Deals for firearms and accessories are now banned

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:banned_items

    • +16

      The left wins again.

      • +11

        lol…

First time I've been accused of being to the left…

        • +8

          You weren't.

      • +11

Let's not pretend it's just the left who are opposed to guns in this country.

        • +13

Anyone left of the major political parties is "a lefty" because they're left of the general Australian consensus, which at the moment is pretty far to the right on the political spectrum due to marketing by large corporations convincing the lower IQ members of our society that trickle down economics and big business tax cuts are good for everyone.

Meanwhile globally we have 5 individuals that have as much wealth as 3.5 billion individuals, but you're a lefty mate ha ha ha look at you.

Stand for what you believe in or society will push past its current late-stage capitalism into anarchy. The wealthy want division among the masses and right now they're getting it.

        • @Putnum: well said

        • @Putnum:

society will push past its current late-stage capitalism into anarchy

Nice, except you speak of anarchy as if it's something worse than what we now have. I expect most people understand anarchism only in terms of how the Sex Pistols (mis)represented it. People should research it before forming opinions.

        • -2

@thevofa: I'm one that believes an ordered society needs those to obey and those to command. I wouldn't want to live in a lawless land.

        • +2

@Putnum: Order and having laws does not require "those to obey and those to command" - authority and law are not the same. This is my point - anarchy is most commonly misrepresented as lawlessness or disorder when it need be no such thing.

      • How's gun control left lol? Move to the US then because it's working out so well over there.

    • +7

      I don't see Accessories there.

          Read this link…

        • @jv: you are bold jv!

      • timlaher - have you been researching this sight? Is it one that you were looking for? Just trying to get the possible benefit of your research and time already spent. Is this for a pig setup?

        • i've had a quick look (I'm keen myself) and this one actually looks good: VORTEX
SPARC AR @$335 (cleaver). It gets good reviews, better than bushnel in comparison reviews and uses 1 x aaa battery. Battery life is a poor for it but you can use rechargable.

    • Great! But no one has removed it yet

  • oh ignorance rules :( Tis a sad day for non control freaks

  • +58

Great price, essentially a TRS25. Not sure why people are getting so worked up over these types of deals, if it's not for you just keep scrolling.

    • +7

      The ecstasy of sanctimony..

    • +7

I just came to see people getting… fired up… in the comments

      • good for you :) That's something positive

    • Both "sides" were throwing temper tantrums including yourself. In fact, 7 reports for your comments in total so thanks for your contribution today.

      • Judging from the team's decision, we now know which side chucked the bigger tantrum. 7 reports, was expecting more tbh.

  • Any see through vision scopes?

    • Firearms posts are not permitted. This is not a firearm (gun, ammunition).

      • +68

Silencers? Magazine Extenders? Ammo Press? Rifle Stand?

This is an accessory for a firearm. Either allow all firearm related items or ban all firearm related items. I don’t care which THB, just be consistent.

        • +22

I'm a Nerfer so these kinds of accessories are of interest to me. Will go very well on my foam dart blasters.

        • -1

@44sunsets: toys r us would have a range of items for your needs, check them out - under administration so probably some good deals going

        • +11

          Yup this is exactly right.

I'm all for bargains that can be used without guns, but this product, and the products you mentioned literally can only be used with a gun.

You couldn't apply this "rule" to all the other banned products on Ozbargain.

        • +6

          Are bump stocks permitted?

        • +16

This is an accessory for a firearm. Either allow all firearm related items or ban all firearm related items. I don’t care which THB, just be consistent

Seems like you do care just a little bit…

          Firearms deal should be removed.

If you take the time to read Neil's comments you'll understand that firearms deals have been banned not because of the product but because we can't play nicely together.

As far as I understand this is a privately owned site and the people running it have made a decision on their site.

Please respect their decision and stop with your demands of how the site should be run.

I shoot and am disappointed to see the recent ban but it's not my call to make. Reading the amount of childish drivel that came from both sides I can appreciate why they made the call.

        • +14

firearms deals have been banned not because of the product but because we can't play nicely together.

@OzBragain: To me that is plain wrong, teaches people that all they have to do is jump up and down and bicker, and they can get certain items removed from ozbargain. I've got a novel idea, give members a warning, then a short ban followed by a longer one. Bickering and nasty comments stop. Those interested in the deals will post and either vote + or neg according to the rules. Those that aren't interested will move on to the next post and the earth will still revolve.

