        • I just picked one up. I'm not into Zelda and am waiting for Mario Odyssey, so at first I was going to wait until much later in the year, but I figured getting $70 off would be a decent saving vs waiting for a Christmas special/bundle. I'm very happy with the purchase. I got Mario Kart 8 to entertain me until Odyssey comes out, and was crazy happy to see Wonder Boy in the eShop. The retro/HD flipping is awesome. So much nostalgia.

My mate also bought Mass Effect for Xbox on my credit card. So I spent $449 + $69 + $69. $350 on one card, and $237 on the other. So if I spend another $113, I'll get another $50 off.

I'll mention that Harvey Norman's extended warranty for the Switch gives 20% off your next 3 game purchases (including any you buy at the same time, and even for different consoles), but you can't price match. I don't normally go anywhere near extended warranties, but it was less than $60, and if you are looking to buy full price games, it almost pays for itself. I didn't take it, but it might be of interest to some.

        • I went back and got a set of Joy-cons for $105 (price matched Big W's $109). Now to find something to spend $8 on…

      • Big W is/was 449. Purchase with wish gift cards to save 22.45, so HN wpuld beat it with this deal if they price matched.

    • I thought Nintendo didn't want supply HN any gaming consoles since couple of years ago?

      • +1

HN didn't want to sell Nintendo since the GC. Then the Wii was a hit and HN changed their tune. Nintendo AUS told them to go jump.

  • Yes! It's back, last time I got an iPad mini for a good price during the Xmas period.

    • Is this pretty much the only way to buy the Ipad Air at a discount ?

Need to buy an Ipad Air for school, Thinking if this is the best out there..

      • I think the iPad mini that I brought was posted on ozbargain as it was cheap, then people mentioned the extra $50 off. That's why I jumped at the offer. If you have time then you can wait until a good price comes up. Or just go in store and see if you can get a good price, Office Works sometimes have iPads at good prices and they price match.

        • Yes that MIni was on clearance in BigW but all gone, nothing available, I am looking for an Ipad Air now.

          THanks,

apple is excluded…. wanna buy an ipad during end of financial year sale…

  • Their Xbox prices are abit of a rip off

    • Not if you get them to price match the competition ;)

It say in one or more transactions
Can one buy $150 vpay twice minus card fee ($5 each)
And cash it all $40 profit?
    Will this work?

    • Yes, but you need 200 and 150

      • can you just get $195 and $145 (with $5x2 fee on top), or are the denominations fixed?

        • +3

          Wont work.

    • +1

How is that relevant to this thread?

      • +3

Not to mention being completely wrong. You have to look long and hard to find housing anywhere in the world that's more expensive than Australia in terms of income multiples.

    • Nope. Affordability wise we are not cheap on the East Coast

    • +2

      Cool, dog.

  • Great.
Now I forgot my AMEX card at home.

    • you mean you haven't memorised your Amex card number by now? (I have!) :P

    • may be check in you net banking account..

  • Thanks for the manual link

  • Nintendo Switch becomes $419 with this deal. Not bad.

  • +1

Not sure that HN actually sells vPay anymore

  • -2

Can someone post the link for Vpay CArd on HN site ?

  • Buy from harvey norman - save money?

warranty and service useless and hostile.

    staff noxious.

How much is the unpleasantness and warranty question worth to you?

Presume this is why everyone talking about cards.

  • Hello,

Can I buy Harvey Norman gift cards and would get the cash back ?..

Edit: got the answer, NO :(

    • +3

Yes. You'd still get the cashback even the t&c says otherwise.

  • anything good above $1,050? Saved to 3 Amex cards.

    • Samsung S8…lol

  • Offer excludes the following products: AEG, Apple, Asko, De Dietrich, Elica, Fagor, Falcon, Gaggenau, Miele, Neff & St George.
(Cashback may still work according to some users)

Can anybody confirm they got a cashback on Apple products ?

