Seems the 2200 processor is a 2.2ghz pentium d.

Gravatar

scubacoles on 10/11/2008 - 09:11 ¶

It’s not a Pentium D
It’s a Core based processor, it’s a low level Core2Duo that Intel don’t want to cheapen the Core2 brand with..

As I understand it anyway

It’s new right? Dell don’t sell refurb stuff?

Gravatar

dansor on 10/11/2008 - 08:48 ¶

it’s definitely new. if you go to http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=au&cs=a... a slighly worse config goes for $799.

Gravatar

itsross on 10/11/2008 - 08:56 ¶

Well I just ordered one, and paid the extra for the 20” monitor.

Not sure if they’ll actually complete the order tho lol

Thanks dansor!

edit: are they likely to check that i am in fact a business?

Gravatar

RockDJ on 10/11/2008 - 08:58 ¶

Ditto here.

If they check, just say you’re a sole trader and you are the business. Might work…

Gravatar

dansor on 10/11/2008 - 08:59 ¶

they never check if you are a business

pw2002au on 10/11/2008 - 09:02 ¶

Cheers - just ordered 2 and likewise did the upgrade to the 20” - With the family and friends PCs packing up recently it works out cheaper to by new than even try to rebuild the old machines.

Thanks for a great bargain

Gravatar

excite on 10/11/2008 - 09:34 ¶

Just ordered one with upgrade to 20”, use coupon HK$7SKXL4F?932 for additional 5% discount, the final price came out to be $374.49. Great deal!

Gravatar

theguru1 on 10/11/2008 - 09:35 ¶

Is it worth upgrading to the Video Card rather than stick with the onboard plus is the standard OS ok for a business computer?

Gravatar

pw2002au on 10/11/2008 - 09:42 ¶

Leave the video card an buy from elsewhere (MSY / Shopping Square) - likewise for ram etc. Standard OS is fine if you dont want too many features.

Gravatar

excite on 10/11/2008 - 09:44 ¶

The price for video card from DELL is not good, I bought the ATI 3450 video card at MSY for about $40 last month.

Gravatar

gavintan on 10/11/2008 - 09:38 ¶

This will be an excellent Media Center Home Theatre PC

Gravatar

totomvn on 10/11/2008 - 09:45 ¶

Just ordered one with the 20” monitor upgrade as well. This is so far the cheapest system I have ever seen.

Gravatar

They haven’t charged my credit card yet. Don’t think this will end up going through.

Gravatar

ih8parties on 10/11/2008 - 10:28 ¶

Excellent deal. Is this for real or likely to be a mistake? How long is it valid for?

A 19” LCD monitor alone is nearly $200, so essentially you are getting a PC for only $150!

Gravatar

kingwang on 10/11/2008 - 10:36 ¶

The motherboard is an Intel G45 chipset, so its pretty new and supports a lot of the future stuff

Gravatar

I’ve ordered one too. Excellent deal.

4GB (2X2GB) NECC Dual Channel DDR2 800MHz SDRAM Memory [add $244.20]

LAWL $244 for extra 2gb, less than $40 at msy

Gravatar

scubacoles on 10/11/2008 - 11:07 ¶

I’m hoping there’s more than 2 RAM slots.. Cause I’m hoping to transplant RAM for 4Gb..
If not, the MSY price for that extra 2Gb is more than $40 too (cause you’ll have to buy 2x2Gb)

Gravatar

quackster on 10/11/2008 - 11:06 ¶

just out of curiosity, can this be used with the moneybackco 3% cashback?

Gravatar

dansor on 10/11/2008 - 11:07 ¶

you can try it…

Gravatar

scubacoles on 10/11/2008 - 11:08 ¶

I tried it.. wont find out for ages though I assume.
Will only work out to $12 so not much gained (or lost)

Gravatar

Blinda on 11/11/2008 - 08:08 ¶

I got the 3% cash back…. Didn’t try to tho, as it’s hard to find the link.
Somehow I got the email from MBC this morning…. Harhar

another $11.23. Nice

Gravatar

scubacoles on 13/11/2008 - 11:04 ¶

So despite not buying anything you still got cashback!!
:-)
Free money from Dell.. Nice..
Should have specced out the system to the max increase it’s price!!

Just checked my MBC account and nothing..
I haven’t had any form of email contact either, nor a phone call… it’s like Dell never got my order in the first place!!
Even less happy now :-(

Gravatar

zn7726 on 10/11/2008 - 11:12 ¶

Does it come with DVI and digital sound output? I need a budget HTPC!!!

