  • You had me at file queue, thanks!

A good deal, but is needed if you have Cyberduck which is free?

    • +2

If your looking to save 0.99c, maybe. Personally, I just find this is better to use as it is more focused as a Finder replacement with additional network support. Cyberduck is an FTP program.

      • +2

I could care less about the 0.99, more about having yet another app, that may not really get used.
Will have a look at it.

      • cyberduck does more than FTP, it does AWS / SCP google drive and more

having said that, I never liked having to use finder to drag files into cyberduck so I picked this one up too.

        • ForkLift does FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, iDisk, SMB, AFP, NIS as per description. Not sure about Google Drive though.

  • really liking this app, thanks for the share!

  • I've always wanted to give this app a go as it is always so well reviewed on macupdate: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24467/forklift. Nice find GaelicAU!

Doh! OSX Lion only… I tried to buy it and I'm still on Snow Leopard :(

    • +1

Same. Now need to hop on a Mac with Lion… That's the problem with bargains like these, like trying to buy an iPad app but wouldn't let me on the iPhone.

      • If Apple weren't so locked down, it would be fair to the consumer to download an earlier version in the event they were on the latest OS.

      • I was thinking about it - only $34.99 on the app store to upgrade to Lion, then then isn't Mountain Lion just around the corner?

        • +3

How about logging into your App Store account on a Mac OSX Lion machine, buy ForkLift, log out, and reinstall when you get around to upgrading your OS?

        • Is there any way to buy the app without buying Lion or using Lion?

    • +5

How to buy Lion apps when still on Snow Leopard (can't run the app, but at least you'll have it bought for the future):
      1. Ensure you are logged in to your computer with full admin rights
      2. Open a Finder window
      3. Go to "Macintosh HD" -> "System" -> "Library" -> "CoreServices"
      4. Copy "SystemVersion.plist" to a backup location to be safe
      5. Edit "SystemVersion.plist" and sneakily update the last two values of "10.6.8" (or whatever version you have) to "10.7"
      6. Save the file, you will need to enter your admin password to do this
      7. Run the App Store, find your Lion-only app, and buy
      8. It will go and try to install and run, giving you an error (success!)
      9. Carefully restore your old backup of "SystemVersion.plist" or put those old version numbers back in and save (quickly, before your computer implodes ;)

      • I followed your instructions but it said i didn't have the right to change it which is weird as I thought i had full access/ permission for everything on my mac.

        • You need to Get INfo - "command I" on the "SystemVersion.plist" , then click on the padlock down the bottom right & change the details from read only to read and write.
Then you can edit it and it will save.

I Just did this, it worked, but mow my mac says it is running Windows Vista.
Joking, thanks for the tip it worked .

      • Fantastic - worked a treat! Thanks!

Fantastic deal, just bought it and this program is great, much nicer to use than CyberDuck and certainly worth it for 99c

  • Is there any way to purchase the app without having a Mac? I'll be buying a new Mac as soon as the refresh comes, so I wouldn't mind getting this now while the price is so good.

    • +2

I don't think so, ask a friend to let you use theirs, or go in to an apple shop and ask if they will let you use one of their display models to log in to your apple account and make the purchase?

      • Hmm. Good idea, thanks.

  • Great find for a great app. Very similar to Total Commander for PC. Very well worth the (almost) dollar! Thanks OP, very much appreciated!

As a mac noob, i find this app (and price) awesome.
For me, using my mac to interface with my NAS on a daily basis, Finder requires too many actions to achieve the result.

I know people who love PathFinder and this looks similar, with added FTP function. Have been waiting for PathFinder to drop in price, never liked Cyberduck, so this could be perfect. Thanks OP.

  • I just joined OB but the 24 hour posting ban on new members means I can't post deals. Coda 2 (the new version of Panic's popular code editor) for OS X, is $51.99 (usually $109.99) for 24 hours on the Mac App Store. A link to the official blog post http://www.panic.com/coda/support.html.

Thought the people using Forklift (since I use it myself and think it's a great FTP client) may know about Coda and care and post this deal on my behalf.

  • Thanks for the post, looks good, but how is the speed of transfer?

Using a free program Filezilla i think for very fast FTP speeds, most other programs are much slower.

    • Filezilla was much slower than Forklift when I tried it a few months ago. This and VMware were the main reason why I got the last macbundle, but I still bought a second copy of Forklift from the App store the other day for convenience with updating/reinstalling etc.

  • Please mark as EXPIRED, price is back at $29.99
