If it's a fake, it gets a neg vote from me.

    Quoted from myself

2 burgers for the price of 1 at Hungry Jacks

Just say you want a “2-4-1 XXX Burger”

Well, the story to this is apparently a few years ago, Hungry Jacks ran a promotion and forgot to specify an expiration date to the deal. This deal was accepted without the need to bring in a coupon. The theory is that instead of making an announcement that this is a mistake, they have decided to just let it run. Doesn’t work in food courts or shopping centres but should be accepted in all other Melbourne branches. Doesn’t work with cheeseburgers but does with Whopper, Whopper with cheese, Double Whopper, Bacon Deluxe, Baguettes, Aussie Burger, and Grilled Chicken.

It is specifically confirmed at the following:
Chapel st/malvern rd, Swanston St, Hoddle st, Nepean Hwy, Camberwell, Russell St/Bourke st, Bulleen Plaza, Kings Way, Elgar rd/Burwood Hwy,Whitehorse Rd, Southern Cross station, RMIT, Keysborough, Parkmore, Noble Park.

Have tried this a few times at different locations. Always works.

Hey - that's a great tip. So if I want a whopper with cheese and I say something like:

I want a "2-4-1 Whopper With Cheese" I will get a free Whopper with Cheese if I pay for the first one - is that how it works?

      • +1

Yep, doesn't have to be worded any special way. Just mention the 2 for 1 deal. There's a button on the register.

        • I have never been able to get it from southern cross station (I've tried a couple of times) but I can vouch for everything else neil has said.

    • Ive been into hungrys and asked for 2 whoppers and then they charge me $4 (or however much a whopper is). Didnt need to mention a deal.

  • +1

i dont think u actually buy 1 burger get 1 free when u ask for it. whenever i have tried ive payed like $5 or so when i use the buy 1 get 1 free of any burger. usually a standard burger on its own is like $4.50 roughly

    • +1

So Buy 1 Get 1 90% off? Maybe the location you went had something dodgy programmed into the register?

    • +1

I take that back, you are right. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=753569&r=…

      Still not too bad.

    • That is because they charge you cheese on both burgers. If you order without cheese it should be 100% free

Anyone worked in HJ before to confirm this?

seems to be some posts from about a year ago scattered around the web, such as this:

I just googled 'hungry jacks 2 for 1'

anyone know how to get the real vouchers?

  • +1

i used to do the 2 for 1 all the time back in the day, but it seems almost all stores will refuse to do this since about 6 months ago. If you're lucky, you might get away with it depending on who serves you, but it seems it no longer works, as they say you can only do it with a voucher. I argued with several managers about it, and they said they got a memo from head office saying not to do it anymore. Would love to know if anyone has pulled it off recently.

haha whoever faked this one up must be having a good laugh to themselves.

  • +1

What? It's a fake. I just used it at Sunnybank Plaza, Brisbane, Queensland. LOL

    • +2

That's it! From now on every time I go shopping I'm going to photoshop up some vouchers for whatever I need a discount on, then go up to the dopiest lookin 15 year old in the store and ask them to serve me.

      WIN!

    • ROFL. I'm voting this up for providing entertainment value.

  • Let us see who is gutsy enough to try 2 for 1 first :-)

  • Jeez there is so much confusion about this deal!!!

    IT IS 100% REAL!!!!

…but only at hungry jack stores in victoria which aren't franchises. I have used it many times at both swanston st stores (near flinders & cnr of latrobe), also at camberwell, craigiburn, dandenong, and toorak (chapel st). It doesn't work at the southern cross station store (near telstra dome) and at shepparton (country victoria).

As you can probably tell I'm kinda obsessed with this deal, every time I go there I get it. 3am trips from melb uni to the 24hr on swanston when your drunk after a night on the town are great!!!.

Just ask for a 2 for 1 whopper deal. they'll ask if you want cheese, the catch is that if you get cheese they charge you extra on both burgers, this is where people are getting the idea that the second is only 90% free. If you order without cheese it is 100% free (but IMO tastes much worse).

If they don't honor you asking for it you can often ask for them to get the manager, but its not normally worth pushing for it if the manager refuses (you've probably hit upon a dreaded franchise store)

    • The coupon doesn't specify location, but obviously the store must have both the "new" and "old" flame chicken burgers on the menu for it to work.

If a particular store refuses to accept the coupon, just insist (be firm but polite), they will give it to you. The shift managers can easily be handled.

  • I have a KFC VIP card which entitles free up size or 10% off, funny thing is that many store managers haven't seen it before and don't know what to key in. So they either just give me the bigger drinks and chips or use the staff discount.

Some stores don't want to honour it, the solution is to ask for the manager then stare at his/her name tag and indicate the intention to escalate, they normally give in to avoid further dramas.

    • where can you get KFC VIP card? and how?

      • The short version is someone gave it to me. Apparently they are harder to come by than Mccas VIP cards.

        • Maccas VIP cards are the easiest things to get! Just ask the manager for one and they'll give you 'em.

I have one but never pull it out, just say "I'd like a free sundae with my large meal" and you'll get it no problems.

    • I had one but it expired 31 Dec 2008.
I didn't know they reissued them. Are you sure yours isnt expired?

      • Indeed! Mine also expired on 31/12/2008. Shows I haven't been to KFC for awhile which is a good thing I guess. And now one more reason not to go.

omg do you guys really eat that much fast food?

  • haha at zhenjie's comment, i'm giving you a +1 for that
not that i can talk i guess, had HJ yesterday :D

Guys, i have a mcdonalds one card for sale, in short it is a staff discount card where you display it to get 25% off everything, it expires november 2009, open to offers.

    • lmao, selling a one card!

      • whats wrong with that?

        • I used to work at McD's and it just seems ridiculous that someone is selling a One card. You need to put your photo on it too so that's some desperate measures for 20% off your food.

          • @cyssero: It has no photo on the back of it, also, i have never been asked for a photo.

    • yum. why staff card can be used if we are not staff ?

  • This is a special offer? I've been using it everytime I go to the hungry jacks near the state library in the city (in victoria). Done it about 3 times in the past couple of years, I just get two burgers and tell them I'd like to use the two for one deal. Twice, they did it with no problems. The third time, the guy said there's no such thing and that I had to pay for both burgers. tighta**, lol.

    • Tried it at this store recently ( 2 for 1 Whopper with cheese) and the guy charged me $6.20. I said I wanted the 'two for one' deal and he said that's the deal he is giving me. The 2 for 1 deal Whopper with cheese is $6.20…

Not complaining as it's still cheaper than paying for 2 Whopper with cheese :)

  • Some places it will still work, but i remember for about 2-3 years it worked in almost every store, no ACTUAL voucher required and it wasn't so much for the price of one, but you could get either 2 whoppers or 2 chicken ones or mix match between the two for only $5AUD, thats how i remember it and those days were so good, i was in there so much getting my mates burgers, $2.50 each for a 2 whoppers!!! best deal ever, and when they did their 99c cheebies! that was terrific, i really love hungry jacks, sure i enjoy the occasional quarter pounder…but when it really comes down to it, i'm hungries all the way
