    1000 can be modded. I don't think the 3000 can.

      ALL PSP can be modded.

      1000 can be perm-modded, ie. once done, it's done.

      1000 can be modded but after each shutdown (not sleep, ie battery dies), you must run an app directly on the PSP, honestly takes 2 seconds.

  Another application for a cheap device that includes Skype functionality:

  • Buy -two- of these & save $$$ on "Walkie-Talkies" for kids, et al.

  (They should be able to converse - cost-free - when both have WiFi feeds… Great way to reduce mobile phone bills, each month).

  Variation for Aboriginal communities (at home & overseas) or where ever home/office phones are few:

  • "Village Telco" (buy WiFi-based VoIP ATA's - "Meshed Potato" boxes for under $100 each - that use [mesh-networking over] WiFi to connect home phones; plug-in any cheap land-line phone to make -free- calls in the village/community/company)
