Whilst trawling the aisles of Officeworks searching for those glorious yellow "clearance" tags, I came across this. As far as I know this is the cheapest so far - but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Nah it looks like the easiest way is to call your local officeworks then get them to look on the computer to find out which stores have stock
Ohhh, At that price it's definitely worth grabbing one to load all my books onto.
These look pretty hackable, if you want a cheap Linux-based WiFi-enabled low-power e-ink display:
