  • heard about new ipad plan only have 400m of data, not 3gb?

  • Can you Credit Me 2U with the credits on these packs??

    • I think so, also can use on google play great with the $39 Telstra y201

      • Please elaborate berserkk… u need real credit for Play store (only $10 bonus credit with Y201)

        • i meant just to use the phone as your purchasing phone so you dont ahve to swap sims in your regular phone. havent activated the sim with y201 yet was hoping for real credit not bonus credit =(

    • +1

Last time I activated one it came with 3GB of Bonus Data rather than any $ value.

      • 3GB Still applies -(if you were responding to me and berserkk we were off topic ;))

  • Can this be used for pocket wifi?

Update: pocket wifi gets 700 mb only whereas ipad gets 3 gb, confirmed via livechat

    • yes it can be

    • Got 3GB using Pocket WiFi2.

  • Might be a stupid question, but can I use this in an android tablet?

    • I have used it in a USB dongle, so I see no reason why you cant use it in an Android tab

      • How much is the data allowance in your usb dongle?

  • Can this also be used for voice/data in a phone?

    • Yes/no? Anyone?

      • Yes, but u wont get 3gb of data..
        Check this for details https://www.telstra.com.au/online-shop/tablet-product.cfm?fl…

        • Thanks… We have a friend from overseas who is going to be here for 3 weeks. Will come in handy!

        • So apparently they don't ask for I'd when you buy it and it seems it's only a data sim…

      • No. the iPad branded ones will not work for calls. Unlike the other starter kits the iPad branded ones only have 3gb bonus data one them not $30 of real credit

  • Is this even still on? I just stopped by my local post office and they said that the $10 sim kit ended on the 21st.

  • .

  • Can you use all the $30 credit for android apps?

    • +2

I wasted $10 to find out that you can't. The $30 is meaningless really, all you get with this sim is 3gb over 30days.

      • +1

I just had an online chat with Telstra and they checked and confirmed these CAN be used to buy $30 of apps on Google Play. Maybe yours was activated on the wrong plan or something???

  • I assume we cannot use this on the Telstra Encore plan? like the previous $10 sims we had the option, which gives $250 calls and 400mb data. Am I correct assuming this isn't possible? Would be great for "highon2str" who was interested for a friend, rather than the $7 calls 700mb data that was linked.

Otherwise our last bet is this one.
$30 starter kit for $15 delivered.

I bought it and activated online which automatically gave me the option of 3GB of data to be used in the ipad. Alternatively you can activate it by calling Telstra CS and ask them for the option of $250 credit+400mb data. I havent tried this though. Last time I had the orange standard sim starter pack and called up Telstra, they were happy to activate the 3GB data option for me

      • These specially branded iPad sims don't have $30 credit on them only 3gb ($30 worth) of bonus data. They will not work on other offers unlike the normal $30 sims which will work on the iPad offer if requested.

  • Can I use this to unlock my Telstra Y201 mobile?

Since the phone doesn't take a micro-sim, I assume you can get Telstra to transfer the credit?

Should be able to use Credit Me 2U to do that from what I've read.
Take a look at Credit Me 2U Should cost you 25c to move 10$ and you can only move 10$ a day .

      • -1

No it isn't compatible with iPad starter kits. Other ones yes but not the iPad branded packs

    • -1

No, it only has bonus 3gb data on it not $30 credit like the other offer. The iPad micro sims are different

User "eug" posted this in the Nokia bargian thread
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100622

I bought a $10 ipad sim pack from Australia Post and used Telstra's live chat service to activate it as a normal SIM (you can't do this yourself when activating it on the web). I had to explain to them I wanted to use the SIM in a phone. Once the person understood, it was easy.

It took a day for the SIM to appear in my existing Telstra account web portal. However .. the $30 credit wasn't there. I started another live chat and explained it to them. They didn't understand at first (kept asking me to check my receipt for a code), but finally said the credit has to be added manually as it is meant to be an ipad sim.

I then rang 1258880 (option 1, 4) and got the phone unlocked for $27.50 no hassles. I just said I was going overseas when they asked me why I wanted to unlock it.

        • So he socially engineered the live chat person to manually apply it. I stand by what I said these sims don't give you the $30 credit.

        • True but I don't think it's so much social engineering as it is you payed $30 (as far as they know) for it and don't care how you choose to use that $30.
I also had no issues getting them to change it into a standard longlife plan.
but if I had the option the standard sims certainly would be a lot easier then spending 20mins chatting with them to get it changed over.

      • As I posted above… "I just had an online chat with Telstra and they checked and confirmed these CAN be used to buy $30 of apps on Google Play."
Going to go down and grab one now and see how it goes.

  • Grabbed the last one at tweed city post and checked coolangatta post , banora post and and tweed Centro post none there.

  • Anyone know if voda locks their ipads ?

    • We can see these in a month's time, again, hopefully. Thanks for the deal.

    • These are useless, they won't ship unless activated so you can't have a stock of SIM cards! Don't buy!
