dollars.

http://www.mothercare.com.au/

I bought one from Garden City and that was the only model they had. And I noticed today Chermside has one as well. Not sure if $779.40 justifies the price but if for some reason your interested…

Might be worth while calling mothercare stores in other states if your keen.

They also got some good deal on display model Boori Country cots.

does it come with myrrh and frankincense?

  • Just curious - what is a fair price for normal, run of the mill cot?

  • +11

Well this one is a fancy piece of furniture looks really groovy. However at 3am in the morning trying to get the little tyke to sleep you wouldn't give a shit if it was a couple of milk crates glued together.

Anyway $300 to $400 is an average price for a good cot.

  • Is it the small(round) or the bigger(oval) one?
(it's the same product and you add extension parts)
I saw this cot yesterday at the Baby Warehouse Taren Point, the small one goes for $840 and the big $1040, if i'm not wrong, and they had plenty in stock

    • This is the full cot, not the mini. They have the mini for sale for around the mid 500 mark from memory.
This can convert to the mini with a mini mattress and base or the kids size bed with an extension check their website.

  • Be a true OzBargainer and co sleep, it's free.

    • Lack of sleep for a week is free as well.

  • Rounded cots are common in Europe, as they are the traditional design over there.

$300-500 is the cost for a decent cot.

I was told warranty will be through Stokke, its 7 years if you fill up the warranty card.

    • Could be terms of a creditor though, i.e. 29th Jan may have been the date they were engaged/handed over the stock to sell?

Good price, you can prolly offload it on eBay for $4-500 easy after using it for a while.

Agreed. Wife insisted on getting a $500 stokke highchair for our first born. It was a total pos but who am I to argue with a pregnant woman.

Finally after using it in anger and her realising how douchey it was, we Sold it on ebay for $100 profit (we bought in uk, sold here). Bought an ikea special for $40 and never looked back.

      IKea cots are good too.

      • for kids aged 3+ there's no better chair than stokke :)

        • +1

At that age they usually want to progress to a real chair, unless their parents want to scar them for life.

        • unless their parents want to scar them for life, at that age a kids chair is better ergonomically than an adult one :)

stumo, sounds like your wife is the smarter one! Paid for your other cot plus change.

      • Supposedly these things last till the kid turns 18 years old or that's the salespitch I was fed with.

Found an outgoing model for as low as $250 from DJ in Bondi Junction. Had to pass it up as it's the wrong colour (black…)

    • Was the only rational for me buying one.

  • Going by the comments I think we'll stick with the handcut oaten straw and double wax banana box.

looked at the stokke, got a vulu cot instead, much sturdier. Besides who wants a stokke anyway? Roam around chinatown and every other pram is a counterfeit stokke. I swear Stokke is like the most counterfeit pram on the planet, just take a look on alibaba.

What does this got to do with the price of fish?

    • stokke stroller isn't as practical as their chair - bugaboo is better :)

  • leander are the best - stokke cots are a pita to assemble :)

  • This is just very very expensive cots now discounted, no wonder they are in bankruptcy. Original prices are just ridiculous.

To be fair, it's not Mothercare's fault - Stokke aren't cheap to begin with and their Australian distributor just made it worse. It's just the usual "lucky country" tax like everything else.

Again to be fair to their Australian distributor, they honoured the warranty of my Xplory that was purchased overseas from an authorised reseller. They could've told me to rack off and request the replacement part there.

Actually, if you've bought a Bugaboo of some description and getting sick and tired of getting the replacement frames to be sent out/repaired, you too will be able to justify the Xplory…dealing with toddlers is hard enough but worse if you have to chase up the pram repairs constantly.