    • +3

You must be new here, you get the cashback on eveything you buy at HN.

    • Don't know why you were negged but good to know the exclusions. Also, I tend to just buy Gift Cards which bypasses this issue and Amex does not know what I purchased.

The same could be said of going with AEG for example but I know that purchases with AEG (for example) are direct to them and so there may be a way for AmEx to tell.

      Dunno.

I suspect it is because there are no real margins for HN as they cannot control the price and so they are trying to discourage people from making big expenditures on items they have low margins on.

  • I guess for those that arent looking to buy antyhing at HN at all or in the near future, this deal isnt as good as last years one, since you cant buy gift cards…

oh well, its a pity :(

    • what makes you think you cant buy gift cards?

      • Tried last time at broadway, they refused to sell if I pay by Amex under manager's orders

        • Just go to another HN. The experiences tend to differ. EG. Last time the deal was on (Spend $300 get $100 back), HN Geelong-Corio had no issues for me while HN-Nunawading had signs saying you will not get credit from Amex.

        • @danielh: yeah I'm boycotting them anyway because the service over there was really poor. Might give Bondi HN a shot

  • +2

Please report back if you had any luck finding vpay!

  • A new type of question!! This may have been discussed for prior AMEX offers, but one of my cards had this offer attached, the other 2 did not, and so I had to use the manual link X 2. Why?

  • will buying a gift cards from Harvey norman online work fine

    • +7

No, order will be declined with no logical reason, funds kept for a while, however using visa or MasterCard is ok :)

  • Someone from another forum had already tried - no Amex for any kind of gift cards. I wonder if they will allow split payments as well as some store i.e. Broadway didn't allow it.

    • -3

VISA and mastercard ok?? isnt that racist against amex? should we call amex and report them?

    • Can you please post the link to that forum.

      • It's a non-English forum so don't think that's much use to most people. Most people who spoke that language are already on that forum as well.

  • I am looking to get the Bose QC35's, from the last offer it got them down to $327 with the $100 off offer.

Cheapest i've seen the Bose Qc35's is $409-$419 online Australian sites, making them about $360-370, and having been this price with 20% on eBay this isn't much of a deal for me. Budget is about $300, and don't want to settle on the QC25'S.

    Ideas?

    • Ditto, but the only option you have is to wait for them to go on sale elsewhere and then pricematch. That, or go into a store and see how your negotiating skills are!

      • May be waiting for any special under $400 then, hmm

      • So found the qc35's on ebay with 20% off bringing them to $399 from myer, i talked to live chat harvey norman, guy wasn't having my shit…and flat out refused to match any ebay prices. Might have more luck tomorrow, or by calling.

        • +1

          Same, lol.

        • -1

Most on OzB would know no shop will match eBay prices.

  • Is there a way to get email notifications about these offers somehow? Only time I ever see them is on ozB.

    • +1

Keep checking ozbargain every day, every half day every 1hr every minute.

      • Is VPay different from Visa gift cards? I bought some normal Visa gift cards this morning, but I didn't receive the congratulation email from Amex. I wonder if I choose the wrong gift card. For previous deals I would receive the email immediately.

        • Vpay is virtual visa card. Yours is physical ones?
Which location did you buy from?

        • @lilkid28: Adelaide City Cross… no issues. Main concern is that I didn't get the notification unlike previous deals.

        • @lilkid28: yes physical… On the receipt it says Epay!

        • @superready: Did they use the normal HN eftpos machine or epay machine for payment?

        • @Turd: On the surface, it was the same machine they used for everyone although I don't know in depth. The invoice says HN superstore City Cross, which is the name of the store. Nothing unusual maybe except for the activation slip lists EPEPY017…. as the Store ID. Also transaction ID starts with EPEMR… so everything has an "E" as prefix. I'm stuffed!

        • @superready: ok wait 5 days and see if u get credits

        • @Turd: No news yet after a week!

