  • Not to discount it as a good deal, just wish the screen resolution were FHD.

  • i'd be happy with 1600 by 1400 but its not.. ;(

  • +1

Touch screen is what you want if its Windows 8

  • +2

It boggles my mind that someone can write out so many specs to describe everything about this laptop in such detail, and somehow skip the weight. I mean, it's an ultrabook. The reason you buy this and not a 15" that's twice as powerful for the same price is the weight, why do so many companies not make it prominent >.<

    /rant

    • Good rant, and i can't disagree. Screen size and weight are important with these things.

1.12kg is the stated weight based on the link provided, in case anyone can't be bothered hunting around for it :).

      • Ahh, I wasn't sure if it was on there - for some reason I can't load the quick/manufacturers specs. I found the same weight on the Toshiba site and on that note, it does seem like an all round excellent buy (if one could get past that terrible screen resolution).

        • Yeah, Bing Lee's website does not work too well on Firefox. It's a little better of IE but I still can't get it to show me the estimated shipping. And that is why I haven't mentioned anything about it in the description.

    • @Alzori, it's a rant, but a good one.

Updated description with weight. Oddly, it says (from) 1.12Kg…

      • +1

I'm guessing it is 1.12, usually they say that since it increases if you have a regular HDD in there, or possibly a different RAM/battery config. Either way, it's pretty light for what it is.

        Also, a review here: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/notebooks/toshiba/satel…

They seem to like it, besides the screen. They didn't like the screen because of the glossiness though, not the resolution.

  • Would be nice if it is 1600x900 resolution.

    • Yep, 1366x768 should be classified as Low Definition these days. Especially when a 400 dollar phone has a 1280x768 screen.

  • Wow, 1.12 kg. Getting close to being competitive with those windows 8 tablets with removable keyboards.

I think the laptop will get hot fast though.
Most of these only have a small fan on top of the CPU, or in some cases no fan at all.

If this was an atom, I wouldn't be so concerned but doesn't the i5 consume a lot of power?
It might be wise to get one of those laptop coolers to place underneath.

    • These run ultra low voltage processors… They generate only about as much heat as an atom… And the alloy shell acts as a giant heatsink. In terms of power consumption you are probably lower consumption than the atom processors. These have a TDP of 15w if I remember correctly

  • If only this was around last week…

  • This is a good price, bought one of these just before xmas, paid $1099 from JB Hifi…

  • looks good for the price! is it touch screen?

    • No, it isn't.
