    Thanks

4 - go to Sony cashback
      5 - finalise payment

SOURCE: I did it myself on Monday

      • +1

Thank you so much for sharing!

        • pleasure!

      • same. tracked fine!

      • Just checking I'm on the correct path, i've tabs open that looks like I finalise payment and then log details for Sony cashback afterwards? Cheers ~

        • my path was:
          1 - price match
          2 - cashrewards
3 - on the newly opened sony browser window, finalise the payment.

For me it worked and I had CB confirmation

          • @ets27: Love the instant response ! Morning ~

            • +1

@saltyas: you caught me in my morning routine of deal hunting :D

              • @ets27: Triple checking, my checkout is $2,199.00. Cashrewards link is active, I'll have to apply and claim for Sony cashback after purchase eh?

                • +1

@saltyas: Yes, pretty sure Sony CB is after purchase

  • How long does it take for Sony to price match generally?

    • +2

It took them between 5-10 minutes to send me a link.

    • +1

They are pretty quick, you'll get a response in 1-2 hours

  • Damn.. I price matched on Monday at 2293!!! Luckily I can use TRS :)

  • +4

    2199-2199/1.1*10%-300=$1699

    • That's the correct one..

  • How do you request a price match? There are a bunch of buttons but none of them open up a chat option or anything.

    • +2

Press "Request a Price Match" under the Add to Cart Button. Then press the "Request A Price Match" button when moved down the page and fill in the details and they'll send you an email with information.

It's best to be logged in already so they can link to your Sony Account which is required for price matching.

      • Thanks. For some reason there isn't a button for me but there was a spot of white that made my cursor turn into a hand and that brought up the request.

  • Is the Sony $300 cashback available for A7C or A7 III only? Where can I find information about it?

    • Yeah….it is a pity A7c is not included. I was keen to go for it. The Sony website shows it on backorder. Maybe there are production shortages with it.

      • I've got A7III sitting in my cart price matched to 2199 but not sure if I'll pull the trigger.
I can live with 150g extra weight but really wanted that fully articulated screen on A7C

  • +1

I just tried doing this price matching and received the following:

'Thanks for requesting a price match with Sony.

As it falls under an exclusion of our price match terms and conditions, your request has not been accepted.

You can read more about price match terms and conditions on the product page where you requested the price match. You can also read it through the below link:

    https://store.sony.com.au/pricing.html

Should you have another request to price match, please send us the details of your request by filling up the form through your desired product’s page. Our team will review your request and get back to you promptly.'

    • I received the same email

    • I didn't even get an email back, it just showed up in my cart on the Sony website as $2199

    • +1

Try just putting the retailer name and price instead of putting the link to their website on Sony website and respond to their E-mail once you get price matched. Login with your account and you should see the product already in your cart.

Don't forget to go through Cashrewards website before finalising purchase.

    • I received a successful price match email from Sony after about 2.5 hours
      Hi XXX,

Thanks for requesting a price match with Sony. Great news, your request has been approved and your Sony cart has already been updated. Please log in to your registered Sony account or refresh your shopping cart so that you can proceed with the purchase of the ILCE-7M3/BC AP2.

  • Very tempting

  • +2

good lord this camera has held value well.

I paid $18xx week 1 of release after cashbacks and other promos.

Great camera if you're already invested in FE glass. Hell, even if you're NOT invested in FE glass it's a good way to go.

  • Great price

  • Question for the Pros.
I already have a Sigma Art 24-70 and a sony 20mm f1.8. Is there a real need to get the 14mmf1.8 too? IO am very tempted as I just price matched to 1700 plus CB plus TRS but not sure if I should go for it.
I love night landscape photography, astro sometimes, architecture, etc. Reviews seem stellar and I am sooo tempted but I am wondering if it overlaps too much

    • +2

Really depends how often you go that wide. Obviously great for astro and architecture.

I'd think you could maybe get away with the 24-70 and the 14. But the other 2 can't cover for the 14 (it's a lot of photos and stitching to get a 14 equivalent with the 20).

      • Well… I'm thinking the 20 will be the most used for traveling etc. The 24 70 more rarely as it is awesoke but fairly heavy, the 14 for wide stuff. Probably overkill? Can't really decide.

      • Thanks, btw

      • oh and sorry… but I already own the 24-70mm and 20mm

        • I travel with the 24-70 (versatile) and then use the wide doe astro.

