Opps I printed it to write the post just realised only the first page came out :|
Slightly confused though on the first half of the page it says 15% off DSLR cameras but on the second it states 15% off cameras *excludes DSLR it contradicts itself unless I'm misreading something

      • +3

The first half of the page is the 'one-night-only sale', which includes 15% off DSLR just on that night.

The second half of the page is a separate sale that is running till 29th July, and it includes 15% off cameras (but excludes DSLR).

That's why there is different inclusions / exclusions

        • +4

          Clear as mud :D

        • +2

          I get ya :)

        • argh. is 15% worth it? you can price match for about 15% ? or are prices better at jb nowadays

    • All good for pre-orders?

  • +1

So the Nikon D3100 that's on the website for $593, would come down to $504.05 (after the 15% sale)??

    • If you are interested, I got this today for an amazing $408 in Frankston, they were willing to price match Kogan!

  • +1

Well - that's saved me from walking to my city JB store today - will wait til Wednesday ! :)

  • Does the sale include games?

    • I just looked up the previous ones and they all specifically had Games on the flyer this one does not so I suspect it doesn't include games of course you may find different when you go on the night.

      • Bummer! I guess I will still try my luck on the night.

  • does anybody know when they mean 15% of computers, that includes laptops? or just desktops?

    • +2

A computer can be both a desktop and a laptop so I'd say its off both.

  • Would the 20% apply on top of the TV on dvd sale (buy 2 get 1 free)?
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/tv-b2g1f.htm

    • +1

In the past they have had this sale during the 2 for 20 bluray and some stores have taken off the 20% off the top off that and some didn't. If the Buy 2 get one free is due to end after Wednesday then the 20% off should be applicable as well but as per all JB sales you will have to be vigilant with the Checkout operator because they usually get it wrong.

  • does this include AV receivers and things? (30% off yamaha)

  • I saw the Christopher Nolan collection for $46 in JB HIFI (unless my memory serves me wrong). If you subtract the 20% - it will definitely be cheaper than Amazon!! Mind you, the JB HIFI version is one movie short - but it's got the two Batmans and Inception … and they're the ones that really count (I purposely excluded Prestige).

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/75100

    • +1

if you read my post carefully, that has 5 movies instead 4 so it's not actually cheaper if you value it as per movie base. Anyways, JB's deal is still good.

      • Pot, meet kettle,

Mind you, the JB HIFI version is one movie short

        From my quote

  • Will the price of the 15% tv sale be different online and instore on Wednesday from 6-9pm. Will this be all JB Hifi's. I'm looking to buy a Samsung tv or an LG. I'm thinking maybe go instore and see if the 40" Samsung for $1046 or the 42" LG for $998 online will be different instore.

  • Make sure you check the prices online before you go instore.
Last time during one of these sales I went to buy a laptop and they had marked it up from the price online and what was marked the day before…

  • Can anyone give some insight as to JB’s policy on such discount events?

Will prices ‘magically’ go up @ 6pm Wednesday? Or will the discount apply onto the prices of the day?

Help appreciated….never been to one of these and wondering if it is worth the time?

    • +2

      Shouldn't do.

I just started doing some part time work and have noticed that the price discrepancies are generally due to the ever fluctuating prices of the stock combined with infrequent price card updating by staff. They definitely shouldn't be adjusted for the sale given the legal/ethical concerns.

I was actually quite surprised to hear the lengths that management will go to ensure customers are happy.

I'd suggest making your case and asking to speak with a manager if you are not happy with the sales staff.

Just the experience of a pleb playing in retail.

    • +1

Who do you think they are? Harvey Norman or something lol

      • Runnin' 'round leaving scars
        Collecting your jar of hearts
        And tearing love apart
        You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are?

    • +1

It does seem suss that they have to shut the store before the "sale". The already reduced price tags will magically disappear most likely from the TV's and computers and the discounts will apply from higher prices.

      • +1

The time is utilised to display sale merch, such as signs and banners. Common practice the night before the sale, hence the closure to set up.

      • +3

Go in before it closes, take notes of prices, go in after and compare. If you find a mismatch have a jolly good whinge.

    • Will prices ‘magically’ go up @ 6pm Wednesday?

Yes, they will…I've been through this a few times with JB. They will go up enough to ensure the price is at least the same after discount, if not slightly higher!

As the discombobulated says, take note (photo, catalogue) of the price before the sale & raise that with the manager for the item(s) you want. Kick up enough fuss, mention FT & the ACCC, whatever works for you; but stand your ground and you'll get the real discount. :)

      • interesting. definitely worth a try if a jb is nearby..

