Nokia Lumia 610 Telstra Locked $49.83

630

Found this deal via twitter from someone who works at Target. These were reduced at $99.95 but have been reduced to just under $50 this week.
Great deal for a cheap windows phone. Has fairly good reviews from what I can see. The store I went to didn't have it listed as that price but when scanned in it came up as the below $50 price.

If someone would like me to scan in a receipt for any price matches or verification I can.

Enjoy!

There were heaps of other good specials there today too so this may be one of many.

  • Could you post which store that picture came from ?

    • It was from Reynella South Australia.

  • Any idea how much to unlock?

    • I'm not sure I haven't unlocked it yet.
But if anyone can do that for me it would be great.

      • i can unlock your phone for $20 :)

  • Availability anyone?

    • I checked 2 stores in South Australia. Marion had 3 left Reynella has sold out I think. I took the last 2.

    • none at bankstown target

    • Lucky dip competition :-(

  • +1

Hmmm $50… It'd make a great spare phone

    • +10

And a spare GPS (offline voice-guided Nokia Maps & Drive), a spare camera, a spare multimedia player, a spare Office Docs editor, a spare gaming console, a spare FM radio…

      • Will it operate without a sim?

        • Will what operate without a SIM? The entire phone or the GPS?

I don't have a Lumia 610 phone so I cannot tell you for certain. Ask the OP to try it. However, the Nokia N9 operates without a SIM (obviously sans telephone functionality) and it operates without a 2G/3G data connection (obviously sans mobile Internet). And by "operate", I mean the entire phone including GPS and voice-guided navigation.

now any unlocking deals out there for the lumia??

    • Did a google search. Its really difficult to get this phone unlock. Found some places that claim to be able to do so but it would cost ~30 pounds.

    • you may want to try this one ;) http://www.code-unlocking.com/index.php , if you will. no guarantee as you have to input your emei number to see if your phone can be unlocked. good luck

      • If you have some success, please post results.

  • Point cook has 4 in stock.

    • Did you purchase it

      • I got two, and could still see 4 more. There may be a couple more behind these.

    800MHz CPU + 256MB RAM

    spec is a bit low….

    • True, has good reviews though.

    • +4

for a windows phone 7.5, it's good enough. Windows phones tends to run more smoothly on lower spec.

      • I have a Lumia 610 on amaysim, it is GREAT!
It is up gradable to Windows Phone 7.8, which features a new start screen(like WP 8) and bing pic of the day lock screen pic:-)

      it's enough for windows phone

  • Great deal, I'll try my luck at the Perth CBD store after work but don't like my chances. Damn lunchtime meetings!

    • did Perth have any? Couldn't get there today.

  • I think it's 8Gb internal with no SD card.

  • There is one left in the Brisbane CBD store if anybody is looking for.

    • Another one? I thought I bought the last one at 2.45pm. :)

  • None at Southland, Melbourne

  • Phone supports WP7.8 as well :) assuming Telstra has allowed the update

    • Update should be available according to this

  • Thought it was going to be a little easier to unlock this phone. Got one for a friend as thought it would be easy to unlock as they are not with telstra. Might have to sell it now but will see how I go.

  • Worst product photo ever on OzBargain? Out of focus, blurry, incorrect exposure, and shadow on product. You need this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/99436

    • Haha, it was off a dodgy tablet camera, with an awkward button to press which doesn't make it any easier.

  • Still at least 6 left in Melbourne city store at 4pm

    • Got the last stock at melb cbd

  • Guys, anyone interested in the xperia play I have just updated my earlier post. The xperia play is now selling at $59.83 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100608

  • how much to unlock this phone?

  • can someone confirm if this is Telstra Blue Tick approved - it looks it from the photo?

    • Has rural tick for coverage so i think yes.

  • In case anyone's wondering, the frequencies on the box are:
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900
    WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100

It's a blue tick phone too.

  • None left in burwood nsw

    • Called Burwood Target yesterday at noon and secured 2. They said they have plenty of stock and when I picked them up later, rest of the stock gone. Back storeroom shelf was filled with secured stock, ozbargained :o) Also the dude was overwhelmed by calls asking for different ps3 bundles, 500GB and 12GB…

  • Big thanks - bought one for my mum - her first smartphone. Great buy.
One left now at Tuggeranong (ACT).