But yes… Not the most compact for walking around vs a prime lens.

          • @shankur: which 24-70 you have? I have the sigma and bloody heavy!
Also, which wide you use for Astro?

Sorry if I am too curious, just switched from another system :)

            • @ets27: Should have said I travel with the zoom. In my case 18105f4. Goes wide to zoom… And while a bit brighter would be good, it's rarely an issue.

And then I have the laowa15f2 for astro etc (manual focus only). The Sony gm 14f1.8 is obviously a great other option (didn't exist when I was buying)… But it's also twice the price. You wouldn't be unhappy with either.

              • @shankur: Thanks!
I get that the 20mm1.8 cannot really replace the 14mm1.8, right?
I mean… makes sense to have both? In my opinion yes but I'd like to hear opinmions..

                • @ets27: I mean… You can take 4 x 20mm photos and stitch them together to give you a 14mm equivalent.

For something like a milky way astro I'd be taking probably 6 or so 14mm shots and stitching, so you're looking at 24x20mm photos. And then if one of them is blurry or not aimed correctly the whole thing becomes a waste.

So really just comes down to the balance you want when travelling with lightweight (more lenses, more weight), budget (more lenses more money), time (less lenses, more time), etc.

I travel carry on only, hence the "versatile" zoom lens. But if I was a wedding photographer and driving to work I'd have 4 lenses instead of the 1 zoom. So comes down to your use case.

The good thing about good lenses is they don't devalue much… So you might be able to pick up a used one in good condition, and if you don't end up using it much should be able to sell for about what you bought it for (assuming you don't damage it).

  • That's a great deal!

The Sony Lens have cashbacks on them too!

What do people think of the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens as a general lens?

    • What do people think of the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens as a general lens?

Jack of all trades. Master of none.

I wouldn't get it myself but depends on what type of photography you do the most.

    • General lens yes, especially travelling, as it is lighter and more versatile (wider) range than the 24-70 f2.8.

    • +1

I use this lens a lot through work for both video and photo - as mentioned below, really versatile, but I don’t think you’ll find yourself gagging to use it. Autofocus performance is fantastic with it, bokeh is delightful and you Can get great results. You do miss the extra light from 4 to 2.8 though, so if you do lots/any low light stuff it’s maybe not the best choice.

  • This or Sony A7c? Really tempting…

    • I have the same dilemma mate. It's funny that both of these cameras were released more than 2 years apart (2018 and 2020) but they almost have identical technical specs.

  • +1

    Sony A7III: $2,199
    10% Cashrewards: $219.90

    Nope, CR excludes GST.

  • i was just about to buy a73 yesterday. thank god i held on to it.

    • alright, took about 45mins in my case,

  • +1

Is it good time to buy or you believe there would be better deals around Good Friday/Cyber Monday?

    • exactly how much better will that be? think about that. even if it will be around 1500$, for me, own it now still worth it. but all comes down to individules.

  • Been holding off on upgrading from my first-gen A7. Thanks for the deal!

  • I've received the price match email, but the price didn't change after I added the item to the shopping cart.

    • i got the approval email. but then i had to reply to it, i still havnt got the reply yet. its been 1.5hours since i reply to them….-.- so slow

      • Around same time for me

        • Received confirmation email after ~2.5 hrs if you care

    • Well, I registered another account and asked for another price match, then it worked. I made my order and I have received the Cashrewards confirmation email as well.

  • How long do you think I have to make the purchase?

    • +1

Sony Frenzy Now on! Ends 11.59pm (AEDT) 7th November 2021

  • hmmm can't seem to be able to reset Sony password.

    dammit

    • 4 hours still havnt got 2nd reply from them…………………………………..so slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

      • +1

actually, I didn't have to reply.

I just submitted the price match request, and in an hour I received an email from sony. I logged in, and it was in my cart at the matched price. no email reply necessary

        • same me

  • Amazing!!! Snatched one last night

  • Thanks op

  • +1

    cashback is $199.91, not $219

    • that's right, same here.

    • +1

Apologies, didn’t know GST was excluded.. updated deal..

  • Very tempting but surely wait for black friday? Cashback available til Jan.

    • Might be oos by then

      • iOS at camera house or Australia wide? I’m sure other retailers will have deals no?