  • Are there any notable boxsets you guys can recommend? There used to be a tarantino bluray collection, but I haven't seen it at JB for quite a few months now.

  • That is awesome for DSLR cameras. I really want a new canon one. Am still thinking about it.

    • +1

      650D for your? :-)
Pity 70D or Panasonic pz200 are still not out yet.

      • That would be ace. I still have a nikon one that works great. I have until Wednesday to think about it lol :)

  • +1

    A 60D body is current $855.

I am guess it would not drop by 15% from that….but I don't have the original price to calculate if the 15% discount would be lower than that or not.

    • A 60D body is current $855.
I am guess it would not drop by 15% from that….

      Why not?

Edit: BTW it's only $759 @ DWI. It's being superceeded by 70D, so expect price to drop very sharply… :-)

    • The DWI ones are grey imports.

Canon do not have international warranties on bodies from what I have read, only lens.

Whilst I take your point about the price differential, I am also cognisant that there are differences.

      • +1

Canon do not have international warranties on anything. They stopped international warranties on lenses 1.5yrs ago.

  • Any chance you could get jb to price match and then provide the discount ontop?

    • no, percentage is off the ticketed price (be it catalogue or rrp).

  • I presume the 15% Computers excludes Apple macs?

    • yes, 15% off computers always excludes Sony and Apple hence the inclusion of 10% off both.

    • The first sale listed is 10% of macs…

  • …or grab a Samsung Galaxy 7" for the cheapest (reputable) price I could find ($287) then bargain down to $279.

    • 3g or wifi version?

      • wifi

  • Lay-by'd a 650D for $899, haggled down from $945. Wonder I can re layby with discount off the $945, might have to pay $20 cancellation fee. To save $70

  • +1

does this include the AV receivers (for yamaha)?

  • -2

lame just purchased the underworld trilogy yesterday for 55, anyway i can still get the discount?

    • Return & re-buy??? :-)

  • Do you need a special invite to attend one these sales or can anyone go?

    • +1

      Of course not silly :)

  • Looks like I am a very distant relo or friends as I have only received the invitation 30 mins ago.

    • +9

maybe they just remembered that your wallet is related to their cash register.

  • +1

    thanx for posting ;)

bummer that the Soniq tvs arent included I was looking to pick up a 32"… saw the sale, got excited then saw the exclusion

  • Just thought I'd login to share my 2 cents, given a lot of comments saying the prices rise to account for the discount.
As a JB employee for 2 years now, I can say definitively; this isn't true at all. I have not seen this happen once.

    • +8

As a JB customer for much more than 2 years, I can say definitively that it does happen. It's nice to hear that your store might not engage in this practice; but don't go making sweeping statements on behalf of the organisation that contradict real-life experience in many stores because it most certainly does occur, and has been reported many times here & on WP.

I've had first hand experience of it myself during a 15% off TVs weekend sale. I'd scouted a $1591 TV on Friday, then miraculously it's $1891 by Saturday sale time! The halfwits even forgot that it was in their current catalogue for the lower price.

Needless to say, when pressed on the matter all it took was one mention to the manager of this going to FT & the ACCC to make it a ~$1350 TV for me. :)

      • You should of reported it once your car was loaded. Thats real dirty!

  • Am looking at buying a TV too. My TV being taken in for repair and i need a small one to replace that temporarily. Any recommendations.

    • Yeah - don;t be such a consumer and go without a TV for a few days…

  • Shame the PS3's are not $228.

    • If only. I've been on the look out for a relatively cheap priced PS3 since the Big W bundle. I just had a look on the JB website - they've already got it advertised for $248 online sales?

      • Not for everything yet, I wrote down some bluray prices on Monday they're still the same price now

        • Do they still have B1G1F Blu-rays?

        • No so far as I can tell the only other special is the Buy 2 get 1 free TV series. There are some blus included in that though. And the 20% off sale has started on the TV series already :)

Now applied to all discs so far as I can tell :)

        • Edit - Blu-ray prices on TV series have been reduced now. :)

  • LG 55LM7600 vs 55LM8600 which is better, besides widi on the 8600 and faster app response from dualcore.. hmmm tossing up between the two. only $200 difference probably too much thinking for that saving..

  • When I worked for JB, I can honestly say I've never seen any actual price hikes happen on the sale day but as a customer, I know they've done some dodgy acts. Then again I worked in games so I'm not sure what happens in other departments.

  • -5

Seems like some people expect a "Sale" on top of another "Sale"! LOL…
It is so logical and normal for busines to readjust the prices after one "Sale" ends and get ready for the next "Sale".

