Dose not fit a cm690 and I'm sure most other gaming towers

      • +3

        Assembled Dimensions (WxDxH): 420(W) x 240(D) x 150mm (H)

its not that big, maybe ok for mini to mid tower but then why would you need it for a light duty mid?

      • +2

Buy a piece of MDF to fit your gaming tower from any hardware store, drill 4 holes, and install the railings and castors from this kit. Job done.

        • +4

          this can replace my skateboard

        • +5

Where did I said you need to buy additional castors, rails and screws? These are supplied in the $5 kit! All you need to buy is one MDF board and the $5 kit, noob.

I find it insulting for you to suggest that my labour is miserable, and that I will bugger up drilling 4 holes with the kit board as my template. Measure where you want the holes to go in the new board, clamp the kit board onto the new board at the correct place, and drill through the pre-existing holes in the kit board.

        • He meant use the castors, rails, and screws from this $5 kit with a piece of MDF that you custom-cut to fit whatever size your PC is.

edit: oops, missed the previous reply after idling for too long!

        • That piece of MDF is going to look like shit though.

        • if your sawing skills are up to scratch, it'll fit the base of your pc perfectly and you'll barely see the MDF.

        • +2

Nope, I buy Italian MDF as used on the space shuttle. Beautiful.

        • Bunnings offers free cutting service. It uses special high speed saw mounted on rigs to cut your MDF board to exact measurement without damaging the surface coat. (And saves you from inhaling MDF dust.) If you are concerned with the exposed wood edges, you can apply adhesive decorative trims too. The result can be close to professional standard.

        • Bunnings refuses to cut MDF for exactly the reasons you stated.

        • Spray paint it black, job done.

        • Bunnings cuts are far from exact. You can't guarantee cuts cause the width of the blade.

        • Space Shuttles are made of Italian MDF? No wonder they blow up.

          Too soon?

        • So don't use MDF!
A real OzBargainer grabs a free pallet, pries off selected planks and bingo! A quality "timber floor" style deck.

But still beware of the original item before you drill.

          • Material: Solid MDF Construction
          • Finish: PVC Paper
        • I think some people here are confusing MDF with cheaper chipboard (looks like Weetbix inside.)
The white melamine-coated board at Bunnings is not MDF.

    "Use for relocating CPU"
A computer is not a CPU damn it! Even boxes are doing this now.

    • +7

In their defence, it is used for relocating the CPU. Other things as well, but the CPU is in a different location after you use this.

    • True, but even the computer industry does it. e.g. HDD, HTPC.

    • OW-CPU-HLDR
      Cpu holder :D

  • How much weight in Kgs does it carry any idea.

    • Check the OW link above. Under questions/answers:

"The weight rating for OWCPUHLDR is 40kg. Yes this is the maximum recommended weight rating."

  • just bought the last 2 at OW fivedock

Strap one on each foot & you have yourself some jumbo roller skates.

    • lol well I have CP won't be trying anything like that just bought them to wheel around some heavier items at home as well as for my pc tower

  • Been wanting to get my tower off the floor for a while now, the difference in dust build up will be huge.

    • I doubt if raising it 50mm or so will make any significant difference.

  • +12

Put a leash on it and take your computer for a walk.

  • Wheels are one of the reasons I've got a HAF-X case.

    Thanks OP.
    Good timing!
I would like to find out the maximum weight it can carry so that I know how many kilos of seedless watermelon from ALDI I can put on this trolley.

    • +1

40kg. That'll cost you $19.60. How you're going to get 40kg of watermelons on that small thing is your problem!

  • Wonder if it fits my fish tank filter

  • Yes i can finally try out curling like in sochi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb0dYGAjYDU

  • Wonder if I can put my 2 years old boy and pull around while shopping….

  • Waste of $5. Just carry it.

  • I prefer to have my computer unit off the floor to minimise dust intake, so perfect for that.

    • How much will a few centimeters help? I'm sure the back of your monitor is dusty too.

      • Yes, but my monitors do not have fans in them sucking in dust to the interior.

        • As I said, how will a few centimetres help?

If dust settles on your monitor that's 1.5 meters off the ground, won't it still be there 5 centimetres off the ground for your fans to suck?

My PSU is on top of my PC case. That's about 50cm off the ground, and it still gets dusty. The vent it pulls air in from is only about 10cm below.

  • none left Vic

  • Several at Ringwood, Vic about 3 hours ago.

  • Thanks, just picked one up at South Melbourne, and there were 2 remaining now.

    • Make that 1 remaining at South Melbourne now.

  • I'm years ahead of this movement. My file server has been on caster wheels since 2004 (2003?)

The old chieftec cube case I think it was called, I think they went out of business but it was/is a great case. Bulky and heavy, I'll be decommissioning mine soon with a 8 bay NAS. Maybe I'll sell it, maybe I'll just roll around on it - it can handle 100kg without problem lol.

  • picked up the last one from Northmead this morning.

    Regards.

  • Confirmed this is on clearance up in QLD stores too.

Picked up two this morning from officeworks Newmarket (Brisbane QLD), i left one on the shelf. Not even sure I need two, lol.
