Nokia Lumia 610 Telstra Locked $49.83

630

Found this deal via twitter from someone who works at Target. These were reduced at $99.95 but have been reduced to just under $50 this week.
Great deal for a cheap windows phone. Has fairly good reviews from what I can see. The store I went to didn't have it listed as that price but when scanned in it came up as the below $50 price.

If someone would like me to scan in a receipt for any price matches or verification I can.

Enjoy!

There were heaps of other good specials there today too so this may be one of many.

I got the last one 3 mins ago behind the window in Target CBD store in Adelaide…..

The screen is not that good….but still a good deal for just 50…..

    • haha, blast. I was half an hour too late :/
I went in and the woman at the counter told me the last one just walked out the door

EDIT:The Galaxy Ace is also on clearance at Target for the same price!
ReEdit: I just got the last one from Unley,SA :)

  • There are still a couple at Target Indooroopilly (Brisbane). None on display, I asked the sales guy, and he brought a few out. Grabbed one

  • There is still one at Capalaba Qld

  • I just checked the sar on this phone and its like using 4 x galaxy s at once

  • Hi folks don't buy telstra sim kit from Australia post cos it wouldn't work for unlocking it's only for ipad, just wasted 10 bucks and telstra rep. told me about this, so better form telstra shop they currently selling for $15..

    • Are you sure about this? I'm was under the impression its a standard $30 starter kit and you can choose to activate it however you want

  • Unlocked using $30 starter pack (cheap from Coles long ago).

Great hardware for $60, except only 256MB RAM, will not install a lot of apps, e.g. Angy Birds.
Seems to be no compass, contrary to what gsmarena says.

Sorry, after long chat all sorted out now, they have changed my ipad sim to encore plan mean to make a normal sim, also got $30 credit and has been used for getting code!! Happy days :)

    • Yeah same I was like wtf… But luckily got someone to sort it out and all was good. Bit of a headache for an hour this arvo because of it.

    • When did you buy the $10 starter kit?

I'm in adelaide and the post office said they had this $10 kit till the 21st of april. Its over now

      • Got it from Southgate plaza post office Morphett Vale today. She had a few out the back showed her in the catalogue and she went to find it.

      • Do you mind taking a photo of the catalogue?

It's not on their website and according to their copy of the catalogue its no longer on sale.

It's online now. Found it. It really is on sale. The store staff were just clueless. As usual.

  • Got one… gonna give it to the mum in law lol to replace her Nokia 6120. I don't know how she will cope :)

  • HELP Anyone?? I just activated the sim that came with the Nokia 610 phone. I immediately received an email from Telstra with my account details including PIN & PUK Codes.

Are these to unlock my phone to use on Optus/Voda etc?

This is from the email ->
PIN: 5514 this number unlocks your SIM
    PUK code: 58225514
Your phone will lock if you enter an incorrect PIN number 3 times in a row.
To unlock your phone, you'll need to enter your PUK code. Keep a record of this number for quick access if needed (but not in your phone!).

I tried the PIN with an expired Dodo sim but it didn't accept the pin (5514).

Any idea what the PIN & PUK Codes Telstra sent are for? Or what "this number unlocks your SIM" refers to.

    Thanks in advance, Lloyd

These are for the security of your Telstra SIM card.

Let's say I stole your new Lumia 610 but you activated Windows Phone security feature to lock up the mobile, so your mobile is useless to me. But I can rip out your Telstra SIM card, put it into my mobile, and use your credits before you get a chance to ask Telstra to block your account. To stop me using your credits, you can protect your SIM card with PIN security. Mobile phone security and SIM card security are two independent systems.

The universal default PIN is supposed to be 0000, but Telstra is telling you that "No, your default PIN is 5514." You need this PIN to activate/deactivate SIM card security, to choose a new PIN, and to unlock the SIM card (if you have activated PIN security).

The e-mail is misleading. It should read "Your SIM card will lock if you enter an incorrect PIN 3 times in a row. To unlock your SIM card, you'll need to enter your PUK code."

