Quite hard to specify a price considering there are multiple plans to choose from :)

        • +11

So you wouldn't support a 20% off ebay offer then?

        • +3

I just got 12gb data, unlimited calls and text in Aus, 300 mins and unlimited text to select countries, and free music streaming for $30 month (sim only for 12 months). This is definitely a bargain.

        • +2

          @jv: the are limits JV.

      • What happens at the end of the 12 month contract?

          @tonester: Thanks. Still confused. :o/

Each unique link can only be used to redeem the 25% discount offer up to a maximum of 10 redemptions.

$32.50 per month for iPhone 7 Plus on the $100 plan after you take out the retail price of the phone which is epically good for 15GB data, unlimited calls and 400 international minutes

    • -4

      Plus on the $100 plan

I'm on a $40 plan with 11GB data that roll over, unlimited national calls and text and $600 in international credit… Can't see how paying $60 more is a bargain…

      • +1

do you have an iPhone 7 Plus though?

        • -8

That's an extra cost… I'm talking about the plan you quoted.

    • +1

Maybe need to clarify your wording? Is it $32.50 for the plan or the iphone?

Happy to remove the offer from here if it bothers you that someone is posting a 25% off link?

        • maybe he used to be a sister from another mister

  • +1

geez. $30 per month for their 12gb plan. insanity. my 10gb contract must be up soon!

  • +4

$48.75 for the S7 with 7GB of data. Man, that is an amazing deal and makes me cry that I'm paying $65/month for the next 15 months for it.

    • +1

Just about to say the same thing ^.^

Wow that is an awesome deal! I got a mobile through a Harvey Norman deal a few months back, but now I kinda wished I'd waited

In fact, if you have a optus broadband connect and you don't have a mobile with them, you are losing money

Take the Samsung S7 with 7GB data plan. Normally $65 a month. Total cost over 24 months is 1560
With this deal, that drops down to 1170. Sell the phone for at least 600, the bonus gearfit for $100, minus the $20 a month discount on your broadband, >and the sim ends up being just -40c month. That's right, optus will be paying you 40c a month to have the sim.

      • That sounds interesting, but using your maths I'm getting a figure of $230 over 24 months ($1170 less $600 for selling the phone, less $100 for selling Gear Fit, less $240 for the $20/month discount) which ends up being $9.58/mth. Am I missing something?

        • +1

The broadband would be a 24 month contract, not 12 months.

          So this makes it 1170-600-100-480 = -$10 altogether = -$0.42/month

        • +1

$20/month discount multiplied by 24 months is $480

        • @pantsparty: Ah I miscalculated $20 * 24! I only did * 12 - makes sense now. Thanks both.

      • Do you get a stacked discount if you have broadband with them?

        • Stacked? Like multiple mobile plans? No that doesn't work

        • @outlander: No, as in this discount, plus what you said above;

In fact, if you have a optus broadband connect and you don't have a mobile with them, you are losing money

          and..

.. minus the $20 a month discount on your broadband ..

So they give you $20/month off your broadband if you have a mobile plan with them?

        • @ryang:

Yes. Optus give a $20 discount on broadband to anyone with them that has a postpaid mobile plan

        • @outlander:

T&C from above states: Not available in conjunction with any other discount offer

So are you sure the $20 broadband discount is still valid if we take this offer?

        • @outlander: Be careful, having signed up to this Optus Mobile deal, I have been told that my existing broadband is not valid for the discount. Not happy Optus!

        • @snensnay:
Really? Thats BS. The way I read it, the discount is on the broadband, not the mobile, so the two shouldn't conflict

        • @outlander: Hidden in the T & Cs is that if your broadband was started prior to May 2016 you don't qualify. You have to recontract to a minimum $80 per month plan. So I have cancelled my mobile order.

      • You are not going to get $600 for the s7 which is about to be superceded but your point stands

        • I sold mine for $670 at the start of February
Optus offers a 2year warranty on handsets, so its worth a little more than the competition

        • @outlander: on ebay? it would come down now and by the time people get their devices. They have until march 28th before prices fall hard.

id be all over this if i didnt already have an s7 or the $20 discount already (without having an optus phone!)

        • +3

          @furythree:

Same here mate, if the discounts stacked I'd buy 10 of them no hesitations. Optus has another benefit to it, that they allow you to purchase data share sims for a one time fee of $5. So you can share the 7gb between multiple devices. Makes it even more attractive

        • +1

@outlander: i have a work phone with free data :) but i youre right

      • Thanks good advice. Just wondering to ask I have no broadband contact yet. if I sign up for both will get this benefit too? Thanks

  • +1

Eligible for the first 10 redemptions only. 25% discount will appear from second bill. Order may take up to 3 days to be processed

  • "25% Family & Friends discount: Family and friends of Optus employees who receive a unique link shared by an Optus employee, will receive 25% discount of access fees for 12 months when they sign up to a 12 month SIM Only Online plan or 24 months when they sign up to a 24 month My Plan Plus. Available to new services only. Each unique link can only be used to redeem the 25% discount offer up to a maximum of 10 redemptions."