  • also price matched and cashback-tracked 70-200/4 from CameraPro. good lens for a good price

will also get (price match, cashback + sony $50 cashback) a 50/1.8 for casual walk around and kit's complete.

an alternative would be price matching 24-105/4 from CameraPro, also additional $100 back from Sony. good deal

another thing I price matched but didn't buy is 24-70/4 zeiss, but it's old and slow. nah

    • Am also getting the 24-105/4 today, done deal. Any recommendations for lens to pair with this purchase, mainly travel videography, and daily photography.

      • +1

24-105 will already cover most of that. you might want to get a fast prime (or two) of your choice to complement that

it's up to you really, what is your "daily photography". me I would use 70-200 for daily photography as I like tele end of the scale. I did have 24-105 on the previous system but I would only ever use 24 end of the range, and 105 is not tele enough for me. Sony has a wide variety of fast primes to choose from, depending on requirements and budget

        • Brilliant, more research and thought to be had on my end - thanks for that shabs ~

          • +1

@saltyas: 55/1.8 Zeiss is quite good for a lot of things, although not wide enough for architecture for example. but good for food, portraits, etc.

new 24/2.8G is also good if wide angle is needed

      • Are you getting this lens: Full Frame E-Mount 24-105mm F4 G Lens with Optical Stabilisation from Sony $1699 or Camera pro $1299? Sony offered 15% off lens listed price but Camera Pro price is way cheaper, Or do you also ask Sony to match it separately?
I think 24-105 lens is good all round lens?

        • Price match with Sony (From CameraPro), and use Sony CashBack, I think CashRewards should work with this too. (Awaiting price-match email, been 3hrs)

  • +1

    aight! done with my pricematching/cashrewarding/tracking

a7iii, 70-200/4, and 50/1.8 inbound (and shit load of cashbacks from Sony and Cashrewards later on)

thanks a lot OP and whoever suggested price matching, and special thanks to CameraPro for low prices on all things Sony (sorry fellas we didn't order from you though)

  • Thought this was the A7S 3 for a sec..

  • I have discount code from Sony customer service valued $200 few month ago, not sure if I use it if I still get 10% from cashreward or no? considering they both valued at $200.

  • I am planning to buy this camera. I am new to this kind of cameras, not sure which lens to order. Which lens i should order for everyday photography & traveling?

Everyday photography: family, events (parties) and travelling.

    • Your usage sounds like my usage. I'm seeing 'Full Frame E-Mount 24-105mm F4 G Lens OSS' on most platforms as a good all-rounder. (Keep in mind Full Frame so FE mounts)

    • Can't go wrong with either the Sony 35mm F1.8, 28mm F2.0 or 24mm F2.8 (depends on your shooting style/preferences).

I personally shoot stopped down and wide when travelling and happily use the 16-35mm F4. I leave my fast primes at home.

    • For a cheap and light standard zoom lens I like the Tamron 28-75 2.8 https://www.digidirect.com.au/tamron-28-75mm-f-2-8-di-iii-rx…
Loses out a bit on the wide end though with 28mm start as opposed to 24mm.

New version is coming out but a bit more expensive https://www.digidirect.com.au/tamron-28-75-f2-8-di-iii-vxd-g…

      There's also a Sigma 28-70 2.8 https://www.digidirect.com.au/sigma-28-70mm-f-2-8-dg-dn-cont…

      • How Sony Full Frame E-Mount 24-105mm F4 G Lens with Optical Stabilisation compare to these ones? Camera pro sell it for $1299, - $100 cash back link

        • +1

Greater FL range & OSS vs Faster Aperture. Tamron is slightly lighter and smaller but IMO the difference is minor.

          Pick your poison. :)

        • I find it to be a very good lens, great for travel. My copy is sharp and it has great FL coverage.

    • check out tamron, great price for great performance.

  • Still haven’t got second reply from Sony since last night what should I do ?

    • I never had any replys or had to reply to them, I just logged in and the price matched products were in my cart. try logging in!

      • I am logged in since yesterday

“and respond to their mail. Once that's done, product will already be in your cart.”

My cart has been empty the whole time

I got the approval, but my cart was never updated or got anything added to it. And I made sure it is the same email and name

Should I add the full price item first or leave it empty before price match it ?

        • I had full priced one in my cart, so after approval I think I had the item twice in cart? at different price

I killed the one I didn't want and checked out

contact sony support chat, they are good
