Amazing price! $51.30 with Officeworks price match :)

    • I called Officeworks this morning and the guy on the phone said that the item is not in stock at any of The Good Guys Store in Victoria and therefore they will add the delivery fee before they price match with it. The guy wasn't very helpful.

    • Pitt Street Officeworks Sydney is out of stock

    Nice find earth ;)

Saw that too when I was reading the catalogue tonight and will go to OW to do a price match tomorrow.

Or keep an eye on TGG eBay listing, once they reduce price, apply C5OZZIE to get 5% off

Prices updated this morning! Got one! Not sure why I buy it but i guess it’s ozb spirit, buy first think later !

      • Oh damn! I should have checked their eBay before I bought it on their site early this morning. :(

PS: Availability is showing as 'Back Ordered' on my account so is there a way to cancel the order online and get it from their eBay? Or I have to call them to cancel it? It isn't worth calling them for $2.70 if one can't cancel it online.

    • Thanks for the heads up! The code is P5OZZIE btw.

    • Thanks :)

      • Thanks to Cam, code should be P5OZZIE, I just bought 1, you may have used the code 3 times already I assume?

        • I was putting in the wrong code

    • I called Officeworks this morning and the guy on the phone said that the item is not in stock at any of The Good Guys Store in Victoria and therefore they will add the delivery fee before they price match with it. The guy wasn't very helpful.

      • He told you a sale fib. TGG in Sydenham, Melb, had 1 left when I bought mine at 11.38am. Priced beat with OW around the corner. None is stock @ OW Taylors Lakes.

  • +2

Doh. Not long ago, paid $10 more on this deal.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/339245

    • Exactly the same boat.

Do we get another one to split the savings? Haha

      • +1

Same here! Dammit, I think I paid about 60 something dollar with the 20% off from ebay.
I might grab another one for mum to use.

        • This is why you buy tech stuff like this with a credit card that has price protection insurance (e.g. 28 Degrees, Coles Mastercard…)

        • @endotherm: how does that work? Do you have to specifically email them or talk to customer service every time you want to price protect? Or is there a quick and easy button that you can fill out and they do the checking all for you.

    • Does anyone know if its possible to get a refund at JB? I bought one online two days ago :(

    • doesn't TGG have a 30 day price guarantee?

      • I just got a reply from TGG:

"Please note terms and conditions of our price guarantee below. The cheaper price needs to come from a competitor."

the link Lists approved competitors and of course TGG isnt on it as they are not a competitor. does that seem correct? if they reduce their prices, the price guarantee doesn't apply?

    • Yeah, but on that earlier deal you could redeem 6 months worth of Google's premium Ad-Free Youtube and Google Music streaming services! That was a big plus at the time for some - but time limited, and the offer has ended. Does this new deal offer that 6 months free subscription?

    • I bought 2 earlier for $72 each when they were first launched and Ebay had 10% off, to be given as Xmas gifts :( Lost almost $40 !.. Today I bought one for myself at this price and I already have one Google Home.

  • Nice one theearth. Not sure if I need a 3rd Google Home though… But I'll probably change my mind on that :)

    • Probably worth waiting and seeing.

Amazon will probably launch with deals on their Echo Dot - so particularly for Christmas presents, it's worth seeing how low the deals go.

      • Can always run them next to each other.

      • Actually looks like it's not worth waiting and seeing - Amazon can't even manage to get the Echo launched before Christmas …

Good prices! And I thought mine at $60 was a good deal….

  • +5

Google home mini was $29 in the us ($38AUD) for cyber monday - here the price was $79…. Ok now down to $54.. but still… Not much googly love. >:-|

    • +5

Actually, if you looked around over the "Black Friday" weekend you could get it as cheap as US$19, if you picked the right store and day…
Luckily I had a generous luggage allowance ;-)

Down with the Australia Tax I say !!!

      • I dont think Australian tax is adding an extra 40% to the price!

        • +2

Well whatever is doubling the price, it needs to stop…

        • +1

Australia Tax (as opposed to Australian taxes) is the extra we pay for products because "Australia".

There was a bit of a thing about it a couple of years ago including some justifications from companies such as the extra cost of getting products here…on products we pay the entire shipping cost for at checkout or are 100% digital deliveries. From memory, so don't sue me, Adobe and Steam were two big offenders.

        • @oz-dave: lets blame the extended Australian consumer warranty, someone’s paying for that…

        • @muncan: Other countries have generous consumer protection legislation as well.

    • +1

Price is still $29 USD, will be for the rest of the year in the US, the sales just gave a bonus $10 gift card. I think the the price has been dropped because the touch functionality had to be disabled. Not sure why Australia didn't get an official discount.

      https://store.google.com/us/product/google_home_mini

      • +1

What is Google's shipping cost for something like this item to Australia? Never bought anything from Google so I am not sure if their costs are astronomical or not.

        • I don't think a shipping container and a bit of insurance adds 40% extra to the cost.

        • @luciferaust: Unfortunately, I've just realized that price is for US resident only. Check at the bottom of the page:

Limited time offer. US residents only.

      • +1

If it's a semi-permanent $29, that makes the price they are trying to charge us here in Australia even worse…

      • What's wrong with the touch functionality?

    • Australian prices include gst. US prices dont - most states have ~ 10% sales tax on top of advertised price.

raises the question how much will the google home drop …… better speaker so has more appeal ….. google need these devices so that people use them and they can refine their ai and deep learning algorithms so it’s in googles interest to drive down prices and get more being used rather than try and make a profit from them.

    • +1

i actually have no issue with the Google Home Mini speaker. Physical size is more appealing to me than the speaker. for background music, the Google Home Mini actually does a ripper job. Before i got one of these, i was dead set on getting the google home, but now I'm very unlikely. If i want good sounding music, i have a bluetooth Bose speaker for that.

