    • +4

From tomorrow at 12pm-12am battlefield will be just $5 at the origin store or app.

  • +2

EA mystery deal? The only mystery with EA is been able to log on

    • BF3 use different servers to Sim City, even during the issues Sim City had i was having no issues at all with BF3.

      • +7

Tell that to everyone getting the "You have been disconnected from EA Servers" errors.
I got it 4 times last night alone. ;(

        • I don't get that on PC, find an aussie server and its perfect

    • +3

I thought your comment was funny.. Why all the hate :(

  • +1

is there much of an online community for vanilla bf3?
will probably buy for single player at least

    • +3

yes the original maps and the Karkand ones I would judge as being the most popular - and still some of the best IMHO

    • +3

It seems to me there is at least as much on an online community for vanilla BF3 as for all the rest of the DLC combined. For $5 it's a steal…and getting a bargain from EA has to be 10x as good, right?

  • I might finally pick it up for LAN parties.

    • +3

      BF3… LAN…

      Yeah good luck with that.

      • +1

Well generally everyone team stacks on an internet server. I've never played it though.

    • Hey watch out - got it a couple weeks ago for Coop but the connection is forced out the net even when you're on the same LAN - ie it's slow as balls. $5 though who cares.

  • -1

    Gosh… I paid $79 on JB Hifi when it was launch… now it's $5…

    • +71

…said everyone who ever bought a game at launch.

      • Wow c0balt, your post is close to beating the number of up votes for the game itself.

        Up vote :-D

      • "…said everyone ever bought a game at launch without first checking online"

        I Paid about $40 at launch. :)

  • Is this only available in the US or is it AU as well?

    • +3

The deal says it is from EA Australia.

  • +1

Now to find a cheap premium upgrade.

    • +1

Report back what you find. I can't find much of a "bargain" on it.

Apparently it does go on sale, so maybe they will drop it tomorrow while this is on to get a bunch of people purchasing at the same time.

    • +1

      EB games for $35

    • -2

You don't need it. It's quite crap.

      • +1

5 dlc's and extra weapons are crap?

        • +1

It's well worth it if you can get for less than the original RRP and like BF3 vanilla. Vanilla BF3 includes 9 maps. Premium DLCs brings it up to a very healthy 29.

  • +3

This is way too mysterious for me I'm afraid, plus I already own them all.

  • does this work on Mac?

    • +44

      Nothing does.

    • +1

      Bootcamp.

    • Only with fries….

  • +4

I do find it hilarious that not even a year ago, the head of Origin stated that they'll never compete with Steam on heavily discounting of games.. lol

    • +5

This is a typical case of saying one thing while (intentionally) doing another. You don't want people to think you will be doing such discounts because then they will never pay full price for a game. But you also want to use these discounts to boost sales later and keep player numbers up.

      Business as usual.

      • +2

I think they've just changed tact.. Give them a shell of a game, but keep any in-app purchases or DLC at a premium price point..

    • +1

"Without revealing too much, what I'll say is one way to deal with aging inventory is you do deep discounts like that."

Actually he is fine with the discount.

      • Games going by downloads do not have inventories. =.="

        • He meant to say that EA are milking an EOL game for it's last $$$s before BF4.

  • Sad PC only I already have it.

  • Main maps you could play on Battlefield with out dlc or Operation Metro and Caspian border. The rest arn't always populated.

  • -1

They need to get more people hooked on the franchise so that they'll shell out the real dollars for BF4 which is about to be released.

Also, be prepared for a lot of pain. BF3 has an upgrade/unlock system that gives experienced players big advantages, making it just about impossible for newbies to operate vehicles. And the only people left on BF3 servers are the extremely good players - the averages ones have all left.

I still reckon it's the best game out there, $5 is a steal.

  • I know it lists 12pm 19/4/2013 as the time/date for the sale start time, but is that US, UK or Aus time? If Aus time, what is that Sydney time?

    • +1

facebook group is ea games australia so i would assume AEST

    • Daylight saving is over btw

  • Bought. Worked really well. Thanks OP

  • thanks purchased…

  • Got it. Thx.

  • Thanks OP. Download at 92% and $2.50 Woolies pizza finished. Im so noob…

  • Not activated by steam?? !??

  • The deal is now live, paid for it, ty

  • This is SO clearly a desperate attempt to get people to install Origin on their computers, and unfortunately, i think it will work on a lot of people.
$5 for Battlefield 3 would be an AMAZING deal if useable on Steam…

  • wow. I missed it. did anyone grab a spare they can sell me?

  • -1

Not even midnight yet in Perth…
I guess I just saved myself $5 though; because I hate Origin