    • Note the 10 redemptions limit.
  • -6

"I'm an existing Optus customer, am I eligible to recontract with these offers?
No. This offer is only available for new Consumer Postpaid mobile services."

    Goddamit!!!

    • +1

not sure why that deserves a neg? port out and back in (as a "new" customer) if the deals are good enough to warrant doing so.

      • I'm not sure either………….the neg voters are strong with this one.

    • +1

is that a valid reason to neg vote?

    • Port out onto a cheap prepaid and then port back in - not sure it'll help you get these 10 redemptions as will probably take a few hours, but if you can find someone else who works for them, you might be able to get the same deal.

    • I called them and was told that as long as the system allows you to "keep your number" then it should be fine.

Oh well, lets wait and see

  • Any good deal for iPhone 7 Plus? $84.75 including discount is the cheapest I can find for the 128GB model.

  • can i stack this with STUDENT discount?

    • +1

From the Ts&Cs - "Not available in conjunction with any other discount offer and is not transferable or redeemable for cash"

Not eligible with any other discounts :)

    • You can try :)

  • +1

OP is there a way to know if the 10 redemptions are up? I have signed up but not sure if I'll be within the 10. I hope they don't charge full price saying i was not in the first 10.

Thanks for the deal though. Fantastic.

    Cheers

    • +1

The link shouldn't work after the 10 has expired. Once I have been made aware of the 10 being used I will update it and advise the Mod to include the other links.

    • OP, do you know if my wife can take this up, and I can then data-share with her as I am with Optus?

I think maybe the accounts have to be linked or on the same bill to do this, so can I link her account with mine after?

      • +1

If you sign up and have the same bill it will automatically data-share. That happened with my accounts automatically (they were linked).

        • But that would not be classified as a new customer as the account exists so would not get a discount.Correct me if I've misunderstood. I have a Post paid that is about to expire and just signed up for the tablet plan for my mum and added to my account. So I cannot even port out as the tablet will hold my account open and I'll not be a new customer.

        • @Popo:

I would probably confirm with sales - however from what I understand its if you order a "New" service. Doesn't matter if its attached to an existing account but please confirm with sales.

      • +1

djkelly69 - They just need to be under the same name, on the same account to share data

        • Yeah same name is the issue, as I am an existing optus customer, plus her phone/plan at the moment is obviously in her name.

        • @djkelly69: Offer is for a new service, like a port in mobile or new number or prepaid to post paid, doesn't matter if you are already a customer already with a service but doesn't include re-contracting services. To share data all services will have to be transferred to the same account, under the same name, which you can do at any time just by contacting customer care :) Hope this helps.

  • I'm an existing Optus customer, am I eligible to recontract with these offers?
No. This offer is only available for new Consumer Postpaid mobile services.

Pitty this is only available to new customers. Any offers available for existing customers who would like to recontract?

    • You could try porting away to another carrier, but the referrals might be exhausted by the time you try to come back.

      • So if I'm on optus prepaid, I cant' get this???

        • You would need to sign up to new postpaid plan

  • +10

Thanks for counting us as friends :) upvote from me.

Thanks dude! i successfully got this applied through chat even though i recontracted on Friday. $40 works for recontracting users

    • good to hear :D

      • +1

what a game-changing first post lol

    • how? did you just complete the online self form? what did you select for 'Please select your current mobile service provider'?

      • Hey I just went through chat on the Optus iOS app. Told the guy I re-signed on Friday understanding that was the best bang for my buck, but now my 'friend' who works at Optus has now given me a link for 25% off so I'd rather go on that being I'm still in the cooling off period.

  • Damn would've taken it up but I just signed up to the kogan 1 year plan.

    • Try getting a refund from Kogan mobile if you haven't activated already.

    • Just checked with Kogan - I was able to get a refund on the purchase I made with them for the 1 year plan. They should be able to do the same :)

      • Oh ok cool.. I haven't activated yet.. Did you call them up?

        • Sent them a message via their contact now page. They seemed happy to give me a refund on them.

        • @chl15: cool. I called them up and got a refund over the phone..

  • +3

I don't know about Optus but I know that when I worked at Vodafone they would have been pretty unimpressed with employees allowing their family and friends benefits to be used by strangers on the internet.

  • +1

    PM for link

    • Heads up: User Stevetheahcountsguy does not accept new conversations.
PS. would love a link :)

  • My contract ends 10th April. Hence I can recontract for free apparently on 10th March. Does this apply only if I recontract via an optus staff member via phone/livechat. Or I can cancel by myself with $0 penalty on 10th March and recontract using this Staff Offer?

Incredible deal on the S7 - includes a bonus Gear Fit 2 watch as well…

Annoyed I signed up for a Telstra $40 plan now!

  • This is awesome. I just signed up for a 12 month sim only plan using Chris's link. Enjoy your reward points!

  • Daniel's are all out. Use the other links people.

Does anyone know how to sign up to two new services but have them on the same account? Do I need to put the orders in separately?

    • +1

If you cant apply for 2 services together now and have to do separate orders, you can contact us later and consolidate the 2 numbers to a single account
