      without actually being there I can't say for sure, but this appears to be the last / latest 'slim' model AKA 3000 series which are pretty good.
      they're the latest of the good PS3s while the super slim / 5000 series (12gb and 500gb ones) are universally panned, the only reason they might be undesirable is that at the moment they cannot be JB compared some of the older slim PS3s.

      However there are still some places that have the JB-able PS3s around, you never know and might luck out.

          I'll rephrase it, PS3 3000s and 5000s (super slims) cannot be JBed. However some of the JB-able 2### series (not all 2### series are JB-able) are still around, it all comes down to luck as usually staff will not or do not know how to check.

      Yes - it's a great price. Prices have been coming down with new versions, and now this one is on clearance so hard to say what they 'normally retail for'. If you just want it to play some games and use it as a BluRay player (it's already built in) it's good.

      Also, if you don't have a PVR already you could also look at getting a PlayTV unit which allows you to watch and record TV programs onto your PS3 hard drive. It's very easy to use with on-screen menu. (About $65 delivered from http://www.ozgameshop.com/ps3-accessories/playtvwatch-pause-… - but currently out of stock. You may find cheaper elsehwere though)

      the super slims are universally panned for being inferior to the slims.
      off the top of my head some common complaints are much noisier disc drive, cheap build quality and questionable design and I think they pulled a couple of features out as well (although they've been doing that for a while now, earliest PS3s had much more stuff)

    Yeah, Slims are much nicer than super slims. Take any opportunity to get one. I miss my old dead slim.

    I'd rather a slim than a super slim. But by the time skylanders is sold on ebay, I reckon the super slim is better since it'll be much cheaper.

      No use - they haven't stocked the 320GB slim in over a year.

      And they couldn't even price match the 160GB slim they have with the $189.83 price of the 320GB despite the 160GB having obviously half the storage capacity.

    Im new too, but can confirm the 12gb is super slim and 320gb is slim.

    Mixed thoughts on which is better, and everyone has their opinions - They all have the same features, just USB connections are in the back for the super slim.

    I personally went the 12Gb one - as once i sell the game, this is a dirt cheap price for the console, and i can pop a large HDD in there for dirt cheap and still be under the 320gb Price

    Just grabbed a 320GB unit from Canberra Centre Target (last one in the glass display unit). The guy did say the system was showing they had one unit left out back (at around 1.30pm).

    I could see about 2 units of the 12GB super slim bundle on display.

    Discounted price tickets were not on display, but scans up at the discounted price.

    I got one of the last three 320GB consoles at my local Target. Thank you so much OP, such a good deal, especially for the superior model which is out of production and so hard to find new. I was planning to study for my final uni assignment today but this deal and some 3DS ones (got Kid Icarus for $8 and $25 for Star Fox 64 3D at Target too) has made this a good ozbargain day. :)

    That sucks. My old PS3 did about 2 months back and I rang around a thousand Dick Smiths (who had then sub $200) and checked every other place and ended biting the bullet and buying a refurbished PS3 slim from a local repair shop for $150.

        I rang target and they've put aside a 320 for me and rang jb asked them about a refund and they said to bring it in and it should be fine to return (mentioned the loud disc drive, I also have been having random audio drop outs)

        Hopefully all goes well and I'll have a a half decent ps3 tomorrow night
