Which harvey norman store did you go to? Nunawading does not allow for split payments.

  • I just found out Harvey Norman is doing electricity and gas service already. Think I can prepay my gas/electricity bills and still get the credit?

    • HN Energy powered by Alinta. I have a feeling amex will be able to make the distinction.
And you can't pay your bill in store either.

      • Oh okay thanks for the info!

Sweet, HR price matched Big W for the Switch. Got it for $399 after credit.

  • Anyone managed to get Visa Prepaid card and what is the available denomination ?

    • Yes, I was told $300 or $500. From memory $200 also available. See my post below

  • Get on the visa prepaid mygift2u card
can load $300 or $500 on them (not $350 sad days).
Then top up with a netflix or itunes card to get to $350 spend.

Which store of Harvey Norman still doing Visa Prepaid? Is Visa prepaid the same as vpay?

      • Why so many downvotes?

    • ** You made need to contact AMEX after making the purchase as a couple haven't received the emails since buying the visa MyGift2U

      • Hmmm wonder if that's why mine haven't triggered. How responsive are Amex?

        • replied within 2 hours

        • @banzini:
I meant more along the lines of, what did they do about it? Were they happy to credit? How many cards?

        • @jasonb: They gave me $50 credit and accepted that HN processed my payment under a different merchant. "the merchant with which the transaction has been made is not one of the listed merchants under this offer", HN use epay or something else maybe? Anyway they said here's a $50 goodwill credit etc etc. I am a new customer w/AMEX, this may have helped.

        • @banzini:
Odd. Mine definitely went through their normal POS system, same store worked for last year's offer but the merchant name was ever so slightly different this time around so maybe new terminal setup that hasn't reflected for these offers or something. I'll message and see how I go! Thanks.

        • @jasonb: Bang on about being a new customer if you are, or near end of your annual fee cycle, act is if you're shopping around. I also notices in Adelaide City cross a different name on the transaction than just the usual 'Harvey Norman'.

        • @banzini: did you tell Amex that you bought the gift card or did you say you bought xyz merchandise from Hardly Normal?
          Cheers!

has anyone actually gotten their $50 credit after purchasing a gift card during this promo?

    • Yes multiple times.

      • Is Vpay card a physical card or voucher type? I went to HN Nunawarding yesterday, I was told that Vpay card they were selling was voucher type with visa card details on it. It can be used online payment but not in store. Also, I was told that I can not get $50 AMEX statement promotion offer if I use AMEX card to purchase. Anyone can share your experience? Many thanks.

        • +1

It's a paper voucher that usually comes stapled to a "how to use" card. You need to activate it online first. NOTE: you need a unique email address to activate each vPay !

You can supposedly only use it to purchase online (I suspect if someone were prepared to manually put the details into an EFTPOS machine in-store it would also work, but never tried).

They will insist you will not get the $50 rebate using AMEX and some will even prevent you from buying vPay with an AMEX. However, the half-dozen I've bought with previous similar promotions all resulted in a rebate email immediately and credit to the card within a few days.

        • @drsmithy: Thanks for your detailed info. I will give it a try at that store.

  • I wanted to buy a DW and asked HN (Thomastown, VIC) if i can do split payments as my DW is gonna cost me over 700. They said it should not be a problem.
I havent bought it yet, will update once I am successful.

    • DW?

      • +1

        dishwasher

        • +1

Lol are they normally referred to as DW? Never heard that before!

        • +3

          @illumination: I just invented it …LOL

    • You won't have a problem with split payments. I split my fridge over 7 cards last time, and my Nintendo Switch over 2 cards this time.

      • I only have one card and hopefully that will work :-)

        • No, it won't. The offer is only available once per registered card. See if your bank will give you free supplementary cards so you can use these offers multiple times in future. Cards issued directly by Amex can have up to 4.

        • @puffinfresh: oh ok..does that mean, if i get a supplementary card now, this offer will work on it too? or everytime we need to enroll both cards to make it work, even if its a supplementary card?

        • @bkoolrocks: You need to enroll each card individually

        • +1

@bkoolrocks: I have applied for the commbank low rate card with 250 cashback now. Will do the $500 with this card and do another 350 with amex :-)

  • Anyone still waiting for their $50 credit? It's been more than a month after the transaction and still nothing.

    • Did you get an email after the transaction?

      • Nope - but I was expecting one just like all the other card offers.

        • There you go, it's most likely not triggered by the transaction so no credit will apply.

    • Bought a washing machine at HN over the weekend, split across three cards. Emails received within minutes. Haven't received the actual credits yet, but experience suggests any time the email comes through, the credit is only a day or two behind.

    • what did you buy ? Gift card ?
      did you receive a confirmation e-mail ?

      • I bought vpay last thursday, $50 credit showing up today.

        • Can I ask which store ?

        • @spk: NSW ( moorepark, campbelltown, liverpool ) they all have it.

        • @bbqwer:

It's not so much about whether they have them as whether they'll sell them to you if you're paying with an AMEX.

        • @drsmithy: No issue at all. in the past 7days, I have bought 12 vpay

        • how much you bought each vpay on one amex? coz I need to pay $255.50+$105.50=$361 to get $50 rebate.

        • -1

          @bbqwer: thanks mate

Bought $2100 of vpay (6x$300, 2x$150) using 6 cards from HN Campbelltown and Liverpool.

Paid $150 using 3 different cards at each store. No issues and received email from Amex

    • Go to your Amex account and then 'offers' and then 'my offers' and it should show that you have that as an offer that you have registered for/used. Also can look at account online and see the credit under your transactions. If neither, then contact AMex. Their customer service is brilliant!

      • Great thanks for that. I ended up giving customer service a call. Even though the original transaction didn't trigger the offer, they applied the credit in my account anyway. That means the offer is still valid for use :)

  • Anyone tried giftcards online?

  • did anyone try to purchase HN giftcards on their website and have success getting the cashback?

    • Did it in the past and worked
Only challenge being HN have cancelled the gift card transactions paid with an Amex

  • just brought online some e cards via amex express check out to meet the short fall. just hope ill get the $50? any one else do the same and got it?

    • AMEX confirmation usually arrives within minutes after i redeem an offer. Did you get an email from them?

      • no got hn security email saying its under review and will probably be processed tomorrow. might have to case up amex to get the $50 as anz always process it 1 day late too. crap might have to find something else to buy online for $180 any suggestions?
