I know that iinet (possible westnet as well) have unmetered downloads on Xbox. I would assume this applies to Foxtel through xbox as well.

I live (partially) at 4650, no Foxtel there. But because I signed up using my Brisbane address, I can use it at Maryborough 4650
All regional areas are done through Austar, whereas metro areas are done through Foxtel. Unfortunately that's the way it is, regional areas get shafted once again.

You're correct, they will send you a code, no contact with M$ required.

When you log on, even if it doesn't show you are logged in, click the 'new user' button
Ill give it a plus, but seems like alot of effort just for 1 free month of xbox live, even with the free foxtel, unless you have an unlimited cap or are with bigpond, its just not worth it.
yeah too much effort if you dont put in your CC details it does not register you and that is way too much effort in cancelling etc to just save $3.50 or something as you can get 12 months gold for around $40pa from a few sites

I try to cancel foxtel and it shows it will be cancelled on August from foxtel website after you cancel the subscription.
also I get an email that the effective date of cancellation will be in August.
I called Foxtel and I was told there is a problem on their system and they will maek sure my subscription will be cancelled by july by the end of the free 1 month subscription.

^^This is true. They said there's a problem with their computers, and that techies would try to sort it out over the next few days.
But the customer service was friendly and very cooperative. Shouldn't be much a problem.
usual disclaimer about being very wary of Xbox Live ongoing 'hidden' subscription costs, but free is free… good post.
