$90 for a knife? yeah, i think i'll stick with my local $2 shop

    • Well, they're not all $90. They have some $4 knives as well. Shipping kinda kills that though.

    • +6

      I said that until I got a Global G-2.

Never again would I cook with a '$2' knife.

    • +3

You clearly have never used a good knife before.

  • Since it's online only, you might want to include shipping info:
    Shipping:
$10 Flat Rate per order and FREE SHIPPING for orders over $59 (Inc GST)
    Delivery: 5-7 Working Days
    Dispatch: Next business day

    hahahahahaha
I always laugh when i read these over inflated RRPs.
$999 for a 10 piece scanpan set - you've got to be kidding.

a quick google search tells me everything you're advertising can be found cheaper (and with free postage)

    example: http://www.yourhomedepot.com.au/products/scanpan/cookware-se…

You'll have to offer better prices than this to survive around here OP

    • Yeah, I was about to post pretty much the same thing.

Good price if your only option is HOUSE? Yes. Good price compared to other retailers? No.

      • -1

Why would your only option ever be only 'House'?

        • It wouldn't. Which is sort of my point.

    • Overinflated or not, it's what Scanpan list as the RRP on their official site.

      http://www.scanpan.com.au/products/view/315/10%20pc%20cookwa…

In practice, sure, it never reaches it. But it's there.

Another type of deceptive two price advertising involves comparisons with the
recommended retail price (RRP). If, as is sometimes the case, this price is not actually
charged by the company or its competitors, it would be misleading to advertise goods
and compare the price to the RRP. For example, if the product’s RRP was $150 but it
regularly sold for $140, a ‘$10 off RRP’ offer of $140 would probably be misleading.
In that situation the consumer is led to believe that the RRP is the same as the market
price or the advertiser’s own previous price, whereas it may be quite different.

71% Off the RRP that I have never, ever, seen Scanpan sold for

  • I see this as spam… Waste of my time!

  • Sure there is slightly cheaper around, but this is still a good price for very good cookware. I don't think it is worth a neg for that.

    • +1

Then you don't understand the point of this website.

    • "very good cookware"? Do you own any scanpan, and have you ever tried using it at high heat?
Scanpan themselve say that damage due to high heat is not covered under warranty, because they think "high heat is unnecessary".
It's overpriced and low quality. Bought a set from Analon a while ago, and find it much better.

      • +2

I'm not particularly impressed with my Analon cookware either. The fry pan has developed some dodgy areas of it's nonstick surface after only 18 months.

      • +1

Have a scanpan set that is about 10 years old. Had one frying pan slightly warp in the base after extreme heat, had it replaced under warranty with no problems and no cost to me. Has not happened since.

  • +2

The 10 piece cookset looks great, I think i might have to get that!!

    • It's $25 cheaper at yourhomedepot.com.au.

      • Yep, 71% off claim is fake and misleading, and it's cheaper at YHD.

  • House, Strandbags and numerous others are the same, I have a quiet laugh when I see their '70% off' sales. after all the price cutting they always seem to land on the actual retail price online!