Yes, it has blue tick for improved rural coverage.

  • Bugger, was prepared to buy both this Lumia 610 and the Xperia Play, but they didn't have either in my local Target in Shepparton (VIC). Really wanted the Lumia! Well, got other stuff though, Sony Bloggie Duo MHS-FS2K HD videocamera and TomTom Via 220 GPS for $29.83 each, which I though was pretty decent price.

  • +1

got 2nd last one in glen waverley vic.
I just tested it using aldi sim, it works.so i think it will also work for other companies who wholesales telstra network

    • thanks!

  • Its a smashing deal if you're already on a telstra network, otherwise it would cost too much to unlock. It costs on average $30 to get it unlocked. That is if it could be unlocked at all

    • Yeah, but even locked it makes a great MP3/video player, camera, GPS, games for the kids, VoIP phone and I get to play with WP Mango. Even if only to say how much better IOS/Android/N9 is :)

I think I might end up mounting it in the car if Nokia Drive turns out OK.

Got the last one from my local Target, thanks!! Lots of bargains at Target right now.

      • Hey manic,

Let us know what you think of Nokia Drive!

My last Nokia was the n97 mini and before then the 5800 before switching to Android, the free maps was a bonus for me especially when travelling overseas.

For $49.83 + $10 unlock would be a good deal for a Sat Nav unit with world maps.

        Cheers mate.

        • Let us know what you think of Nokia Drive!

Probably too late if you have not bought already.

Nokia Drive has no traffic data! But Nokia maps does. Arrgh!
It is not bad, but simple. I just tested it to tell me the way to a camping place. Could not find it in search, and there was no way to set a destination from the map, like you can with other versions of Nokia Maps. For those and other reasons it feels rather crippled.

    • I guess lyca Prepaid works on them as well. Have anyone tested yet

  • All gone

  • being telstra 3G it will work on kogan/aldi i assume ?

    • zhaoand tested this and it worked. -see above-

  • Rockingham, WA had one scanned @ $49.83. Didn't ask how many in stock. Bough about4pm today and like it. Seems more intuitive than Android. Thanks OP.

For anyone and everyone looking to unlock, I have just successfully unlocked my phone for $10 and the best part is it's through Telstra.
Step 1: Call Telstra to check unlocking price, they'll need IMEI. It should be $27.50 (Checked for both the phones I bought).
Step 2: Buy $10 starter kit from one of the recurring deals. Currently this
    Step 3: Activate SIM
Step 4: Call Telstra and ask them to unlock your phone and deduct the $27.50 fee from your prepaid balance.
    Step 5: Success

PS: If you are a true ozbargainer you would activate the starter pack with Cap Encore and enjoy 1 month of call benefits.
PPS: There is a possibility that the unlocking fee could be higher i.e. $50,$100 or $150 based on what their system recognises so I would suggest not skipping step 1.

    • Thanks for the info on unlocking, are there any other unlocking experience out there?

      • If this works its probably the best option out there. $10 for an unlock. Fantastic. A fairly extensive web search reveals that it is notoriously hard to unlock this phone

    • Thanks that's fantastic, does it really work?
Just say can you please deduct it from the sim?

      It is that easy?

      • Yes apparently. It can deduct from the SIM value but you would first have to find stock. There are some selfish people that snap up all the stock to resell. (or for 'family'…..)

As a follow up to his post, assuming 27.50 unlocking fee, you have 2.50 credit left which can be used to purchase apps on the Android Play Store. In fact, you guys should think of the $10 telstra prepaid cards as a 66.66% of play store apps.

        • Wrong store mate! This is a Windows Phone. :)

        • Yes I know.

I'm just saying that the remainder credit could be used in such a way. Most people own an android phone nowadays, i'm thinking of grabbing one of the lumia 610 as a spare phone.

      • You can pay by credit, debit or main account balance. Details here

    • Have you actually tried this? Activated the sim card and the guy said it only has bonus credit on it??
      Help please.

