+David Jones Capital Grand Food Store in Melbourne
Spend $30 in store get $10 back, two times - in store only

    • Didn't get this and I have a DJs card. I live in Sydney though

      • Yeah, I'm annoyed too about not getting this offer on my DJs card in Sydney.

Would have liked to use the offer at the Food Store in the Market Street store.

        • Too hard to separate the Foodhall terminals from the rest of the store. The Food Store in South Yarra just sells food and flowers and probably liquor too.

Foodhall in Market Street isn’t the same as when I used to work there five years ago …

    • Wonder if they have giftcards down there.

      • Can’t see why they wouldn’t

      • They sell gift card online as well

        • They meant for the David Jones Food Store …

          • @kerfuffle: So you mean it can only be used at the Food Store only?

            • @nightelves: Yeah, to try make you go there. I assume the promotion will be set up a la Vogue i.e. if you went to Chaddy DJs for example, you wouldn't get the credit

    • Expensive and shite store anyway! Mostly just prepackaged junk.

  • +1

also Pet House Get 10% back, one time use. seems like no cap.

Pet House (like Robins Kitchen) is owned by House.

  • Ola is the worst app 😂thx op anyway!

    • +1

I agree it's garbage, rides are cheaper than uber though

    • Can you please elaborate on why it's the worst app? I've never used it.

      • On my pixel phone, as soon as I book a ride, app crashes

        • Not on my Pixel2XL

    • Seems to be better with recent updates? Still super shady but works fine for me

  • For those who used amex flight Centre offers before. Does it work with gift cards on this website?

    https://flightcentre.fctggiftcards.com/
    https://www.flightcentre.com.au/travel-extras/gift-cards

    • +3

Yes you can buy gift cards, but I believe there is an Amex CC surcharge and flight centre don't price match any more so for me it costs more to book with them even with the Amex offer.

      • Wait. They no longer price match?

You just saved me from buying huns $ worth of flight centre gift cards.

        • +1

Wait. They no longer price match?

They make up all sorts of excuses like you need to buy something else at "full price" before they'll discount flights.

Really painful to deal with them.

          • @salmon123: Had a similar experience, however calling up a different rep yielded better results, worth a try.

            • -1

              @Chewiebacca:

              worth a try

Not really worth it for me. What's the best case scenario? They agree to match the flights and you save $75 * number of amex cards … but then they tack on a exorbitant change fee (well in excess of what an online travel agent or airline directly charges) … save your self the hassle and book somewhere else.

      • No surcharge if purchased online

      • +2

That was my experience using the flight centre gift cards I bought with the last Amex offer too. Won’t do it again as they are consistently far more expensive than booking direct for me!

      • Does this offer or the gift cards work for student flights? They still price match and are part of the flight centre group.

  • On amex Qantas ultimate: No vinomofo (damn) , but have

    • +1

Let me know if you want vinomofo.. I got it but won’t be using it

    • Thank you sooooo much

  • +1

Fight centre was $100 last year, now $75. I think AMEX are devaluing everything they do

    • +3

i think it is the marketing budget from the said companies

    • +2

But you did have to spend $500 for that $100 credit.

      • Ahh thought it was $400 last time as well. Guess it's not that bad compared to most of the other offers that are going downhill

    • +2

20% last time and 18.75% now, not too bad

  • I only got it on one set of cards.

But won't be using it this year.

Edit actually now have it on all my cards

  • +1

Purchased Flight Centre gift card online with no surcharge and received the confirmation email immediately 'You’ve just used your Flight Centre Group Amex Offer'

Yet to receive the gift and card

    • Hey… so u must have purchased the flightcentre gc via https://flightcentre.fctggiftcards.com/ right? Have u received the cashbavk from amex yet?

      • Yes, have received the Amex statement credit and also the FC gift card

  • +1

check the flight price before you use the flight center offer, I found all the flights I want to book work out to be the same after using amex offer. It’s just waste of time

  • Has anyone had any trouble adding their Amex card to Ola? I get payment verification error.

  • +1

    No Harvey Norman this year??!

    • Patience……..thou shall be rewarded soon…….I’m waiting too

  • Flight centre no longer has price match, right?

