Jurassic Park 3D Blu-Ray 3D/ Blu-Ray/ UV Copy $20.98 Pre-Order @ JB HI FI

50

Best price I've see for a pre-order of Jurassic Park 3D on Blu-ray. This is about $20 cheaper than Amazon factoring in postage, but it releases in the USA later this month and not till June in Australia. The US version also includes a DVD copy and another digital copy not in UV format. If you don't need the other formats and can wait a while then this seems like a price that is unlikely to be beaten for a while.

    UV copy

Do you need special glasses or will any UV glasses do?

    • The UV copy has nothing to do with the 3D, it is a 2D copy of the film stored in a digital locker system called 'Ultra Violet'. From what I understand you can watch this copy of the film in iOS, Android, PC, Mac, etc. It is basically just another way of providing digital copies that isn't dependant on iTunes. I don't think it is available in Australia yet but it must be coming soon because JB is offering a number of pre-order titles with this format included.

LOL. And all this time I seriously thought every Bluray was bundling a digital copy of that crappy Milla Jovovich film, wondering why that movie was so special and who is asking for it.

      • Haha, sorry I was just editing my post to include the Wiki link when yours came up. Also, according to this link Ultra Violet is available in Australia from May 1st, starting with The Hobbit. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2013/04/ultraviolet-in-australia-e…

Also there's a Minecraft version somewhere on YouTube

Is that included in the deal above?

  • i wouldn't suggest anyone buy/pre-order from amazon in the US anyway as chances are this is region locked so better off buying locally or from the UK (for the bluray anyway… UK dvd's are a different region also)

certainly not a bad price for a 3d bluray… probably because its such an old movie lol

cheaper than a ticket to see the 3d version at the cinemas

You must be going to the wrong cinema

  • This is being released in the US in a weeks time. Why is it taking so long for release in Australia. Movie studios treating Australia like a backwater. No wonder piracy happens when they can't even buy the movie here until a few months after it's already released in the US.

Just an update. The pre-order is now $19.98 so $1 cheaper now.

    • Price quoted by OP is $19.98 + 99c shipping = $20.98

      • Ahhhh that figures. I forgot to include the shipping. But with 99c shipping that makes it out to be $20.97 delivered a whole 1c cheaper now. Unless the OP just rounded it up by 1c. But as i said the actual amount is $20.97 delivered.

  • Is this true 3D or post process cardboard cut-like in the style John Carter was?
I had so grand expectations about that movie (loved the books) and so bitterly disappointed…

    • Just read some reviews, seems that the re-release is pretty good and the cardboard cut effect is minimal (monsters were CGI anyway, easy to 3D-ize..)

    • How could it be true 3D when the original movie was made long before 3D movie was heard of and would have been filmed in 2D. They've likely just converted the 2D video to 3D.

Not sure about this but the special effects (CGI) are in fact 3D by design and are rendered flat in 2D at the time they are added to the filmed parts. That is why is relatively easy to re-render (the source models/frames are usually still available) and produce 3D.
