16GB Nexus 7 from EBGames for $297.97 - Includes FREE Transformers 3 (+$25 Google Play Credit)

1180

Nexus 7 16GB is currently selling for $299 from Google Store + $19.99 shipping for a total of $318.99. You can get the 16GB version from EBGames for $297.97 with a free copy of Transformer 3 and $25 of Google Play Credit. Only marginally cheaper but if you had any trouble with the device, bringing it to EbGames would be easier than shipping it back to Google I guess.

EBGames also charges for shipping but you can pick it up.

NOTE: This is a PreOrder. EBGames says that tablet will be available on 27th July.

        • So she's not human being :D.

  • I have some stupid questions, how much faster is the quad core processor in nexus 7 compared to galaxy tab 7.7 dual core? and how much better the galaxy tab 7.7 super AMOLED compared to nexus IPS screen if I don't have superman eye sight. And how good is JB compared to ICS? Thinking to sell my galaxy tab 7.7 and buy a nexus 7 but not sure it is an upgrade or downgrade.

    • There are a few good reviews around if you Google. The one I read last night states that N7 is better than GT overall but only if you can get past the lack of expansion slot. If you need more memory then the GT is the go.

    • Speed difference - maybe wait till N7 is available in retail stores and try it out.

Super AMOLED gives you more saturated colours (but if you are into photo editing, maybe you might prefer IPS). AMOLED vs IPS is always highly debatable.

JB is not a major release. JB (4.1) vs ICS (4.0) is kinda like GB (Gingerbread 2.3) vs FY (Froyo 2.2). That said, a new verion of OS is generally better.

  • Are you sure we will get those 25$ bonus?

also will we get warranty from EBgames instead? how long?

I agree it would be easier to go to eb game to return it if a problem happens.

    • Yes $25 bonus.

      • it's $25 credit for buying contents or apps in google play store.

  • Any extra checkout voucher codes ? :)

  • Ok, I might be a bit thick here but if I want to take this bad boy on the road with me can i just chuck a telstra chip into it and it will get 3g?

    • No, there's no 3G support, so you'd need a mifi device or similar that this can connect to over wifi to get internet on the road.

      • Ok cool, any suggestions in the best mifi deal?

  • I just preordered price noticed the went up by 3c to $298.00 - can't wait until its here. Are there any accessories avaiable yet?

How long until eb stop taking pre orders? I want to hold off as long as I can in case a better deal come out before release.

what better deal do you expect. cheaper than google play direct price….

yes I was in the same boat as you but after seeing HN retail it for $319 without the $25 google play credit I decided this was a better deal.

  • damn… i called up google to follow up on my request to cancel my order, but they said my order is being processed and they can't cancel it atm. They said once I receive a confirmation email, I should call them up immediately and they can "intercept" the order.

    • i think theyre lying. they are catching on that people want to get it for cheaper from a physical store. so it just so happens that i get an email telling me its been shipped after i tried to cancel my order? in the email it states that the order can be cancelled only if i refuse to accept the package, its gets sent back then 2 weeks later they will refund my money. that is a good months time

  • I've called google to cancel my order, because of my error in purchasing the 8GB tablet and not the 16GB tablet, and the extra warranty cover provided by EBgames. For those who are interested (from what the google guy told me) people who pre-ordered 1st July and before will not be able to cancel their orders as this is considered the '1st batch'.

  • Hmmm. Tablet time…

  • I guess EB can undercut the bigger retailers on tablets considering the massive margin they make on selling games at full RRP or higher.
Nexus7 has very low retail margin, even for tablets (no more then 10%) so they'd be making practically zero off it.

Actually the reason they can do that is cuz there is a fair bit of profit to be made on the 16gb version. Also the reason why every retailer is stocking the 16gb variant.

  • guys, prices at ebgames have gone up to $318….
free delivery, you still get the $25 credit and transformer movie..

oh and they have changed the expected delivery to August, so if I was the people that has bought it from gplay, I wouldnt cancel it!!

Has anyone got calls if their nexus 7 is ready to be picked up?

    • don't worry if you pre-ordered they still give you it for $298. i got mine today.

  • Just got a call from EB Games in Sydney that my 16GB is ready for pickup :) Nice, was due to be ready on 27th. Was feeling very jealous when a colleague had his arrive from Google yesterday, but I'm happy since he paid $20 more to have it only 24hours earlier..

  • Just picked up mine from Richmond NSW well worth the wait

  • Any retailers with stock of the 8GB version?

  • my screen is doing low light backlight issues.
    and trippy flashing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKOpbZQ3MQU&feature=plcp
contact google, who are having higher than normal volume of requests.
messed up preorder, slow shipping, faulty product, slow service.. great!. product+service not ready for the big time i'd say.

    • Thats a feature! :p seriously stop making comments like "not ready for the big time i'd say" and go return it.

      • i ordered direct from them.
        i'm awaiting their response
