Tips for anyone that plans on picking this up:

    • Replace the MicroSD Card that comes with the console with a reputable brand such as Samsung, Sandisk, etc
    • Highly recommend installing a custom OS, such as OnionOS
    • Personally recommended case: Amazon Basics My Passport Essential Case (cheaper alternative also available on Amazon)
    • Optional: Upgrade the speakers with Sony Xperia Z5 Compact/Redmi Note OEM Speakers (can be found on AliExpress: Number 8 or 5 Pack)

In-depth review by Retro Game Corps

    • +1

      Great tips!

    • +1

Make sure to research the speaker upgrade, there is a serial number to look out for that will help with purchasing the speaker part)

    • Would you recommend this overall yourself?

      • +1

Personally I would recommended it, but I don't really have any other handheld retro console to compare it with.

    • What size SD card do you recommend? - I plan on putting a lot of games on it

      • -1

around 256 is the best i think

      • +1

I've only tested up to 128GB, which is more than enough for me.

        • 256gb is working great in mine

    • Any tips to prevent the screen from falling off?

      • +1

If I recalled correctly, only the first few waves of Miyoo Mini Plus had the screen falling out issues.

Depending on how the screen falls out, you should be able to double-side tape it back in place if the screen is still intact. If the layers has split apart, I would contact the seller for a replacement unit/screen.

    • if someone can wait, i think this case also fit. about aud5

    • Highly recommend installing a custom OS, such as OnionOS

Another alternative to Onion is DotUI. And you might wanna get MiniUI's extra Extras … A simple launcher as opposed the fully featured onion.

    • Hey mate any chance you can point me to the exact os i need for this. I click on the onion os page you linked but every verions i can see says that they aren't compatible with the miyoo mini plus.

      • get the 4.2 beta

        • It's back on … latest V4.2.0 14e1c48

They took it down again for more fixes lol

Tried briefly, so far so good. Bugs gone. All good except activity tracker…

      • +3

There's a bug on wifi settings menu, they're on it

I suggest patience, but if you're really keen….

The last "stable" version was beta 3. Install that one first, put roms and bios files (consult Onion wiki, for games try Apotris), play, setup wifi, then update OTA when the above is ready….

    • How about a battery upgrade?

      • +1

There's no room for upgrade, 3000mAh for up to PS1 stuff is a lot already. The battery is tightly fit because miyoo wrapped it around with a label.

        (It's 103665 with 1.25mm JST connector, btw)

The battery door on my first mm+ couldn't sit flush because of the label, so I carefully peeled it off. Neither my second plus nor my mini V2s have that problem.

    • Do these handheld emulation machines support run ahead?

    • Very nice tips right here, I probably would have gone the My Passport case but too impatient and went with the J Burrows case from Officeworks, for my RG35xx

Tempted to buy a Miyoo Mini Plus to have one of each though!

  • +3

hm i have ps vita coming soon, i have modded 3ds and switch.. should i get this ?

    • +25

      As your financial advisor…yes!

    • +1

Do you have a retroid Pocket 3 plus?

      • +1

        no. just that.
        3ds, switch, vita. all modded
        and surface pro 5

    • +1

It really depends on who you are. I would if I were you, because SNES games etc are gonna run/look better on the Miyoo. The Miyoo is also pretty cool to just chuck in a bag and go - there's not so much worry if it gets lost/broken (in my.opinion).

    • +5

Nope, the Vita with Retroarch is all you need.

I’ve got a similar Ambernic but would have gone for a Vita if they weren’t so expensive (and lottery on condition).

      • ooh you have the 35xx ? yeah similar except this miyo has wifi.
hmm ok you may have saved me $77 lol

yup the vita expensive lucky got it for 150 (the slim) very good condition. local stock

        • I’ve got the RG351V which has built in Wifi.

I use the wifi to sync saves to my NAS, which then sync to my Xbox Series X running RetroArch too.

          • @PainToad: RG351V is that much more powerful than 35xx ? hmm wow i have NAS too so i can keep all the rom inside NAS and play from it direct? or we can transfer roms from nas to the console wireless, but they need to be copied over before we can play?

      • Sounds like I should not sell my vita a few years ago which was in a perfect condition.

        • +1

Few months ago here in Adelaide someone decided to sell their BRAND NEW NEVER OPENED PSVITA 1000 Model and I missed it! Saw the deal on Facebook but hesitated for about 10mins…… This is by far the most regrettable decision I have ever done!

And it was priced at $300 ONLY :(

Edit: I own a PSV 1000 so that one was more of a collectible, considering the sealed in box condition, it was really cheap.

      • +2

I have a vita with retroarch as well. Not as good as the miyoo mini and also worth more if it breaks!!!!

        • +1

Same. I never use the Vita for retroarch though - my Anbernic does the job better. 4:3 screen on the Anbernic looks awesome. It's similar in spec to the Miyoo. I'd rather play those kinds of games without the black bars.