    • +1

      google need these devices…

I'm with you on this one, they have good market penetration with Android, this is another brick in their pavement and much needed to compete with products like Alexa. I suspect this is more about data mining and voice recognition and Google's future plans than just another device to sell to make money.
I suspect after a while the prices will stay low, they want proliferation over profit with this one.

    • But you can just get 4 minis for the price of one home at this rate

      • If you pay RRP for the home, this is Ozb however….

Lowest for the home I have seen recently is ~$120

Is the NSA cutting down on their workforce . They no longer need secret service agents to spy on people . Fully automated spy bot for $54 or pay a human $50k a year

    😂😂😂

  • Has anyone ever sibmitted a 30 Day Price Guarantee from The Good Guys online? I purchased earlier this month.

    • I've fired off a price guarantee inquiry with them via my earlier November eBay order. I guess that's the way to go. Waiting for a response. 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

      • -3

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - the 30 Day Price Guarantee excludes eBay unfortunately, and also only applies to local competitors' prices (unless you purchase Concierge, in which case it also applies to TGGs own prices as well).

        • T&Cs?

        • @YellowKnight: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/beat-it

In the 'After you buy' section it goes through the T&Cs. I don't agree with it, but that's the policy they use when someone submits a claim.

        • Thanks for the info slowey..

        • @slowey: The policy designed to save money. T&Cs , I dont understand why GG dont have a free run like Officeworks, how much does Price Guarantee cost anyway - Just charge it back to the distributors or manufacturers as OW do. Your bigger concern is the rent that the store has to pay which eats away 40% profit, rent pay out is even higher than employee cost.

  • No Charcoal on their eBay site

    • Yeah that may be the price guarantee catch. Mine is charcoal.

  • Been wanting a Mini for a while but been waiting for a decent price.

  • your;ll find the cheap price is to get into home before amazon echo release. Then price will probably go back up

  • I just recently bought a 4K Sony Android TV in the recent Bing Lee 20% off eBay sale. Up until now I had always been running my PC / laptops into the TV. I have been considering ditching the PC for Chromecast for a while now, the TV was rather spontaneous.

I'm rather impressed with Android TV and can see it potentially replacing my need for the PC, does Chromecast provide any significant benefit over Android TV?

    • Nope, your Android TV has chromecast built in.

I love my Sony Android TV.

    • The sony android TV is still better as it does native 4K for Netflix etc. Also runs Kodi.

Only issue is google cast doesnt support Netflix, but you can do youtube and stan without any issues

      • Thanks guys, sounds good. Still figuring everything out everything I can do with this.

I didn't even consider that I could cast or mirror to this as my last Sony TV wasn't compatible with the Nexus 6P for mirroring.

        • The kids love saying "OK Google Play Funny Cat Videos on Living Room TV"

    • impressed with Android TV and can see it potentially replacing my need for the PC

      Erm … OK.

      • It runs Kodi and netflix, which most media PCs cant do Netflix unforunately.

I have done the same, stopped using the NUC media PC in lounge in favour for running pure Android TV off the Sony with no issues at all.

Just price matched at JB and used a $50 JB Hi Fi gift card I got at 9% off with the purchase.

Just got Harvey Norman to price match via their online chat. I had $50 left on a gift voucher I was given so wanted to make use of that.

    • I assume you then were able to purchase on Harvey Norman online for pick-up in store?

      • +1

Yes - they provide a link with a discount code added and you can checkout online and pickup in store.

    • +1

I just printed out the page from the Good Guys, walked into Harvey Norman, and they price matched without an issue. There were dozens of the things on display. I also used a $50 credit I got ages ago when I bought a Google Home from them, so it cost me $4 :-)

I now have a two normal 'homes' and two 'minis'. We have a large house and have started to use them to broadcast things like "dinner's ready, evil demon spawn" to get the kids out from wherever they're hiding. Basically, it's a one-way intercom…. as well as music etc.

So officeworks have price dropped so trying to get a 30 day guarantee with Good guys, but docket number isn't working. Anyone had any luck?

  • Just ordered two from Officeworks (wanted to Afterpay it) but they class my postcode as regional for some reason. After a tedious live chat, i found a section on their website that says "How much is delivery?
Delivery is free when you spend $55 or more and have it delivered to a metro or regional areas. "

This is the page - https://www.officeworks.com.au/contact-us under Contact Us -> Delivery -> How much is delivery?

  • JB price matched for me! Edit: the google Home mini

  • JB price matched for the Google Home Mini. Paid with a $50 Ultimate Kids Gift Card purchased this week from Coles. A mini for $41.50. Christmas present for my son sorted. Thank you OP!! ❤

    • Same here but effectively cost me $44. How did you end up with $41.50?

  • Awesome - bought a few for Xmas presents

  • was anyone able to find stock for the blitz2go blender? seems to be no stock in my area and harvey norman won't price match without stock :(

  • Ffs i bought google home mini from TGG just earlier this month for 63. I can't simply return it can I? :(

Picked mine up a few hours ago. It's bloody brilliant :)

Very happy with it. Still learning it's intricacies - but my toddler is having fun asking it to play all sorts of animal noises.

The charger wall wart though.. terrible. Basically takes up two spots. Luckily have plenty of them lying around

  • P5OZZIE discount code doesn't work for me?

  • Google home mini will be for $48.60 for tonight only according to this deal, with 10% off storewide for in-store purchases

    • Yep, picked up two for that price last night

  • Can anyone tell me how long in store pickups take to process usually? I ordered on Monday but still haven't received a message to say it's ready.

    • Nvm, just came through.