Gravatar

scubacoles on 10/11/2008 - 11:53 ¶

No mention of Digital Audio Out, but DVI is standard these days. Doubt it has HDMI out either.
I will be using mine as a HTPC, with a proper graphics card (with HDMI) and a USB Digital Audio out box.. but I own both already..

Gravatar

zn7726 on 10/11/2008 - 11:57 ¶

Don’t think onboard has DVI. Saw a back panel view from Dell’s website for 220S.
But you can easily get one by insert a low profile 2400pro which is about $25 from MSY
No digital audio output as well. need to buy audio card.

Gravatar

scubacoles on 10/11/2008 - 12:30 ¶

Interesting.. but doesn’t bother me, like I said, I’ll be transferring across a discreet Video card anyway..

Gravatar

Co-ask

Gravatar

T Man on 10/11/2008 - 11:15 ¶

i would recommend upgrading the monitor to 20’ to get a DVI input for only 20 bucks or so,

Gravatar

cyssero on 10/11/2008 - 11:54 ¶

Just bought one too, upgraded to 20”. Have absolutely no need for another PC but how can you resist an offer like this. Hope it actually comes through :)

One thing to note is that it only has Windows Vista Home Basic and not Home Premium which means you miss out on goodies like Vista Media Centre - a must if you plan to use it as a HTPC. You will need to buy a Home Premium license and a MCE remote too (about $50).

EDIT: Wow, I must have just gotten in with seconds to spare. Will they actually fulfil the order? Hmm…

Gravatar

itsross on 10/11/2008 - 11:55 ¶

Same, and I ordered 4 hours ago.

Last time I ordered from Dell it took 11 hours to confirm, so we could still be in luck.

Gravatar

pw2002au on 10/11/2008 - 12:41 ¶

Last time I purchased the 24” monitor it took nearly 36 hours to be processed to ‘order status’. So we still have hope

I didn’t have time to order, it’s finished in the afternoon…..too late

Gravatar

davodinkum on 10/11/2008 - 13:56 ¶

i work for dell and sorry to burst your bubble guys but….

“MISTAKES: While all efforts are made to check pricing and other errors, inadvertent errors do occur from time to time and Dell reserves the right to decline orders arising from such errors. “

will be on most pages at the bottom of the dell website. so its most likely they will cancel all orders unfortunatly because i ordered one for myself… :( the only way they will be processed is if dell waive it and let the orders go through fingers crossed but i highly doubt it…

was a great deal though… had many people enquire about it

Gravatar

jaymo on 10/11/2008 - 13:59 ¶

awww booooooo! but thanks for telling us, oh well i guess prob have to build my own now

Gravatar

Blinda on 10/11/2008 - 14:03 ¶

Love woolies
Apparently, Dell run business differently.Sigh

Dell will not be responsible for typographical, pricing or other errors and reserves the right not to process orders based on such errors. Dell reserves the right not to process orders for any other reasonable reason as otherwise determined by Dell.

Gravatar

theguru1 on 10/11/2008 - 14:12 ¶

From what I have seen Dell seem to allow quite a few of these mistakes. Late comers due seem to have orders cancelled though.

Good luck tho those that got it (hoprefully). I had one saved i na cart, but this seems to have been delted.

Gravatar

xrnath on 10/11/2008 - 13:58 ¶

Looks like the offer maybe over..

Due to technical difficulties, we are unable to process your request at this time.

Gravatar

Foma2 on 10/11/2008 - 14:07 ¶

let’s see what’s going to happen but more and more often I can see that once there is a good deal (thanks to ozbargain), something happens that ruins it. The only thing I feel once such a deal falls through is a deep frustration. Hopefully, this one is real as Dell is a big and respectful company (I’ve bought a desktop and a PDA from them before). Nevertheless I voted for the deal, does not matter if it was a fake or real one by Dell, cause the findings itself is just wonderful.

Gravatar

jaymo on 10/11/2008 - 16:20 ¶

yeah thats wat looks like will happen

Gravatar

Foma2 on 10/11/2008 - 16:56 ¶

For me it would mean that I won’t have to worry about ANY Dell sales any more.
Why to bother ? If you see a good deal it will be cancelled, if it is not going to be cancelled it means that it was not a good one.

I still hope they’ll show some respects to the buyers and confirm the submitted deals.
They closed their offer once they realised that can’t probably sell their stuff at the advertised price. But it should be just like in any other store - you can change a price tag any time but it shouldn’t affect people who already purchased goods.

Gravatar

itsross on 10/11/2008 - 17:09 ¶

Fingers crossed. They should have emailed people by now if it was an error. I ordered 8 hours ago now, and they’ve known of the error for at least 4.