        • +3

          @samfisher5986: i concur with you

        • +3

          @heal: AMEN to that!!!
I dont shoot, never been a fan nor could understand how anyone could call actually class it as hunting … however i also believe in each to their own. One thing i can never appreciate though is placing restrictions on everyone because of the select precious few who cant possibly entertain anyone living a life that is different to theirs!!!

        • -2

          @heal:

Wasn't my opinion, just trying to reiterate Neil's explanation to members who think they can make demands of the owners of this site.

I agree with your what you're saying and am personally sick and tired of society pandering to vocal minorities but that's probably a conversation for another time. Maybe when things have calmed down a little you could try putting it to the mods, maybe start a forum post/poll and see how it goes.

I like this site, some members are unreasonable just like in society. Owners and mods make the rules but some members don't seem to get that.

        • +1

@OzBragain: "I agree with your what you're saying and am personally sick and tired of society pandering to vocal minorities"

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/322997

Statistics 101. people here want gun posts banned. That's not a 'vocal minority'.

        • @daleyboy79: Awesome and as it should be :)

        • @Geryatric:

Thanks — already checked, Toys R Us is still expensive as always, so no sign of major discounts yet.
(dunno why you got downvoted for trying to be helpful)

        • +2

          @OzBeergain:

My comment was a general one regarding our broader society today but since you'd like to twist it into something specifically about firearms posts on OzBargain let's see what we can do.

Statistics 101. people here want gun posts banned. That's not a 'vocal minority'.

          I think it'll be a while before you'll be considered a statistician.

Just because you really really really want to be right does not make it so.

Total number of users: 205774 (22122 logged in last 24 hours, 38281 last 30 days)

There was a poll here as to whether firearms posts should be allowed on OzB

1494 members voted on that poll. Let's pretend for now that they all voted to ban firearms deals. That would be 0.72% of total members or 6.75% of members who logged in in the last 24 hours who want firearms deals banned. Unfortunately for your argument the reality is that they didn't all vote to ban firearms deals.

At best you're talking about less that 7% of members, at worst you're looking at less than 1% of members who even care enough about the subject to vote let alone want the posts banned.

I've read up on Statistics 101 and what I've leaned is that these statistics mean most members here just don't care and will get on with lives. What has happened is a vocal minority (from both sides of the argument) have carried on like a bunch of turkeys and p!ssed the mods sufficiently for them to ban firearms posts.

The other thing I learned about statistics is that unless you've got a decent sample size the numbers are useless.

So yes we're talking about a vocal minority making a change once again.

Mods made a decision that was theirs to make. Maybe it can be discussed again once everyone's calmed down.

How about you have another beer and chill out.

        • @OzBragain:

          I think it'll be a while before you'll be considered a statistician.

Put your hand up if you did years of statistics at University level and have a job in Statistics. Yeah I thought not OzBragain. Maybe when you can read simply statistics let me know.

Just because you really really really want to be right does not make it so.

Gun posts are banned. Maybe you didn't get the memo.

You don't know what the other non voting members feel in regards to this topic. The sample set is more than sufficient to gauge the entire community. Again, statistics 101 fail. PM me, I have some really good basic course info.

At best you're talking about less that 7% of members, at worst you're looking at less than 1% of members who even care enough about the subject to vote let alone want the posts banned.

You don't speak for those who haven't voted.

What has happened is a vocal minority (from both sides of the argument) have carried on like a bunch of turkeys and p!ssed the mods sufficiently for them to ban firearms posts.

Finally something correct. However the poll shows what members want, or don't want as is the case with gun posts.

The other thing I learned about statistics is that unless you've got a decent sample size the numbers are useless.

ROFL. Statistics 101 fail. My goodness me, that comment alone says I shouldn't even be talking to you.

So yes we're talking about a vocal minority making a change once again.

Of those who voted, the majority voted against gun posts. Deal with it.

Mods made a decision that was theirs to make. Maybe it can be discussed again once everyone's calmed down.

If you had paid attention they have said it is final and non reversible.

        • @jelko:

Bump stocks are not legal. A red dot sight is.

        • @OzBeergain:

…My goodness me, that comment alone says I shouldn't even be talking to you.

My goodness me, now we're going somewhere sensible.

Mods have banned firearms deals because of the hissy fits from a vocal minority. 0.72% of members here are interested enough in the subject to vote. If you'd like to discuss further, please take a look at Neil's comment here

        • @OzBragain:

          Mods have banned firearms deals

Great result, and all that matters. The rest of your sentence isn't worth the time to read it.