      • Check your balance It should have $30 main account balance and $220 Cap Credit (Funny money). The main balance is the one you are after.
Did u buy $30 starter pack or are you using the sim included? If you are using the sim included then the $10 starter credit is bonus and doesn't count towards main balance.

        • Don't worry fixed. I purchased a ipad data sim as it was 10 on special and activated that and they wouldn't let me use the credit. So spoke to someone else who changed it to an encore plan. Then rang back got the code all good! Now just need to get my sim cut.

        • +1

im having the same issue :( what do i need to ask for me to have access to the $30 credit to unlock the phone? many thanks!

        • +1 would also be interested already bought the ipad sim to use for unlocking the xperia play would like to know if anyone else has succeeded in using the $30 credit.

        • User "eug" posted this further down the thread this might help you.

I bought a $10 ipad sim pack from Australia Post and used Telstra's live chat service to activate it as a normal SIM (you can't do this yourself when activating it on the web). I had to explain to them I wanted to use the SIM in a phone. Once the person understood, it was easy.

It took a day for the SIM to appear in my existing Telstra account web portal. However .. the $30 credit wasn't there. I started another live chat and explained it to them. They didn't understand at first (kept asking me to check my receipt for a code), but finally said the credit has to be added manually as it is meant to be an ipad sim.

I then rang 1258880 (option 1, 4) and got the phone unlocked for $27.50 no hassles. I just said I was going overseas when they asked me why I wanted to unlock it.

    • thanks utkarshgoel

I followed these instructions and the friendly Telstra staff unlocked it, only glitch was the $30 credit was not appearing on their system…staff member put me on hold and sorted it out…

    • Do you need to plug the sim into a phone to have it activated or just follow the online activation procedure then call them up?

  • -4

BTW this phone uses micro sim. Bought 4 at target Bull Creek WA, the sales dude didnt know what was going on lol.

    • +2

      Broden!

    • +2

Yeah, why on earth would you need 4 of these?

      Spare spare spare spare phone?

      • +2

Maybe for the whole family. I would call if they wanted one too for this price.

        • That's cute. I'm guessing 3 of these will be flipped on eBay.

  • Will a sim from Telstra resellers work with this phone? (i.e, Aldi's 3G Telstra-based plans)

-just noticed zhaoand's remark in the affirmative-

  • Just grabbed one, the phone comes with $10 starter credit, and also telstra starter kits are selling for half price at the telstra online shop.

not sure if you can move the credit over?

    https://onlineshop.telstra.com.au/prepaid-mobile/?ti=TR:TR:S…

    • no you cant…. :(
      as per what i saw

  • Warringah Mall, claim of stock but none when checked. Ticketed at $99 but scan $49.

  • Marion target 99$

    • did you ask them to scan it?

      • Its 49, they had 4 left at 5pm after I grabbed one today :)
Had one of those Fiji 50 dollar camera's left also in the bin, from the other deal on here.

  • I got two in the morning today from Broadmeadows target shop (melbourne) for $49.83 each. There were few more available at that time.

    • All gone now

  • Does anyone know if I can get a $10 Telstra Starter pack right now? Auspost are not selling them at $10 anymore

    • They should it is on the catalog for this week 22April to 12May

    • I got one from Australia post. It was an ipad micro sim one but see if you can speak to someone online and get them to make it a normal one. They did it for me.

    • Its not on the catalogue.

Does someone have a working link?

It was supposed to be on sale up till the 21st april apparently. The previous catalogue's sale in fact. I was told about this in store today. Called up Auspost and they said the same thing too

      • Got the catalogue in my mailbox today. "$30 Pre-paid micro SIM for the ipad" as in here:
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100607

      • Could you post a picture so I could show it to the post office?

Even when I called up Auspost HQ they claimed no such thing n the new catalogue

  • Zero at Maribyrnong, Point Cook and Hoppers Crossing.

  • Just got the last one from Target city store Adelaide about 30mins ago.

    • They are a nice neat little phone, little on the chunky side but I only needed one as a test for work so it will be good to test MDM applications.
