    IS it a bargain?

    • +1

It's between $1 and $10 cheaper than BigW, depending on the model. Better race out and buy one before they sell out.

  • Wow, bargain!

    • -1

I know! It's around .0035% cheaper than stores.

      • Which stores? and more importantly which stores with stock?

    • It's the cheapest you can buy it for in AU… If that's not worthy of being posted I don't know what is.

Unless you assume that everyone has TGG gift cards left over. I never managed to find any at all the first time since people bought fridges and TVs which required thousands of dollars of stock.

  • -2

Not a bargain just like the other post.

    • Can you find it cheaper? By all means share with us when and where?!

      • Can you tell us all how $1 cheaper is a bargain in your dictionary?

        • Can you tell me how $1 isn't a bargain? Also RRP is $899 so it's only $1 saving on suppliers that might no longer have stock.

Also OZBargainers have claimed a bargain with even less than a dollar involved.

        • +3

It's not just about sharing a bargain, it's justifying your NEG as per OzBargain rules…
          Just above the bullet points

        • +1

It's Apple. The fanboys are used to begging for scraps.

        • -5

Seriously mate give it a rest.

Your post doesn't set out what saving is had on each item.

A bargain in my books is dependent on % saved. So spending $497 to save $1 wouldn't be considered a bargain in the books of any reasonable person.

        • -4

@ Zero - ummm $1 off other retailers price is not a bargain. Does that explain properly for you now as to the reason why I negged this post?

Also from the "Voting Guidelines" you refer to:

"2. Pricing is always subjective. A $1 off a $500 item isn’t much of a bargain, but on a $3 item it is."

        • +4

          @ATD
I don't believe I ever said I didn't understand why you NEG'd. In fact, I think I made it quite clear I did understand you given my previous comment.
Either way, it still doesn't change the fact you haven't (and possibly even can't) justify that NEG with a link to the mysterious cheaper iPad.

If it's a bargain or not is irrelevant. You are asked to justify a NEG due to a cheaper price with a link to said cheaper price. Something which you have yet to do.

        • +1

ATD, you've justified why you didn't vote positive. you haven't justified why you voted negative.

        • @ Zero & jdr

What wires are crossed here? I read your posts to say that if I can't refer to a cheaper price, that is the ONLY basis I can neg this deal?

The OP yesterday posted a "bargain" that showed nothing more than one retailer matching another retailer's everyday price (where is the bargain in that? - should have been moved to the forum). Today, the same OP posts another "deal" where the saving is what?? He doesn't set out what baragin is to be had just posts some prices.

The reason why I neg it is also the "justification" of the neg and any distinction between the two is mere semantics. Saying that I only justified why I didn't vote positive and not why I voted negative makes the mind boggle.

        • +2

Lol, you can't neg a post just because you don't like it. You can neg a post for various reasons but you have to have a valid reason. At this point, you don't. Just not liking a post isn't a valid reason. Cheaper elsewhere, spam, scam, stock-puppeting, illegal, etc. are.
You said you neg'd it because you don't think this is a good price/bargain, implying you can get it cheaper somewhere else. We asked where and you refuse to or can't tell us.
You have to remember, the cheapest price is the best price in most circumstances. And if it's less than the RRP, less than standard retail store prices and the cheapest price available, it's a bargain.
          From Apple: $899
          From JB: $896
          From BigW: $858
I do understand where you're coming from but this is the cheapest, this a bargain.

I don't think this is a good price/bargain so I didn't pos vote it. But I can't find a better price anywhere else either, so I can't neg it. It's pretty simple.

Regarding you comment about other people; Just because someone else does something they shouldn't, doesn't make it ok for everyone else, or you in this matter, to do it too. It's like saying if someone steals something, hurts someone or breaks the law and doesn't get reprimanded for it or gets away with it, makes it ok for everyone else to do it too. It doesn't. Like when children say "Well they did it, why can't I?".
Whether or not someone else had broken the rules/guidelines or what they have done is irrelevant.

        • Well I + community just revoked your neg. so sorry. Move on now.

