    • +3

You have this insane obsession with free home delivery. I reckon you'd rather get a $200 item with free delivery than a $5 item and need to pay $10 delivery.

      It's a little odd.

  • delivery charge of around 20 bucks
u actually pay after u get the glasses

this was previously (got some alst year)

    What does it include?

Your free pair of glasses will include the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses.

Can I order any pair of glasses on the site?

Certain frames are not eligible for the promotion. If you see a "Coupons not applicable" message on a pair of frames, then it is excluded from the promotion.

    Can I order sunglasses?

The free promo is for our glasses selection only. However, if you would like to make a pair of prescription sunglasses, you can add a tint to your lenses and simply pay for the cost of the tinting, which is about $30.

How long does it take to get my glasses?

Most glasses take about 2-5 business days to ship out. However, due to the expected volume with this promotion please allow 10 days for us to get you your order. If you order progressives, Transitions or add a tint to your glasses, it may take additional time.

I put in the code, why is there still an amount showing up?

Your free pair of glasses will include our standard 1.5 index lenses, which accommodates up to a -8.00. However, if your prescription is over a + or -2.00, you may want to upgrade to a thinner, lighter lens. If you choose to upgrade your lenses, or have selected progressives, Transitions or a tint, you will see the cost of the upgrade in your order total.

Are there any other fees or costs?

Shipping and handling costs will be applied to your order. Typically, this will be about $10-15.

Why did my order get canceled?

If your order doesn't fit the Terms and Conditions, such as ordering more than one free pair, we reserve the right to cancel your order. If you have already paid, your order will be refunded in full. Multiple orders placed from the same household will be canceled, even if the destination address is different. Also previous free glasses giveaway recipients are excluded from current giveaway.

What if I don't like my glasses? Can I return or exchange them?

We want you to love your new glasses! If you're not happy with them for any reason, we will allow one exchange for another free pair at an equal or lesser value. We'll even pay for the return shipping and send you a return label. Just give us a call at 1-866-414-2326 to make arrangements. Please be sure to keep your box and all the accessories that came with your order.

How do I know what size of frame to order?

You can try on glasses using our Virtual Mirror to see how they will look on you. Since you can scale your picture to size, you'll get a very good idea of how the frames will fit your face. You can also watch this video to see how to use the measurements on your current frames to find a pair of glasses that will have a similar fit.

Where do I enter in the coupon code?

After you have chosen your frames and selected your shipping method, you'll go to a "Order Review & Payment" page, where you can enter and apply your coupon code. After applying your code, you will see your order total before you choose to check out.

What methods of payment do you take?

We accept Online Banking, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover and PayPal.

What information do I need to place my glasses order online?

You will need a copy of your current eyeglasses prescription (it's different from your contact lens prescription) and your PD measurement. Sometimes your PD will be on your prescription, but if not, watch this instructional video on how to measure it.

Sounds great! How can I share deals with my friends and family?

Nice one … I want to see my Ozbargains better.

  • +3

Have used this same deal before, and another friend who needs glasses. It's a very legit and genuine deal. Only 'catch' is they mail you other specials (which are also real specials) which you can opt out from, you pay for lens upgrades if you want (my friend didn't and is still happy with the 'standard' ones) and they have a tendency to remove all the popular and/or expensive frames from their site stock in the days leading up to the sale so it should really be called free from "selected range".

  • any oakleys or raybans eligible?

    • FAQ'S
      Can I order sunglasses?
The free promo is for our glasses selection only. However, if you would like to make a pair of prescription sunglasses, you can add a tint to your lenses and simply pay for the cost of the tinting, which is about $30.

      • +1

thanks but they make normal glasses as well. If they have some good sunnies though i will pay the extra $30.

    • the answer is no coz they are all "coupon not applicable"

  • +1

We use these guys for our glasses and only have positive things to say.

  • Are you able to get your eyes checked and not get glasses? Will they give you the information you need so you can get glasses elsewhere?

    • +1

Yes, just ask for a copy of your prescription.

      • +2

Thanks going to get my eyes tested tomorrow, perfect timing, would rather pay for postage only instead of a couple of hundred from optometrists :0)

        • +2

As the resident optometrist here, I can happily let you know that the frames you get from these types of places are not the same as what you can get in Australian stores.

I am NOT saying that they are bad quality.

They ARE heaps cheaper than anything available in Australian stores. The down side is that you cannot try the frames on prior, to make sure they fit you properly and/or are comfortable.

PS - there are other measurements we take apart from the prescription and "PD", which if ordered online are just not possible to incorporate.

