QUOTE "Add an International Calling Pack to an eligible HomeLine Plan: $10 per month for orders until 18th Feb 2013, offering unlimited calling to home phones in 32 countries and mobile numbers in 14 countries"

I just disconnected my Telstra home phone early this month after paying for it for many years with no real reason. The only reason for me to have Telstra line was to get TPG ADSL internet on it. Hardly used that phone to make any calls. Then I moved to Ace Communication this month.
If they offered this with few more countries included this would have been a good reason to stay with Telstra. Still this is a good deal if you have relatives in these countries.

I remember vodaphone did this kind of deal a few years ago but had to stop the plan after they got raped by all the international students who literally used it for over 20 hours a day. How, you ask? They would speak to all their friends and family back home for 5 or 6 hours straight then pass it on to the next roommate! telstra is a lot bigger company in Australia so I have no idea how long they would be able to sustain it for but I doubt it'll be for very long. I'm surprised they didn't learn from vodaphone's mistakes, or maybe they have, idk, either way this is great news for people with lived ones overseas.
+3 votesFree fixed line calls to the following 32 countries. Free fixed line calls and mobile calls to the 14 countries with (both) after their name.

pembajak_sejati on 29/11/2012 - 08:13 ¶indonesia telkom just heavily monopolized Telstra can't do much about it

thechengman on 28/11/2012 - 21:21 ¶Damn you Telstra, I just renewed a 2 year contract with HKBN 2B and you come up with this?
lang_tu_syd on 28/11/2012 - 23:34 ¶Pity i'm on TPG bundle, can't take up this offer, anyone know the cheapest way to call to Vietnam at the moment?
ylangylang55 on 29/11/2012 - 09:02 ¶buy the international phone card or stick to the unlimited plan

Yep, you're not specifically excluded. Why Homeline Part (never heard of it before now) at around $35 a month is, but Budget isn't I'm not sure. I'm sure they'll wake up to this, though, and possibly change that.
I absolutely HATE that I have to pay Telstra for a homeline that I don't want or use (can't get naked adsl,) But if I had anyone overseas that I'd be likely to call, this would be a fairly reasonable sweetener.
+1 voteIt really is a bit sh*tty (and typical) of Telstra to be offering deals like this (to sucker into a contract those who are not already with them) for unlimited calling overseas, while they keep increasing the basic cost of a landline though. They've risen 25% for us in the last 12 months alone.
supabrudda on 29/11/2012 - 09:06 ¶Or if you have an internet connection,
Pennytel's $5/mth freedom plan gives you 150 calls to 80 countries (inc Aust landlines) then 8c/call after that…..
Also 7.8c/min to Oz Mobiles
50 free SMSs (via web)
A phone numberAlso they have free ANI callback,
So you can register up to 10 phones numbers,
you call a number, get a busy signal (so free) they call you back & allow you to dial out.
(spread the cheap call love to family & friends or even your mobile).
+2 votesThe quality is so so. This is total Telstra Landline quality, so it would be the best. Great for when CNY comes so you can call into China etc!
I guess it depends on what you currently have. If you have Telstra and make a lot of calling cards etc this is much better. Easier for old folks too!
zenzeninbox on 29/11/2012 - 09:31 ¶Anyone signed up and tried it yet? Wondering if the call quality is the same as normal ($$$$) Telstra international. I use iinet naked adsl with VoIP (the mrs calls Malaysia/Belgium a lot). The call quality has been getting worse the last year or so almost un usable. Heck sometime calling companies add my VoIP to their VoIP plus some sound leveling drop outs and it's worse than 2 cans on a string.

-1 voteliquidator001 on 29/11/2012 - 19:42 ¶I signed in the shop,they said i can use after 30 minutes.

Had a long talk with Telstra
to get the "deal", you would need to signup to a special landline phone plan of $50 a month
only then will you be eligible for the $10 add-on deal.
so that would cost you $60 a month.
and this doesn't include local calls
(I was shocked and disappointed)in comparision, If I signup to TPG unlimited internet (line rental included) for $60 a month. I won't use my landline to make call but instead signup to pennytel for $5 a month. I will have 150 included calls, untimed to about 40 countries (including Australia)
Now if I make 120 calls in Australia and 30 calls oversea per month, then I'm good.
the countries listed on Pennytel has all the countries I need.so to me, this Telstra Deal sux.
I won't neg this since it may suits some other people.

Not sure about that. I have Homeline Budget, and they added the pack for me a few days ago. I called back and they confirmed again that I have subscribed to the International Calling Pack.
Is your homeline already with Telstra? If not it may be the reason they have additional conditions?

I called up and asked and you can have this $10 calling pack on the T Bundle Everyday Freestyler bundle ($90). You are not allowed to have it on the Everday Advantage bundle ($100). So basically both work out to $100 per month but you need to choose whether you want unlimited local calls and calls to telstra mobiles (advantage plan) or if you want free calls to international land lines but not local calls in Aus (Freestyler + $10 calling pack)

no calls to mobiles in other countries