Don't understand how some people think the "20% off Sale" should be applicable to the "Sale prices" from a previous Sale! And jumping up & down screaming "ACCC!" may get you what you want but it's because they just want to get rid off you and move on. C'mon people…

Unless otherwise stated, readjusting prices of "Sale items" before another Sale is common and normal practice.

BTW, I do expect a few "-ve" for my comment…

    • +1

What you don't get is that JB have form for doing sales on top of sales. :)

      • As i said - Unless otherwise stated… It is NOT compulsory. Same as DJ, Myers, HN etc… there are exclusions, t&c for every Sale.

        • You're still not getting the whole shonky nested sales thing that JB does!

You can't have a %off sale on top of current advertised prices for the same products & then adjust the price to some arbitrary figure just for the period of the sale, only to have it revert to the cattledog price immediately thereafter…that's actually against the law, whether you think it's common practice or not!

It's also why they cave immediately when you catch them out, because they know they're pulling a swifty on suckers!!!

        • -1

You could do JB a favour and not shop there anymore.

They are a business not a public service for you to intimidate and squeeze out their margins on threats.

        • They are a business not a public service for you to intimidate and squeeze out their margins on threats.

Jeez dude, Boo-hoo much? I was kinda wondering why everytime I leave the store I hear the waaaambulance! :p

        • "dude"- you're the one crying to Managers, this forum, FT, the ACCC about not getting a few dollars off a TV. (which you did anyway…lol)

          Irony much? :p

        • I get the discounts dude; pray tell, what do you get by being so sanctimonious???

        • Lol… waaambulance? and im the one being derogatory?

Im not going to continue chat pwning you- this thread is hidden. Next time though-

        • Hidden…WTF??? Like it's hard to find…apparently easier for you to find than the correct meaning of 'sanctimonious' though, eh? No probs, take your bat & ball and go home then! :p

          Next time though-

Oh yeah, I eagerly await the banal future trolling…I shall consider myself truly pwnd! :D

so…$300 is a few dolllars? sorry to chat pwn you

and I evened out those petty -/ve too xd

        • Cheers Tal, yeah even though I'd fight tooth & nail for just $30 in that situation…for $300 of my money the gloves really come off!

The funniest part of that particular Saturday was that the cattledog had a big logo on the TV I wanted saying words to the effect of "New Model - Just arrived" - when they tried to argue $1891 was the normal selling price they were just digging the hole deeper for themselves! :D

I'm not sure what motivated wbeer's little tirade, I was under the impression that we were here to help each other get bargains, not talk ourselves out of them! :)

  • +1

Oh Heads up!!! It's already been applied to the Buy 2 get one free TV Series Last week the 1st 3 Friday night DVDs were $39.96 total now their $31.96, $10.65 a season total bargain :)
    Weeds S1-6 $51.12

    • Booo! I paid $79.95 few weeks ago, now its $16 cheaper! to get weeds seasons 1 - 6 on bluray =(

      TOTAL $63.92

      • Yeah damn it! I paid $79 for it a few weeks ago and thought it was a steal! Luckily I didn't buy Breaking Bad so I guess this is my chance :)

        • Dammit! lol I bought breaking bad also ;P

  • Errk if the % discount is already applied on the website then just average prices.. well for tv's that is.

  • Nice, sale is live online. Just ordered a Samsung 64" for $1700. Last month best price from jbhifi was $2300, cable connection $2180, so a genuine deal on this one today I think!

  • Its becoming a normal for JB to jack up prices beforehand then put up 20% off blah blah blah, then you end up with the same price as regular visits….

    • Yep, it's also becoming normal for pussies to neg you for raising the issue…fixed! :)

      • +1

haha I see someone already neg you.

People really need to open their eyes, and go take a photo for the item prices beforehand

  • +1

Yep was planning on getting a new LG 55 TV but errk with the already live prices online.. same as other places except probably free delivery.. sigh Just went at lunch time and the store price is higher and fits in perfectly with the online price when % factored in.. damn! I want sale on sale :)

  • The Sennheiser 280pro headphones have magically dissapeared from their website in the last 3-4 hours. Sigh.
-edit- I think they've having trouble with the Sennheiser stuff? it seems to be missing from some catagories now etc and prices are different on the item page than they are on the main page.

  • I made the mistake of not checking prices before today so I can't tell if the CDs are already discounted 20%. The one I'm looking at says 'On Sale Now', but I can't tell if that's the 20% off or a random sale. [yes, I could wait two hours to see, but I'm impatient].

    • +2

20% is already coming off all the CDs the $9.99 Sale CDs are now showing $7.99. Don't forget Pre-Orders don't count

      • Oh no I really wanted to pre-order the Chuck and Smallville TV series

  • Blu rays not working.
    A joke.
