3 Months Free Streaming TV & Movies from Presto Via Telstra

4700
TEL515

UPDATE: See this comment. Presto has changed the free months to 3 (instead of 6).

Telstra are giving T-Box customers 6 months of free Presto - but it's just a coupon code so can't see why it wouldn't work for everyone.

Make sure you access it through presto.com.au/telstra - fill in your details, confirm your email address, then choose the $14.99 a month plan and apply the coupon code in the box below it and it will give you 6 months 3 months of free Presto.

Presto has it's flaws, the catalogue is a bit average especially for TV - I think Netflix and Stan are better, but it's pretty great for free.

You've got until June 30 to take up the offer and you do need to provide credit card details - just make sure you cancel before the trial is up if you don't want to be charged.

Enjoy!

They could have caused people to get unexpected payments with this slippery move, but then again, free is free and I'm not a Tbox subscriber, so personal carefactor is low.

    • and how is that not going to happen exactly?

      • +2

        What do you mean? Unclear.

        • -4

'They could have caused people to get unexpected payments with this slippery move'

and how is that not going to happen exactly?

          clearer?

          @rolly2112:
No thats just repeating the above with a bit of 'tude.
You are coming over as a bit of a smart-arse, son.
          CBF replying any more.

        • -5

ok so you don't want to reply and now also indulging in name calling? So you're joining in the beat up from the negs adding.

Justify what you want - people stalk in packs usually……….

          @rolly2112:

I'm pretty sure King meant people might think they are getting 6 months free, when actually they will start being charged after 3 months.

I couldnt really make out what your question in reply to that was either, to be honest.

        • @rolly2112:

How dare you call me names, I have rights!

  • +1

So they changed to 3 months even already signed up :(

Anyway nothing interesting with their service and quality.

  • +2

I'm guessing they figured out people would have watched everything worth watching in their catalogue within 3 months… So who needs 6.

  • What is a presto? Can I eat it?

  • +4

would it be appropriate to neg the thread because telstra are shitheads?

  • +3

Completely sensible to make it 3 months. With that crap video quality and tiny range of collection, they probably think they may as well shut it down after 3 months.

  • +1

That's so wrong to change it without notifying people, I had a calendar reminder setup in time to cancel it before 6 months, but if I didn't hear on here that it changed back I would have been billed for this awful, cringeworthy streaming service.

  • +2

The problem is that now the real T-Box owners are also getting their free trials cut back to 3 months.

News Corp. have altered the deal. Pray they don't alter it further.

  • Not much of a selection, glad I didn't pay a cent for this.

Thanks OP. The trial was handy to determine that this service is inferior to Netflix

  • +2

Signed up this morning, and watched my first film this afternoon ("The Big Lebowski"). Thanks OP… :-)

    • Ha, that's exactly what I did after signing up.

  • So anyone have the new code? :)

  • Wow. Glad I noticed this as I set up reminders to cancel before the 6 months. God forbid I pay anything for this rubbish service!!

Update Just cancelled my sub all together. Not one thing interested me on Presto. Ill stick with Netflix

    • Same. Who knows if they'll unilaterally change the deal again without any notice. Just cancelled it all together seeing my phone isn't supported and I have no interest in watching it on my laptop.

What was interesting was they don't ask any questions when you cancel it. You'd think they'd want stats on why people are cancelling but it seems not.

  • +2

Cancelled too… Before they change it to a 1 week deal and charge me for this garbage.

How sad they can't even give it away… :D

  • Just had a look at the site faqs.

    Am I missing something?

Small catalogue, not even close to netflix.
    No HD!!!??
    No surround sound.

I couldnt even find a doco section..

And it's MORE expensive than Netflix!?

  • Did I miss something?
I'm fairly sure that in the whole signup process, there was no mention of me being a T-box user. Nothing in the T&C fine print?
I just went through a generic signup process, with this promo code of the interweb.
Isn't it a legal contract? (payment has been agreed, cards authorised)

And in 3 months, we will have a few unsuspecting people billed for this? In theory, big corporations can be charged with criminal fraud, but after the GFC it is clear they can get away with worse than murder. So I suppose Telstra feel entitled to make such a small crime with impunity.

    • +1

Yep. Go sue them for $45 if you can be bothered.

      • +2

Try stealing a small item from the Telstra shop, and use that logic when caught :)

        • +1

          This isn't a theft. It's a contractual issue.

Different things. You want to right a wrong in a civil issue you need to sue them.

        • -1

          @SirFlibbled:

Not providing an agreed service, or not paying would be civil.

Taking money when not authorised is a bit more serious. Especially when a deliberate act.
And this coming from people who say sharing is a criminal offence.

  • Guys if you do own a Tbox you can get the trial switched back to 6 months.

You have to email [email protected] with your username and your t box registration number which you can find on the label under your t box.

  • Guys if you want the 6 months code, here is the link

So I just checked my account this morning and it was 3 months, now its back to 6 months

Anyone getting the new 6 months amount now? (signed up Thursday 26/03)

  • +1

Mine has also reverted back to 6 months.

  • lol back to six for me too! Wtf are they doing?

    • +1

Probably found that cant legally do it, or got too much backlash from legitimate signups. Also I canceled mine (and probably others here did the same) so they may have got a shock if there were enough doing the same.

My cancellation doesnt really affect me as I found it wasnt that great and I have Netflix access for what I want.

So my "protest" was pretty simple to do .. :)

Can always use another email address etc and sign up again ;)

      • What I found interesting when I cancelled in 'protest' was that they don't even ask you why you're leaving like many businesses do.

        • No, but if you stay a second month they do have a 'why are you staying?!?' Questionnaire….

        • +1

@Pobman: Is "I forgot to cancel" an option?

  • Just signed up for a new account and got 6 months using code TEL515

  • +1

Checked..Signed up as 6 months it switched to 3 and now Presto 6 months.
At least the name reflects what is happening.

  • Is it just me or is the iOS app buggy as shit.

    • The Android app is just as you describe…

      • If I pause for more then 1 minute and try and resume the app will crash.

Half the time there is no pause button just the loading icon and the other half of the time the app can't see the chromecast

        • Given everything: the "quality" of the apps, the lack of good content, the less than SD picture quality, I'd be surprised if Presto is still around in 6 months time.

  • 6 months still seems to be working. Thanks OP!

  • Recent listing of all movies available:

    http://www.finder.com.au/presto-movies

  • I think this might have expired. Just tried signing up with code TEL515 , and got this error: "FAILED
Your promo code was not recognised
Continue with sign up or try again by re-entering your code."

Also tried another browser, and tried all lowercase instead of uppercase: none worked.

I'm not deeply concerned as I've read the comments here, and it all sounds rather unimpressive, and I've used netflix.

    • I got the same error. try TEL615. that worked for me

  • Mine is still registered for 6 months….

    Strange..

    This code also works: TEL415