But don't forget how cheap they are, so the gamble is often worth it. And worst case, you've wasted no more than $20.

(So it's a plus from me!!)

        • +2

I'm glad clearlycontacts are doing well in Australia. I hope they make optometrists realise that they can't rip off the Australian public much longer with glasses.

        • /+ 1 to dkslim

but optometrist are doing their best(with the deals)

          i.e.
          Specsaver: 2 for $159

last year i had work experience at Lenspro and they have your glasses ready on the day, as they make the lenses themselves, really cool

        • buying glasses from Australia is blatant rip off itself,

try asian countries, guaranteed 300-500% cheaper if you know someone there :D

  • hhhmm, I don't need glasses as I have 20-20 eyesight, but I believe glasses will make me look more professional at work.

Can I just get glasses without a prescription with plain glass?

    • yeah of course

    • +3

      yes

just type in your prescription as (right) 0.00 and (left) 0.00
and your PD as 60 and this will be fine for you.

edit - bah - beaten by 15 seconds, issh !!

    • Yes but there is a caveat in that the people you work with/go to school with will think you're a douche if you just turn up to work/uni with glasses.

  • -1

you can get 2 pair of alex perry $199 and claim most of it back from medicare so not a bad deal at all.

  • I have 3 pairs from these guys. They have been excellent.

The dark tint is handy for sunglasses as well.

  • -1

remember this starts at 8AM EDT (new york time) so it is equal to 10PM Brisbane time

    • +2

I'd doubt it. It's an Australian site, and probably refers to AUSTRALIAN EDT. Meaning Melbourne/Sydney daylight savings time.

      • +4

Residents of Australia only. Promotion starts at 8am EST on March 29th, 2011.

        sorry.

  • Anyone know how much is the shipping?? Thanks! x
I really need new glasses because my current glasses snapped :(

    • +1

      this will be about $10-15.

  • Sweet! Will hopefully try and get a pair each week and get at least 2-3 of them.

    • remember

Also previous free glasses giveaway recipients are excluded from current giveaway.

      just make new accounts

      • That's the plan. :)

You have to be careful with it though. To anyone else doing it, make sure you pay for each with a different CC. I will be using Mum and brothers CC/names to order. They're the only company who have ever "caught me out" with the multiple accounts thing.

        • +1

You will need more than just a different credit card.

If multiple orders come from the same IP with the same prescription they will be cancelled.

I would imagine you would need different credit card, address and IP.

        • I order from work. We have over 100 IPs we can circulate between and choose to use. Not an issue. I would have mentioned that but forgot that people have static IPs.

      • What if your delivery address is the same as before?

        • I moved houses a month ago so mine won't be anyway, haha. Best way around that with any company is to get things delivered to work, if your company allows it. When they see it's an office address they will generally accept multiple orders with delivery to the same address.

If you have an order that's not accepted, they're good about it. No notification or anything though, it's simply refunded to your CC.

  • +2

It's a ploy to make more facebook fans.

  • herm. wonder if i can get the free glasses again. already got one last time, n tried to get another one when the deal offered again but clearly contact cancel my payment :( does anyone know how they detect this? cause i already used the diff address and name but i used the same mastercard acc numb. maybe they knw from that?

  • Nearly free can be good, but - having got a pair of this company's glasses a while ago - I've got to point out some of the limitations:

    • local competitors won't fix 'em if they need adjustments

    • the tool supplied, for DIY fixing, doesn't always work

    • it's too costly to ship 'em back to Canada for repairs

I guess it's like any grey import (from brand name electronics to shoes), if it goes wrong, distance can make it cost more than you expected.

    YMMV. :-)

    • Yeah but who cares, most people who get these will get them as a spare pair, I know my fiance did. If you already wear glasses I'm pretty sure most people would already have a pair they have got from a local optometrist.

    • +2

      agreed with IVI.

Like any "bargain" / grey import - It can be terrific value, but only if it works "out of the box". Like any of these purchases, of course you hope they work and work well, and many will, but you have to keep in the back of your mind that it might just turn out to be more trouble than it's worth, and you "might" have wasted your money on it.

SO sure, go for the deal, but it might not be the "bargain" you expected.

Disclaimer - shmahoo = self-employed independent optometrist trying to give an honest, educated opinion on these types of matters

      • yeah agree with that, but for $15 who cares!