    • yes, they removed it from their website

      • +1

if so —- I feel it is not worth to book through them?

but sometimes I know they have cheap flight as well

  • The Flight Centre Group credit doesn't seem to include StudentUniverse, which is listed as part of their group - anyone reckon this was intentional or just an oversight? Would be great since they actually have some decent flight deals on there.

    • +1

nothing would surprise me about their shady shady operations
      probably buried in the T/Cs,
      cant use on hotels,
      minimum spend $5,000,
      cant be used for packages
cant be used for negotiated deals

  • +5

For those of you wanting to buy Flight Centre gift cards, a word of warning, their system is a PITA. You do your booking online then you have to ring a number to actually apply the gift cards, using cards from the last deal it took me around 20 minutes just to make payment. Their excuse is that its due to the level of voucher fraud they've experienced. I won't buy again for this reason.

    • Just buy the gift cards in store then book them after?

      • There is a booking fee if you book instore, for flights it was around $20 per person, maybe even per leg.

        • Buy gift card In Store then redeem online or on phone..

          • +2

@lilkid28: thats what I'm talking about in my first comment. Give it a go, you will find out soon enough how painful it is.

    • +2

Second this. Attempted to make a booking on their website and was prompted to call the number when I tried to apply the gift card. They then proceeded to walk me through the booking all over again, and as I was flying with a low cost carrier had specific add ons I selected in my original booking, which they refused to mirror over the phone. They instead tried to sell me an all inclusive ticket.

Had to go in store to sort it out. Never again

  • Anyone get the Laithewaits wine people offer spend $150 get $50 back

I also have a Virgin Wines spend $150, get $50 back. Virgin Wines and Laithwaites are the same company. I wonder if you'll get both, by making a single purchase…

    • Yes. I very much doubt you will get both credits from the one transaction but you have nothing to lose by trying.

      • The multiple credits have worked in the past, with other promos like DJs statement credit and Vogue shopping night - a single transaction would trigger both.

I have $100 to lose by trying, because I don't need wine … Laithwaites has a pretty bad rep on google reviews.

The live chat on both websites shares the same session info, so I think it'll work.

        • Please try and report back then.

          • @SydneySwan: LiveChat rep said they'll shop up as different merchants on my bank statement, so I'm going to give it a miss … especially because of their bad rep online. I might've rolled the dice if they had a better online rep.

  • +1

Universal Traveller has a price match (https://www.universaltraveller.com.au/best-price-promise), this is good for me as I'm looking at a Cathay pacific flight and they're more expensive than the airline.

    • But can you use the FC gift cards there? I know it is part of the FC group but sometimes they can be PITA about these things

      • the T&C says YES

  • Would hotel bookings through Flight Centre qualify?

    • I would imagine providing the spend is with FC (i.e. providing you don't pay at the hotel) then it should count.

  • +2

i forgot to check ozbargain before i booked my flight. just lost $75 :((

  • i keep on getting error when trying the manual link:
    WE'RE SORRY

Our system is not responding at this time, please try again later.

  • must of been the cache in ie. used another browser and it worked. now what to do with over 15 saved offers for flight centre.

    • how are you planning to use

  • Can I pay on Flight centre and do the split payment ?

    • yes, did this before, no problem, but you do get surcharged using amex

  • Does anyone know if buying Redballoon gift cards off their website would qualify?

    • Nope,
Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card to which the offer is saved, at RedBalloon at www.redballoon.com.au. Offer valid at Australian website only.

Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.

so u can buy a $400 egift card and use later? and still get the $75.

    • Who uses these things later…splash out and have a holiday today….

    • Yes. GCs valid for 3 years.

  • Anyone has trouble purchasing e-gift cards online? Tried purchasing online just then and says Payment failed.

    • Same. Tried a few times and got the same payment failed message. Is there anything I can do to purchase online? I am unable to attend the store to purchase it. Thanks!

      • purchased on Sunday with no issues apart from the fact that it took about 24 hrs to deliver, amex email however arrived pretty much instantly.

      • +1

Same error.. and it seems that there are pending charges on my cards too for the attempted purchase. They better drop off :(
