out of stock TDK LoR ST-600 USB Gaming Headset "PC Only" - $5 with Free Shipping from Dick Smith
This was posted 1 year 1 month 14 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal
Saw someone mention this on Whirlpool, so I decided to check it out myself. They're PC only, so they're no good for Xbox or PS3 users. I don't know how good these are sound-wise, but TDK is a good brand and $5 isn't a lot of money, so even if they're absolute rubbish, it's no big loss. They'd be more that good enough for Skype/Msn.
It's my first bargain submitted here so be nice. Please don't start a Dick Smith flame war or anything.
Edit: Turns out that Dick Smith have started their online sale a day early, so there's a whole heap of discounted games as well.
Update: Deal has expired, so it's been marked as such

lonewolf_860 on 10/04/2012 - 10:06 ¶with these can i just plug in via USB and not worry about the other two plugs?
Might be good for my mums laptop and Skyping.
+2 votessuperforever on 10/04/2012 - 10:43 ¶Are you sure? If it say USB gaming headset I don't think you need both, I think should be either one.
Anyone own one can confirm?
+1 votesuperforever on 10/04/2012 - 11:10 ¶So if I don't want the extra bass effects can I just use the USB for talking?

Can someone update this deal to be a Dick Smith Sale part 2? Lots more sales popping up.
+1 voteMadMaxHeadroom on 10/04/2012 - 11:11 ¶At $5 with free postage, I would guess that they are pretty much giving them away, and possibly even subsidising the cost of postage.

Great deal, last time they were here they were $40.00 (from RRP of $89.95): http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/57938
Will use for VoIP, been mucking around with BT adapter and BT headset but this is much better.
+1 voteFound this deal on OzB previously. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/53278
Apparently they were $39.94 (Save $50). So $89.94!!
Bought one… just for the heck of it !EDIT: Extra one-year warranty costs $17. Bwahahaa
0xDEADBEEF on 10/04/2012 - 10:45 ¶These go for $60+ on ebay, this is a mistake, has to be. Bet they wont ship them

superforever on 10/04/2012 - 10:58 ¶Ordered 2 but after completed by paypal and redirected back to DSE I got an error but still showed in DSE under my account order in process.
Also checked paypal the order listed there, hopefully nothing wrong.

Isn't it wrong to say this doesn't work with PS3 or Xbox? If you have a home theatre plugged into the game console couldn't you just plug it into the home theatre's USB and 3.5mm jack. Couldn't you also order a PS3 audio to 3.5mm jack to also solve that problem and plug it to the PS3 USB. Don't both solutions provide power to the headphones?

+2 votesI'd assume that it would work with any 3.5 jack (With batteries/USB plugged in) but as the PS3 and X360 don't have the jacks they will not work out of the box without additional hardware. Thus they state it doesn't work to save people complaining that, when they buy it and plug the USB, they get nothing.

+4 votesWHYYYYYYYYY? Why would you pay for 340% of the purchase price for a warranty? The headphones would have break and be replaced four times for your warranty to be worth anything! Actually, as you have bought two, you would need to go through seven broken headsets! Are you mad?
+9 votesExplosions_Hurt on 10/04/2012 - 11:18 ¶Haha, I'm only kidding mate. Your deductions made me laugh.

superforever on 10/04/2012 - 11:14 ¶Also at the top some people said the USB is only for power the bass and cannot use USB only for sound and mic.
Any idea?