        • @superready:
I did purchase same thing from same store and contact amex chat today.they didn't honor credit this time any says this purchase was toward giftcard.

        • @talktoronak: Greedy HN. They don't like the $6 they get from every gc purchase. Good thing I got about $7.5 worth of qff points from my Amex Black for every $500 card. I probably should try their Vpay cards as other people reported they got credit for purchasing vpay.

        • @superready: p.s. I purchased the same card the last time that was $100 credit for $300 purchase and got the confirmation email and the credit. They must have changed something in their system.

        • @superready: I have not got the notification either, same store and same Visa pre paid card $300+$72 spotify

        • @superready: I am considering calling up AMEX, same store, same issue here. Have you called them yet?

        • @banzini: No, probably won't work as talktoronak tried it already. Food you purchase the vpay or the physical cards? Because for the physical visa cards you could go to up to $500 denomination.

I bet this store has sold hundreds of gift cards because of this deal but they're so mean that they have interfered in what used to work every time (gc still works in other states).

        • @superready: Yeah, they probably knew what I was doing as well when selling them to me but they thought "we have the upper hand here!"
I got $4.20 from the points in velocity anyway so it almost covers the gift card fee

        • +1

@banzini: go to HN gepps cross buy the vPay ones (300 max). I just did and got the Amex email immediately.

        • +1

@talktoronak: see my comment below. Of you buy the vPay ones (not physical cards) from Gepps Cross it works. Just did mine and got Amec email.

        • @superready:
Thanks for that info. I just send email today and they agree to give $50 cash back.I haven't received in account yet.Previously I use online chat.
My mate also buy same physical card from Marion and received email and cashback with no issue.
          Cheers.

        • @talktoronak: What email did you use? I can't locate email contact on the 'contact us' page. Do you have any helpful hints you used in your email to get the $50 credit actioned? Thanks!

        • @talktoronak: Never mind, I have found the contact centre in the account page, sent a message and they have replied and added the $50 credit to my account as 'goodwill' as HN used a different merchant to process transaction (obviously epay or something similar).
          Nice work AMEX though!

        sweet idea (durrrrpp)

  • S8 for $1050 if you have 3 cards, or S8+ for $1200 if you spend an extra $50 and use 4 cards.

  • -1

Bought $200 and $150 VPay on two cards and got the confirmation email from AMEX within 5 minutes each.

    • May I know the location please?

      • -7

Confirmation will come no matter what you spend it on, as long as you spend over $350 during the promo period it will work.

As for vpay just go into your local store and ask, if they dont or wont sell it go to the next nearest one.

There is no such thing as a free or free spoon feeding brunch.

        • You seems to be in a wrong place, we are all here to share the information with each other and benefit. The question was asked as Vpay is not being allowed on AMEX at all the locations.

        • -4

          | The question was asked as Vpay is not being allowed on AMEX at all the locations.

Are you 100% absolutely sure on this?

Because Im 100% sure it is incorrect, each store francies does things differently, that's why you should go in to your store and check it out. Someone has done the hardwork of traveling around places you want to copy? LIke cheating at an exam, get the smart kid to copy off.?

    • May I know which location?

  • Anyone know if HN will price match jb hi-fi? I wanna buy a MacBook Pro using 8 amexes and this deal but jb have 10% off now.

    • +1

Nothing say they won't but of course it's up to the individual franchisee/store's discretion.

  • There are visa prepaid card and vpay — which one I should choose? I don't know much about vpay

    • What is the fees like for both? If I remember correctly, prepaid visa (physical card) has higher fee $5.95 compared to $5.5 of Vpay.

      • Depend on which amount you want though. Visa prepaid can go max $500, Vpay only $300. I have 4 Amex, so easier (and less fee) for me to buy 3 x $500 Visa prepaid and split the payment across 4 cards (well, for each card, I paid $350 with 1 card, and top the rest with the 4th one).