  • They currently have 500 days interest free, no repayments, etc.

"Offer available on purchases from Harvey Norman franchisees (excludes Apple and Miele products, and online purchases)."
    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/finance-opti…

    • Ah didn't read the fine print, wonder why it's like that.

      • -1

Cause Apple only want people who can afford their product now as they are likely the ones to be suckered into the Apple brand and buy later rather than having the item repossessed because someone could afford their repayments and giving up and buying a cheaper (non-apple)brand.

    HN never equals bargain

    • +10

A real bargain would be, get it from Good Guys, then get 120% refund using the Good Guys price guarantee if HN are cheaper and have stock…

  • Big w and target are sold out as of lat week. I tried buying one. Jbhifi had stock and could only price match the wifi 16 gig to 506. So if hn has stock the price ain't bad!

  • +5

OP is making ppl aware that HN have similar prices to Big W and GG. This helps those that are not confident negotiaters and those that benefit from buying from HN such as Go MasterCard holders with 500 days interest free for example.

I don't think the negs are justified. I think comments would have sufficed.

  • +4

Is the OP going to post every time the "new" iPad drops one dollar?

If it drops $100, by all means post, but people who are going to spend over $800 on an iPad are either going to shop around themselves, or don't care about $1 anyhow.

Anyway, I don't think any iPad post is going to be able to complete with the possible 20% off that Good Guys had recently using gift cards.

    • Yes I'll continue to post deals where where those that are looking to purchase an iPad can possibly find a cheaper deal or available stock.

I'm sure not everyone has access or got to benefit from the recent 20% gift card deal at The Good Guys.

      • Don't you know? Every OZBer managed to get $2000 worth and still have plenty spare. It's a known fact.

    • +1

you need to consider the bargain based on the current conditions. expired offers/reduced gift cards or stores without stock don't count!

      • Expired offers and stores without stock don't count? Interesting.

    • +2

Is it me or does sparkles not live up to her name?

    • What's the harm in posting it anyway? People do it for Crucial M4 SSDs and Galaxy Nexus phones. Also them Sandisk cards get a lot of posts.

Just skip to the next deal if you don't care for a few dollars savings. For most people, it's the cheapest you can get iPads for locally right now.

  • +5

    $1 cheaper, really…

  • +8

less than 1% off the normal price isnt a bargain in my books.

    • -1

The normal RRP is $899, 1%?

      • +2

RRP is for chumps. You can buy this exact same model from BigW of all places for virtually the same price. Therefore not a bargain in my book. Different story if everyone else was selling for RRP, but thats not the case. And that's why you are getting negged by others mate. Dont take it personal.

        • They don't have stock dude. My sister last weekend called up the four nearest Big W's and none had stock. Not knowing about OZB, she bought it from JB for RRP or close to it.

  • Did all of you who voted - did the same for the Previous ipad deal?( the GG one) Cause if i'm not wrong BW was already selling the ipads at similar price! I can't see any negative votes in the last deal though…

    • Thats because the deal was harshly moderated and removed the negs.

  • +2

No deal. Gerry doesnt need any more of anyones money to run his campaigns to protect his margins and screw customers over.

    • Last I looked, it was Apple that forced RRP on retailers. Where they are normally not able to undercut the RRP.

  • +2

woohoo, $1 cheaper, I am going to buy 500 or a $500 saving!

    • It's actually $3 cheaper, which is something percent cheaper!

      • lol, actually I found out that I can get even cheaper if I do buy 500 just found out from an Apple Store, told them I wasn't serious, just wanted to know if I wanted that quantity what could they do for me.

  • +2

    This deal is Hardly Normal.

  • Has anyone confirmed if they actually have stocks?

  • +2

    ITT pretentious ozbargainers

    • pretentious (prɪˈtɛnʃəs)

      — adj
      1. making claim to distinction or importance, esp undeservedly
      2. having or creating a deceptive outer appearance of great worth; ostentatious

So I gather you are referring to the OP's claim of bargainworthy then ;) ?
