Apple Slinky Maker $12 (Usually 34.95) (+ postage if bought online ) King of Knives

200

Received an email stating that this is an online only special for Fathers Day, but bought them at the local store during the week for the same price, so if you have a store locally, it might be worthwile checking out to save on shipping.

Can be set to peel and /or slice apples into a spiral making them an easy to eat addition to a youngster's lunchbox. Older children love them for the novelty value too.

Also good for making curly fries.

Their Mundial Take-A-Part Kitchen Shears are a good buy at $9 too, rrp $39.95. They do come up on special there a couple of times a year, but this is by far the cheapest I've seen them. Very handy for use in the kitchen as they pull apart for cleaning

A couple of other specials from the sale include:

Humvee folding rainbow sports knife, $12 instead of $59.95
Bruno Barontini 7pc Steak Knife set, $9, rrp $34.95 I bought these a couple of years ago in a sale for $12 and find them to be very good quality compared with anything else that sells for around this price regularly.

*NOTE Their site seems to be a bit glitchy at the moment - the scrolling banner with the catalogue specials doesn't contain the slinky maker (I had to do a search for it,) and the scrolling banner seems to be the only place that is linking correctly to the products. Hopefully just a temporary glitch that will pass.

Their packing and shipping charges:
under 1kg - $ 9.95 (Anywhere in Australia)
1 kg - 5kg $11.95 (Anywhere in Australia)
Over 5kg - $14.95 (Anywhere in Australia)

  • nice find…

  • I wonder if the thickness of the slice will work for frying potatoes..

    • +2

I've tried a few types of potatoes but the 'slinky' keeps falling apart before it gets off the device :(

still, the slinky bits, lightly battered, fry up real nice :)

    • I believe yes. Google 'spring potato'.

  • are apple making kitchen products now?

    • +5

if that were the case, it would be called an "iSlinky maker"

      • Can I make Appletiser from this?
Is there any similar product for Grapetiser?

  • So this have the license from Steve Jobs already?

  • Tried looking at the site from work and it is blocked telling me that it is a site related to "weapons". Good ol IT.

Seen these cheaper at Parklea markets and no delivery invovled.

"First post, so please be gentle with me" - no.

What is it about OzB that makes everyone feel a need to beg for mercy by annoucing their 'first post' despite it already being indicated above?

      • +2

Ha ha - someone got a razzing the other day for not having mentioned it…. and begged accordingly. lol
Some people are just never happy.

Back in January they made a Site Policy made about it….

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:first_post

I personally consider the whole "first post be kind" business to be a form of trolling, so I agree with the policy.

        • Seriously, who cares? If you have a problem with it, just don't bother with the deal.

        • Thanks for clarifying that llama. Personally I thought it a bit lame myself, but after seeing that comment the other day figured it was what was expected. I'm wondering if that could be put somewhere a bit more visible for those of us who have joined more recently?

    • Yeah, my local Homart store were selling them for $10

But I still like this deal - love the name of the brand "Bruno Barontini"
Sounds like the inventor of Pagani Zonda :D

I wonder what else they sell at HOmart for $10 ROFL

        • I see what you did there.

    • Ah, but the cost for most of us to get to Parklea Markets would be significantly greater than the $2 price difference, so hardly worth the neg, but whatever floats your boat …

Cute, if you like it but I suspect this is one of those single purpose appliances that get used a few times for novelty and then just take up room in your cupboard. But I won't vote either way on that account.

  • Would be nice if you add "Plus Postage" to the title, as it brings it to at least $21.95. A lot of places sell this for around $25 as their regular price, so it's still a bargain, but some people vote before reading the full details.