    • +1

Wow, do you even go outside?

      • -2

I don't think it's too kind of people to hang shit on someone due to an honest comment.

Everyone is entitled to comment and shouldn't receive criticism for doing so. Are we really that bored?

    • +1

Does it hurt when your eye glances over them?

  • +6

why is this store the one which keeps appearing on ozbargain? surely there's other stores with gun-related deals.

    • +11

Cleavers are one of the biggest gun stores and generally pretty cheap. Good customer service in my limited experience.

    • +4

They have a great range and great prices - kind of like chainreaction if you're into bikes

    • +1

They're a huge player in the market in Australia, the buy in massive quantities which allows them to sell items at a significant discount compared to other retailers. Not to mention buying things like this red dot from overseas is a huge PITA so we're pretty much forced to shop locally.

  • +8

    Firearms deal should be removed.

Also - No deal listed, what was the original selling price? What is the saving?

    • +10

Guns & Ammunition are not permitted. Scopes, cases and other accessories PERMITTED.

    • This isn't a firearms deal.
      Just reported your neg vote.

    • I said the dame thing and had my down vote removed, why!

  • +6

This doesn't appear to be discounted, or a "bargain" in any sense.

    • +12

      Selling for $155 here -https://www.huntinghaven.com.au/p/bushnell-ak-optics-red-dot-1x25-3-moa/BUAK731303

      Selling for $169 here - https://shootersdelight.com.au/product/bushnell-ak-optics-re…

Not a bad deal if you're looking for something like this.

      • -2

It would be cheaper at Amazon but they won't ship it to Australia.

        • +15

Ergo, valid deal if you're looking for something like this in Australia.

        • +1

          @dawack:

I'm just pointing out the markup.

        • +1

@samfisher5986: Things cost more in australia? What a blinding revelation and valuable service youre providing

    • +2

Can you please advise where you've found this item cheaper elsewhere?

    • Exactly! Why are peoples down votes being removed for saying this?

  • Apparently people are missing this commment so will repeat at the bottom:

Anything not related to this deal, aka firearms discussion will be removed. Please discuss there not here.

  • +7

Based on OP's bargain post history, in my opinion this "bargain" is inappropriate.

    • +11

No need to bring the OP into this, they're not a rep or associated with the store. If you want to neg the deal, then feel free to do so with a valid reason.

      • +8

I didn't know a valid reason on ozb being able to neg because I don't like a particular sport product.

I don't like all the Xiaomi products I keep seeing on here, does that mean I can start negging all those posts?

Why aren't all the neggers here having their -votes revoked?

    • +5

Isn't your username a stealthy, gun toting assassin?

    • +1

      Reported invalid neg vote.

    • One mans bargain is another mans waste. You need to add some scope to the situation.

  • +1

Can this be mounted on Nerf guns?

    • -6

Is a nerf like a muppet? Can you mount a muppet? Are nerf girls sexy (and are they game)? So many questions…

    • Yeah if you screw a rail onto literally anything you can use this.

Nerf guns, supersoakers, Bows, rubber ban flinging devices, paintball gats. You can mount it to your car or a piece of wood if you wanted to.
Be good for some cosplay stuff maybe although its expensive to use as a prop.

  • +17

-ve votes as per the voting rules

I have major issues with this retailer…

    • +2

I think you actually have to outline the issue?

      • -2

Check the link he posted, its pretty straight forward.

        • +6

store seems to have a good reputation on ozbargain??

        • -1

          @Savas:

Thats a nice opinion you have.

        • +8

@samfisher5986: you still haven't identified the issue??

        • +7

          @Savas:

          retailer's ethics.

        • +3

          @jv:

          Can you elaborate please, jv?

I wish to have all the facts before making a decision on this item. Thank you.

        • +3

          @samfisher5986:

Can you please identify this issue so I can make an informed choice on this purchase? Thanks in advance.

        • @snagseb:

          No thanks.

        • +6

@samfisher5986: Neg doesn't really help then if you can't explain what's wrong with the deal.

        • +5

          @samfisher5986:

Well that's not very helpful. Are you sure you have a valid reason to neg? It appears you simply don't.

        • +5

@snagseb: I think that the "major issue with the retailer" is some moral reason against the type of goods that the retailer sells, however twisted the logic may be that there is something inherently wrong with selling guns to people with a Firearms license. Personally I don't see it, given that if it's within the parameters of our laws (which is already centered around being a Nanny state) then it couldn't be too dangerous.
