Hortico has AS 3743 black ticks, this one don't.

    • And?

      • It means the potting mix passes the black ticks certification, which must conform to Australian Standards 3743 regarding to their content and quality. Here is a article on this subject

        Best potting mixes report

        • The Australian Standards system is voluntary and in this instant at least self regulated. There are three Australian standards for potting mix.All the ticks means is as follows.. Red ticks means it has a controlled-release fertiliser added… Black ticks have no controlled-release fertiliser added…And no ticks means not submitted for testing…So really Australian standard AS 3743 black tick means absolutely nothing…There is not one mix on the Australian market that i would use without some form of modification and most cheaper mixes are just as suitable for modification as the dearer ones.

        • My experience with richgro potting mix and richgro compost backs this up, it's not very good. Avoid and spend your money on something better quality that actually works well without additional treatment.

  • If this is the shit I'm thinking of, it's $2 too much. NOTHING wants to grow in it.

Missus tried to raise some seedlings in it, they eventually showed some signs of growth but then just stalled in development and just sit there.

I transplanted some seedlings grown elsewhere into bigger pots using this and they just completely stopped any further growth, no observable changes over the past 2 months.

I suspect the added "water saving bullshit" is mostly to blame, it seems to set up like a really thick jelly.