      • I didn't know any of this. Thanks for the clear explanation. +1

  • for those struggling to update to 7.8 via zune, this link contains what I used to update to 7.8: http://www.wpcentral.com/tool-make-installing-windows-phone-…

after nearly a day of using this phone, I'm bored of it already. No match for my N9, just thought I'd give it a go.

    • Just used this tool to upgrade 610, 20 minutes and all done, from 8779 to 8860. Zune was just stating phone is up to date earlier, after using the tool zune update to 8862. Not a huge difference, actually feels a bit slower. But yeah, I do agree, great for the price but no match for my 64GB N9. Then again it cost me $500… Hopefully sailfish will be available soon for it, ported or not.

  • So only target ?

  • I was thinking of calling Telstra to get my phone unlocked I bought yesterday. I inserted my DODO sim in the mobile just to check and bang ….. Its working. I am able to call and browse internet too using DODO sim. So basically my mobile is not locked. others please do try once, possibly some more mobiles might be already unlocked too :)

    • That is really strange. Mine was locked and I had to get it unlocked via telstra.

$60 for an Unlocked Telstra Lumia 610 is an excellent deal. Cheap too if you want to get into the whole windows phone developing thingamabob

  • works perfectly with my Kogan sim

  • If anyone from Newcastle is looking for one there were 2 left at Charlestown Square this afternoon. None left at Glendale or Kotara though.

  • One left at Campbelltown Mall. Was in the display case, then taken out to check price and now "put aside" at the Electronics service desk.

  • Three left at Penrith Plaza.
And Telstra $30 starter kit for $15

  • Two left at Macarthur Square in the display case with correct price tags.

    • gone now

  • 3 left at Warrawong Target this afternoon.

There are a bunch of Telstra Touch 2 phones for under $15 as well (Pink or Black)

    • And I thought they'd be sold out everywhere by now. The question now is who'd be nice enough Ozbargainer to sell me one?

      • for anyone's who's nice enough to pick one up for jakentta
If you see a Xperia play for $59 anyone who wants to purchase one and ship it to me I'll reimburse you cost and some for your effort. I'm not sure how much shipping will be so if you could give me an estimate (post code 2486) and how much you wanted for your time I would appreciate it. I already got the 30$ sim starter pack just to get a hold of the phone Really hope someone helps out.
Let me know before you purchase it so I can confirm details with you.

        • My local store has and I have put it on hold. If you are interested please PM me. Cheers mate.

  • I bought a $10 ipad sim pack from Australia Post and used Telstra's live chat service to activate it as a normal SIM (you can't do this yourself when activating it on the web). I had to explain to them I wanted to use the SIM in a phone. Once the person understood, it was easy.

It took a day for the SIM to appear in my existing Telstra account web portal. However .. the $30 credit wasn't there. I started another live chat and explained it to them. They didn't understand at first (kept asking me to check my receipt for a code), but finally said the credit has to be added manually as it is meant to be an ipad sim.

I then rang 1258880 (option 1, 4) and got the phone unlocked for $27.50 no hassles. I just said I was going overseas when they asked me why I wanted to unlock it.

    • lucky thanks for the guide through too.

    • Haha same! They asked me when I was off? I said a month away! Hehehe. Was waiting for them to ask where I was going but they didn't.

They also asked me how long I had, had the phone. I was asked a couple of times once when confirming once when i got mucked around and once at the end. Each time I've had it for a while. But one of them asked well how long is a while? I said around 7 months. Not sure if they were checking to see if it were over 6 months yet…

      • so basically just tell them you've had it for a while and lie if needed.
seems pretty ridiculous that you need to do this.

      • The first time when I called to check how much it costs to unlock, the person asked how long I've had it for. When I actually wanted to unlock it, the (different) person didn't ask. The first person did say generally if it's 6 months old it's $27.50, if it's less than 6 months it's a hundred-something, and if it's 2 years, it's free.

I wonder how they calculate it. Is it from the time the sim card that came with the phone is activated, or the first time the phone's imei registers on the network? Hmm.

        • well seeing as you got yours unlocked at 27.50 it all seems to stand on how long you say you've had the phone. and I suppose they might not have any way of knowing when the phone was purchased. (could of been purchased years ago and left unopened)
so you just say you've had it for more than a year and maybe they'll do it at 27.50
