$100 Price drop. Typical retail $199, lowest price previously seen, $178.

Quad core, 7 inch HD display, 1Gb RAM, 16Gb storage and microSd expansion (up to 32Gb), Android 4.2

Similar (slightly inferior) specs as the 2012 Google Nexus but with microSD slot. Both are capable tablets, especially if all you need is something to browse the web, check emails, watch movies and read ebooks.

Range of colors available - blue, green, grey, pink and white

I believe the sale ends Monday.

Short summary of reviews :
A tablet that punches above its weight (at the retail price of $199) with an excellent screen and great battery life
Mediocre camera (but who really buys a tablet for its camera???)
Slightly plastic body

I think its a great buy for $99, and from an established manufacturer, but i'll leave it open for the community to discuss =)

    just a note: in some cases, choosing local store pickup won't let you pick it up right away. i've had to wait 3 days before they rang to tell me it was ready to come get.

    I have 2x Nexus 7 v1. These Memo Pads look like they could be a good option for the kids (2 and 4yo)including using in the car instead of the 7 inch dvd player.

    I would avoid this. It uses a mediatek chipset, and despite them saying they will be better compliant with the GPL, its still a fair hassle getting newer versions of android onto them. If you want upgradability, I would suggest something with a snapdragon chipset.

      Most Chinese phones are using mtk CPU. I doubt google wants to give up the Chinese market.

    After my last Hardly Normal order I'd rather pick my eyes out with a stick then deal with them again. Harvey Norman can't count past 2 when completing orders it seems, then they make you feel like YOU are being shonky when you tell them you didn't get the required quantity. No thanks.

    The Good Guys link was better. So thanks for that! And for those that still have their Good Guys Gift Cards from the Great Gaming Sale they had many months ago (and that was sold out of most titles), now's the chance to use it before it runs out at the end of the year. These tablets really should come with REMOVABLE BATTERIES. It's a damn shame we live in such a wasteful society. I'll make this tablet live forever if it kills me. I am eager to get this ROOTED too, so there will possibly be less corporate SPYWARE on the thing.

    Nice bargain, thank you. (this will be my first tablet and I still feel dirty for buying it, but…I think the gift card made me bite)

        Yeah it was a great find but it was not my find. It's a technical error according to customer service but you will get a case providing stock is available

        Edit: just picked mine up and came with a genuine ASUS case.

      Surprised to see the Asus has GPS as well, doesn't seem to be mentioned in the specs anywhere..

    Have mine in front of me now and annoyed I didn't get 2
    Shites all over the nextbook,(sound, screen quality) so that's definitely going back to BigW
    Also has a bluetooth switch and a GPS switch in settings which was a surprise.
    Many other nice little things as well, cant talk now, new toy to play with.

        Wow, that's impressive. I'm in a situation where I can pick it up at any point in the coming week, but am leaving my city for almost a month after that, so it's pretty crucial that it gets ready within the week. I might try calling a few nearby stores to check if they have stock.

    Just picked up mine from Prospect TGG. This is why I love OzBargain! Had no idea about the free case, until I read lostboi's post. They didn't know about the free case instore, so they checked the catalogue and brought out extra cases for the 7 other orders yet to be picked up. They had black, blue and pink. I may have taken the last black one.