      • Vita doesnt emulate a ton of stuff well, but brilliant for PS1 games and some older content.(I have one)

    • +2

I have a Vita (OLED model) and a modded 3DS.
These days, I only actually finish games on the Miyoo Mini Plus.
Can't beat the form factor and instant-on / save states, etc.

  • +1

    What’s the regular price?

    • +2

~A$100 directly from the Official Miyoo AliExpress store.

Perfect timing to play the new McDonald’s GameBoy game.

Bought this recently, was just playing with it now on the train home after work. Keeps me entertained.

      i guess…. 10

(thats because we only have 10 fingers)

      • +4

        Look at your feet!

        • +1

Looks at feet …Is that a fungal infection…?

          • +1

@Forfiet: i see a red mushroom there! and i get bigger once i eat it

    • Depends if you remember to charge them all so the batteries don't drop to 0% and begin degrading. Honestly wouldn't sell my handhelds if I didn't have to worry about this. Had to replace a puffed up battery from my vita earlier this year.

      • +1

damn my 3ds often goes to flat

      • I bought a vita specifically when p4: golden came out years ago, put 100+ hours into it, finished it twice (skipped everything on fast forward mode 2nd time) and then Never touched it again… dreading to check how the battery is 🥲

        • +3

I regularly let my Vita go proper dead after I charge it, play it for a bit, and then forget about it for 6 months. It's 9 years old now and I just fired it up last night actually, after 6months or so. Seems fine still!

          • +1

            @Orion au: As Orion said.

I've had numerous Vitas since 2013, all but my current one have failed on me bar the current one, and even that one's touch screen is finnicky at the best of times…but the batteries in those (profanity) are stellar. Holds charge like nothing else.

            • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Surely nothing can beat the OG Nintendo ds Battery wise. Truly, a battery crafted BY THE GODS.

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Never had the phatboi, had the Lite, i, and for a little bit iXL, but never the phatboi. But you're not wrong, DS, and even the 2/3DS, have pretty good batts, guess the mid '00s to mid '10s was peak portable game battery. Nowadays, a couple years back I sold my launch Switch and got a Switch Lite for, among a couple other things, that precious extra hour or so of battery.

I would apply the rule from cycling and bike ownership: n+1

      • You forgot sneakers.

  • I recently bought one from an ebay seller with similar product description and the seller said the 64G card is not included. Please confirm before you purchase.

    • +4

doesnt really matter read the first comment, when they arrive chuck the card to the bin

    • Same, no card with mine. Just chucked in a samsung 256gb and installed onion.

    • In the description it says it’s included

  • +12

Also look up tiny best rom set GO to kickstart your game collection

  • Already have a Miyoo Mini. Considering this just for the Wifi.

    • whats the benefit of the wifi?

      • +1

        Wireless network/internet

    • +2

The Wi-Fi is useful for Retro Achievements, Multiplayer and OTA Update.

      • And scraping box art!
I hope down the track they add the ability to add games over the air.

  • correction, the cheapest is white (but just few cents diff. doesnt matter)

  • +1

I bought from this seller about 2 weeks ago. Arrived within a couple of days.
Can confirm it didnt come with the SD card and it was a bit of a pain to find those files online to make my own.
Still a great buy but just be aware before buying

    • "" a bit of a pain to find those files online to make my own." you should have shared the deal and ask help from ozb guru, example impoze or richardL

    • -1

Ask for a refund of some $$$$ I reckon.

    • "it was a bit of a pain to find those files online to make my own." —> Can you please elaborate on this? What do we need to do exactly when it comes?

      • Same, but a bit of google work will get you there if you are even a little bit techie.

  • I want it but I don't need it!!! I've got Retroid 2 plus which has the same screen size.

    • sure this one better than ret2 ?

    • Would skip if you have rp2+ and go next level up with a steamdeck or ally

  • Any recommendations for one of these handhelds that also does video out?

    • +3

The Anbernic RG35XX does video out, but you lose the Wi-Fi (when compared to the Miyoo Mini Plus).

  • +1

Anyone know of any good Amiga rom sets? Really want sensible world of soccer.

    • meh, the only soccer game I cared for is Soccer Kid…..

      • +4

You missed out, Sensible Soccer was the best.

        • I stil play that to this day, as well as Microprose Soccer on the c64

      • Thanks will give this a go.

      • I have that one but it doesn't include any Amiga games.

    • Been playing Sensible Soccer on the megadrive emulator if that helps.

      • Ok thanks, will see if I can find that one if I can't get it on the Amiga.

  • I love the idea of one of these, but I’ve always been a pc gamer. Reckon you could get dosbox running on one of these?

    • +1

Theres a few videos on it

    • +1

      Yes

  • Cheapest SD Cards at the moment are the Patriot microsd from Amazon.
