What are the major differences between Pro and the Standard model apart from the longer warranty?

    • +1

The Pro uses a different type of nand memory which supposedly has a longer lifetime. It is also considerably faster.

      Hi Moots,

I truly symphatize that you were put through above scenario. Fortunately, we are not the company you had the bad experience with.

      Kind Regards

        I've had this confusion before.

        Poor name choice perhaps? :)

        • I've brought up this very issue with ShoppingExpress before. This happens more than I'd expect they'd like, and there is a fix.

Moots noob error from a MOD on OzBargain….

    • +4

Hey Moots, I think a few OzBargainers have been confusing Shopping Square and Shopping Express.

I agree with you, I would not buy off Shopping Square again.

But this deal is Shopping Express, I and many OzBargainers have had good dealings with these guys.

  • At the risk of showing my age (and ignorance?), what does one use an SSD for?

    • This is one of those things you could and should easily Google. But, instead of a smart ass lmgtfy link…

An ssd is essentially an electronic hard drive. You can use one on your laptop/pc for MUCH better performance, load times, etc. If you don't know what an ssd is, it's probably not something you'd want to put in yourself, but a feature you should look for next time you buy a pc/laptop.

Once you go SSD, you never go back…

      • Thank you mooboy. However, I already knew what "SSD" means and that they are used in laptops, tablets, etc. What I am really wondering is how easily it can be installed into, for example, a 4 year old laptop by someone who is not a geek?

        • +2

I purchased a 256Gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD off these guys a few week ago. The Samsung drive has the bonus of coming with copying software that worked well to get my data off my other drive. I downloaded the latest copy from Samsung. Though I did buy an eSata cable to help.

Oh, these are 7mm drives from memory, your old laptop may need an adaptor bracket?

Also, I hear it is best not to fill the drive over 80% capacity, so ensure you get a big enough drive.

FYI, the SSD has made a massive difference in the speed to my laptop. Programs load around 10 times faster.
