As I'm reading this, DSE ad on TV has it for $798.
    Static Ice best is $778.

  • 60GB 4200rpm drive. Really, HP? Really? You're going to go with that? You don't think you could have spent the extra $5 on the parts and gotten a 160GB 5400rpm?

Note: Not a reflection of the price/ozbargain listing, just a preference. And anyone who think it's for reasons of power/speed… well, it's about 1W difference, would alter the battery life by less than 2% and it'd make virtually no heat difference (unless it's designed incredibly poorly)

it uses a 1.8" HDD instead of 2.5"

      • Wow, so it's even worse than I thought.

yeh but because you don't use many hard disk intensive programs 4200rpm and 5400rpm doesn't make very much difference or does it?

and if you use it as a netbook intended (net and word and reading), I can't see why you'd need more than 60gb HDD?

though for me its a moot point atm, i'm tossing up between HP2140 or this one

      hehe :)

the rpm would make loading times slightly longer.

I'd say get this one, this is a very very sexy netbook ^_^

I couldn't stop touching the display unit at hardy normals lol!!!

my next upgrade will be the asus eeepc multitouch version coming out in a few months :P

I just lik touching things ROFL!!!

agree with zenger, Netbook is a Netbook. HP has the largest keypad and great screen in a tiny package. 2140 is a great little package with 160GB 2.5" disk also for low $800, if HP has cashback on that I would most certainly take 2140. My post here is not about choose the best netbook, but the cheapest way to get your hands on a mini 1001 right now for those who admires one :P

  • i got a 08' model compaq/hp laptop, long story short, basically it is a heater/toaster in winter…

what about these netbooks, produce same/more amount of heat as their bigger brothers ?

    • Did u get the HP2133? yeh the VIA gets pretty hot. These laptops are much better according to the reviews.

The plastic 1001 don't get as hot as the metal version 2140