    • To get the best of both worlds:
      1) Go to a local store, get your prescription, and find glasses you like.
      2) Measure the glasses (clearlycontacts will tell you where to measure). Write the measurements down.
      3) Go to clearlycontacts and find glasses measurements that match the measurements and lens shape you got.
      4) Smile, knowing you just prevented yourself from getting ripped off by local stores.
      5) If you need your glasses to be adjusted, bring them in to the local store, most will adjust them for free if they think you are interested in buying their rip-off glasses (which of course you won't do).

The message is clear and strong - Australian optometrists need to stop ripping off their customers, or end up losing them.

      • I almost shouldn't post this, because of the flame bait that it is, just make sure you are comparing apples with apples. There is a reason why at our store (I can't speak for other optometrists) we get quite a few chain store and internet bought pairs of specs coming in that "aren't quite right".

Now, likely there are plenty of others whose specs from internet etc stores ARE just fine. Just letting you know.

        Now, start flaming away!

    • You don't need to ship them to canada. If there's something wrong with the glasses (ie not your fault) they send you a return slip and you can drop it off at an Auspost at NO cost to you.

The first 2 is hardly a reason for a neg.

edit: I wasn't replying to your post, the one with the neg comment. Not sure why it's showing up here.

  • +3

Gotta love the stingy buggers that come in for an eye test, and then leave with a prescription to obviously get their glasses online. Always pretend to look around for a little while too.

    • +2

That's the smart thing to do, you can't argue against that.

    • +4

Gotta love the OzBargainers that come in for an eye test, and then leave with a prescription to obviously get their glasses online. Always pretend to look around for a little while too.

Not sure how you typed in your comment, every time I try to copy paste it, it auto corrects.

    • +1

The word isn't stingy, it's smart. What are you doing on ozbargain if you disagree?

  • +1

"This popular frame is currently sold out. Please continue shopping"

It says that on all the good ones! Wonder if they will get more stock, or if they take the semi-popular ones off for this Tuesday deal?

  • can someone post up the codes again?
i clickd like and no codes showed up

  • I can't open that link with a screenshot of codes and I can't see what must be an image link on their facebook page due to work security (I can access FB though).

Also a few ppl are posting on their wall of dodgy practices by these guys. Not saying they're true, just saying ppl area accusing of unsolicited contact and payment demands when they have already paid.

If anyone is going to buy a pair, can you do it via this link

    http://www.clearlycontacts.com.au/fb-invitation.ep?id=533820…

They have a refer-a-friend deal…apparently you and a friend can earn credits towards your next pair of glasses

    Cheers!

    • -1

So, are YOU getting some type of benefit from everyone else clicking on your supplied link??

      • Hey, if someone would have posted their link before I bought mine, then I would have clicked on it. Especially the deal poster! I see nothing wrong with helping each other out at no expense, harm or extra effort to those purchasing!

        • +2

I agree, nothing wrong with helping out fellow OzBargainers, that is the whole ethos of the site afterall. I would have clicked on your link if I'd seen it before the direct link further up. I only came this far down the comments to thank the op as I got mine today.

Although the terms may prevent you getting a credit with this promotion

    Great got a pair today!

  • +1

Thanks ISSH, I missed out on this last week. Managed to get my Guess frames today priced at $88 on the site for free, P&P was $15.45. I noticed the insurance cost varied depending on the original cost of the frames.

    • awesome, glad i helped!

  • +4

Just thought I'd post my recent experience, my first post. Apologies for the length.
I thought I would order some new glasses for hubby and was lucky enough to get a freebie the first week.
Due to his prescription I had to order the more expensive lenses. So despite getting the lenses free ($98), the cost of lenses, express delivery and insurance was close to $90 anyway. Decided to go ahead as it still sounded like a good deal.
The express delivery is 2-3 days after assembly (the time of which is not stated), though after ordering a expected date of delivery is listed.
My order was in the status of "Your order is being shipped" for almost a week which to me implies it's on its way to my address.
After missing the expected date, my enquiry on to the glasses whereabouts was met with a sorry letter. Due to a "glitch" in the system an email advising that the glasses were now sold out and stock depleted was not sent, and thanking me for my understanding. I could also order a different frame with the same value of the frame I already ordered.
On a interesting note, the glasses are now marked down to $19 but state they are out of stock and now "Coupons are not applicable".

My husband and I really don't like any of the other frames so have decided to ask for a refund as it does not seem worth the effort especially when a lot of the frames you might be interested in are excluded from the offer and you can't "try them on" in the virtual mirror anyway.

Thank you to the OP and everyone on OzBargain. Have previously just checked in now and again but felt strongly enough to register and post my experience.
